Simply the best in London on every visit! Beautiful flowers

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Mark S. on 07/15/2024

Simply the best in London on every visit! Beautiful flowers in the middle of the dining room and staff have been there for years giving great service! We had thought about tying the new Peninsula but friends said they wished they had stayed at Claridge's. Our granddaughter wants to live on the top floor there. Highly recommended this hotel.

My family and I came for afternoon tea and had a wonderful experience. Robert took such great care of us. The attention to detail, the generosity of service and food was outstanding and matched the price point. It was truly a unique experience that we will never regret. Highly recommend afternoon tea at Claridge Hotel.

Disappointing startโ€ฆ..

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Scott on 07/07/2024

Booked in for the afternoon tea. Great experience and very attentive however it did lack the wow factor for me. Lack of wow factor was probably down to a bad start, we asked if we could go for a drink as we arrived earlyโ€ฆโ€ฆ..no problem however upon being escorted and seated in a very small snug bar we simply got ignored for 20mins, at that point we got up and left. Not sure what happened to cause this however staff fully aware we arrived as it was the bar host who seated us. Wimbledon tea was good all be it the sandwiches did lack the detail you would expect for such an exclusive and pricey experience. All that being said, bucket list ticked.

Customer treatment.

My wife, three daughters, son-in-law and I arrived at 5:10 for a 5:30 reservation at their restaurant. Security came over and asked what we were doing there at 5:20. None of us was dressed like a homeless person. Not one of us was loud or inappropriate. When we said we were waiting for our dinner reservation, she actually went in to check if we were in fact on the list! This place is a pompous racist dump, and should be avoided at all costs.

While on my trip to the UK, I've had locals tell me that

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Kelli H. on 06/22/2024

While on my trip to the UK, I've had locals tell me that Claridges is the absolute best place to get cream tea and I couldn't agree more. Super posh with decor and service to match, it was one of the more exquisite dining experiences I've ever had. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly, and for my mom who is N/A, a glass of non-alcoholic bubbly which was exceptional. Our meal consisted of five finger sandwiches, which fortunately were customizable based on my dietary restrictions. I don't eat egg or salmon and those typical options were replaced with a celeriac and truffle cream sandwich and a butternut squash sandwich. Both were excellent. The classics were cucumber and cream cheese, chicken salad, and ham, which honestly was the best of the night. One of my favorite things was that we were able to order more of any sandwiches we wanted! I got seconds of the celeriac and the ham, which were the standouts. Next came the scones with clotted cream and house made raspberry jam as well as the assortment of petit fours. The day's selection included a red berry tart with jasmine tea, a chocolate and coffee choux, a blueberry and elderflower mousse, and almond cake with mango compote & coconut cream. Sooooo decadent. The best by far was the blueberry and elderflower mousse which tasted like springtime. Over the course of our meal we each sampled three different teas, the best of which was an Oolong tea called Malawi Antler, which gave off an earthy scent but tasted more like stone fruits. The next time I'm in London I'll definitely seek tea at Claridge's out, and highly recommend you do the same!

Disappointing Expensive Experience

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Mee-Ling K on 06/05/2024

I chose Claridgeโ€™s for afternoon high tea after considering a number of other options including the Ritz, Savoy and Connaught. The criteria included the food and tea offered, as well as atmosphere and service. Unfortunately Claridgeโ€™s service in The Foyer was in my opinion lacking, clumsy and indifferent. Claridgeโ€™s is a truly beautiful hotel with outstanding Art Deco period details and flower arrangements everywhere. This includes the Foyer where high tea was served. On being seated we both noted that the jacket our waiter was wearing was crumpled and had stains when he introduced himself. The sandwiches were delicious and pastries exquisite. There is a wonderful selection of rare teas. However, our tea arrived after we had eaten our sandwiches when our waiter apologised for forgetting our teas. It then took 20 minutes to get our teapots refilled with hot water for a second pot of tea. It was not possible to catch the eye of any of the wait staff circling the tables until I raised my hand. When the waiter did appear with my second pot of tea, he was unable to fill my teacup as there was insufficient hot water in the pot. His response was to tip the teapot such that the final drops ended on the tablecloth, despite noticing this he didnโ€™t stop. We came away disappointed and will not be returning.

Beautiful hotel but lacked service

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @kevin d on 05/26/2024

We had a birthday lunch in The Foyer and Reading Room. The food was truly amazing, well presented and full of flavour. The hotel is so well decorated and has a really pleasant atmosphere. The downside is that tables are rather too close together, and just felt as if you were on top of each other. Also the service was lacking, we had different servers for each course and even a sauce for the fish arrived 5 minutes after we started. If you are looking for a special venue - I would choose The Ritz, far better experience

Just a truly, wonderful experience from beginning to end ๐Ÿฅฐ service was impeccable..our waiter was so lovely, but not overbearing, as we have found in other places.Everything we ate & drank was delicious. We didnโ€™t feel rushed..in fact, we were in there for over 3 hours. We also had a free bottle of champagne, I wonโ€™t say why, because I wouldnโ€™t want people to just try it onโ€ฆ..but that did add to our experience. Would definitely recommend x

SIMPLY THE BEST - BETTER THAN ALL THE REST! EXCEPTIONAL!

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Rosie C on 05/09/2024

If I could rate a review higher than the TripAdvisorโ€™s 5 points, I most certainly would. Some restaurants simply exceed excellence! I have been to hundreds of afternoon teas over the years (lucky, I know)! Many of the have been with friends and family and many with clients. But, this time, four friends were celebrating our 60th birthdays, and in my view, there was no other option for afternoon tea, but Claridgeโ€™s! Last time I went (earlier in the year) we were sat in The Reading Room. If you prefer a quieter setting, then you will enjoy The Reading Room, which is off of the main room, but we wanted to enjoy the buzziness, entertainment and experience of The Foyer. When I say โ€˜entertainmentโ€™, we were lucky enough to enjoy the most wonderful pianist and cellist โ€“ oh, it was perfect! We couldnโ€™t help but thank both gentlemen as we left. But, going back to the actual afternoon tea โ€ฆโ€ฆ. We were seated at a wonderful table and were greeted by the most charming server called Mimi โ€“ she was a delight in herself; explaining the food and everything we were about to enjoy, together with talking us through any teas and coffees โ€“ there are so many on offer. With a glass of champagne, to start us off, we had the most scrumptious selection of sandwiches delivered; smoked salmon with lemon and dill crรจme fraiche, roast chicken with honey mustard, roasted ham and tomato relish, egg mayo and cress, but my favourite being the gorgeous English cucumber with mint cheese! The four of us couldnโ€™t get enough and were delighted when we were served another plate. Maybe we were all starving, or maybe they were just scrumptious and we couldnโ€™t stop eating, but we had to โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.. the delicious scones then arrived; freshly baked โ€“ Iโ€™m sure they were still warm, they were that fresh! Raisin and plain scones, with oodles of jam and Cornish clotted cream โ€“ yummy. But, when we were ready, after a little rest, we were served with the most mouth-watering tarts/pudding/pastries! Four each! I thought โ€œwe are never going to be eat our way through this lotโ€, but of course, we did! There was a different selection to that which I had had back in February โ€“ how lovely that the menu gets changed so regularly! So, a blueberry and elderflower mousse, almond cake with mango compote and coconut cream, red berry tart and a chocolate and coffee choux! Every one of them was simply delectable and heavenly! I was hoping that the girls would leave some, so that I could take them home (how common, you might say!), but of course there wasnโ€™t a crumb left on the plates! All four of us could have sat in The Foyer all afternoon. The room itself is high and bright, with the most wonderful centerpiece โ€“ those orchids! The hotel is truly charming โ€“ the art deco โ€“ oh so stylish and elegant! And, when I think about other hotels, where weโ€™ve had afternoon teas, the rooms are dark, with no ambience or excitement or โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ. class! Lastly, ignore the bad reviews on T/A. Not that there are many, but there are a few โ€˜moanersโ€™. I only wish everyone who had the most truly wonderful experience, as we did, would post! Claridgeโ€™s really is wonderful, so central and so close to Bond Street too, if you fancy a little shop afterwards! But, with the most delicious food presented โ€“ definitely my top choice in London Town.

The Perfect Place to have Tea in London!

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Miss Renee on 04/01/2024

We had a wonderful dining experience in December of 2023 when we had Tea in The Foyer at Claridges for the very first time. I have just found in my notes the name of our fantastic waiter, Jairo. He set the tone for our meal from the moment we sat down. Jairo was warm and welcoming and professional. We were meeting London friends here and our table was in the Reading Room was perfect. It was a quiet and private place to carry on our conversations. Every course of our afternoon tea was excellent. We felt wonderfully pampered and well looked after by Jairo. My husband and I come to London on a regular basis. We will be back soon!

Chryssa made sure we could not ask for anything more. We were lucky enough to have the festive upgrade and the Christmas Pudding was divine. All the food and champagne was perfect and we had cakes to bring home as we could not eat everything. This was an exceptional Afternoon Tea! I am sure the pictures do not do it justice!

Been coming to claridges a lot over the past few months itโ€™s my new favourite haunt while I am in London. First time in this part of the hotel. Staff are fantastic so polite and welcoming. I am a very casual dressed person so Iโ€™m in jeans, hoodie and trainers and I was still treated very nicely (compared to a lot of other London hotels where this would not happen). Got sat in a nice little corner of the restaurant which is what I asked for. The food was fantastic and the staff you cannot fault at all. The experience you get for what you pay is worth every single penny. Got given a for box of fudge ton my way out by the amazing waiter. Canโ€™t wait to come back.

CLARIDGES not the experience you pay for!

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Honesty1970 on 03/07/2024

We went here for afternoon teas as part of my sisters 50th birthday, and it wasnโ€™t the experience we were hoping for. I wish we had booked The Savoy or The Ritz, which incidentally are cheaper. It started when we arrived by taxi, the doorman asked our taxi driver to move along, the taxi driver explained he was dropping us off, we were then greeted with a half hearted doorman opening the door for us with no greeting, he was too interested in the BMW behind us, which the other doorman was dealing with. We then went into the foyer for our afternoon tea, I know the dress code is smart casual, but a hoodie and trainers for me is not this. Our server was nice, but I felt we had more attention from other more senior servers. We had booked Claridgeโ€™s Bar for 6.45, we were taken through and were seated, we were quite happy until we realised they had us sat beside a door that leads out to the terrace, which people were using, including staff, the door was left open and the wind that was coming through was quite something. The bar staff were very apologetic, I asked one member of staff if we could move to another table, he went and spoke to the hostess and came back and said there was nothing at the moment, at that time there were a couple of tables free, he asked the hostess again later and was told, yes I have a note. We decide to finish our drinks and go elsewhere, which was a shame as we were looking forward to relaxing and having a few drinks. One of the tables was still empty when we left, so we could have had the lovely night we were looking forward to. The doormen had changed when we left and they in turn were lovely. I wouldnโ€™t recommend and I certainly wonโ€™t be back.

Wonderful 50th anniversary celebration

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Tazzie2014 on 02/18/2024

We dined at Claridgeโ€™s restaurant for lunch for my parents 50th anniversary. From the moment I booked to paying the bill our experience was fantastic. The team at the restaurant emailed options for champagne on arrival and a cake to celebrate. I also wanted to have flowers delivered ahead of our arrival and they helped to ensure the flowers were received and taken to our table. We had drinks at the bar beforehand and without even informing them of who we were they brought a little dessert and happy 50th anniversary written on the plate. Once in the dining room we had a wonderful oval table to seat us comfortably- we were 6 adults and 4 children. Elizabeth and her team were so attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious- especially the halibut and beef wellington. One of the halibuts was overcooked but they quickly brought a new dish when this was raised. All of the children had an adult meal and thoroughly enjoyed them. The cake was delicious. The atmosphere as wonderful- not too quiet but enough buzz. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion. Thank you again

I went alone to afternoon tea, which I was a bit nervous about, but everyone was so welcoming and it didn't feel awkward that I was alone. The food and tea selection were delicious and overflowing. I ate so much I genuinely thought it was going to be a problem. Some things are expensive but not worth it. This was not one of them.

Came here for afternoon tea and had a great time! There was beautiful decor and relaxing live music playing the whole time we were there. We were served fast and the server always made sure we got more sandwiches and tea whenever we wanted! However though the food and desserts were good and presented in a nice way, there wasn't anything that I was overly impressed by, given the high price. I would come again for the overall experience, but not for the afternoon tea menu itself.

Classy venue

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @sclarke74 on 12/27/2023

I don't understand how the other reviewers failed to notice the Christmas decorations - there were loads and it was very festive. Although the Louis Vuitton "Christmas tree" in the lobby was questionable. The food was of an excellent standard and the service faultless; friendly and efficient without being intrusive. However I have a couple of minor quibbles which prevent it getting an Excellent rating: firstly if they're going to charge supplements on the festive set menu, it's not unreasonable to expect this to be reflected in the online versions nowadays. Secondly, the light in the side area was too dim - I can have trouble reading in low light, so reading the wine list was difficult. I will definitely return.

Rather disappointed

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Saruman W on 12/27/2023

We had the afternoon tea and it was deeply disappointing. I understand itโ€™s Christmas and may cut some slack to the staff. And they need it: the service was extremely slow and uncoordinated. But the very least youโ€™d expect from a place of this class and pedigree is good food and great presentation. None of the above at all. No beautiful tiers that English afternoon tea is famous for. Just stacks of sandwiches that looked very industrial. Unremarkable tableware too. And of course foodโ€ฆ the bread that sticks to your palateโ€ฆ I would expect on a cost cutting airline. Please, go to the nearest Brownโ€™s and ask them for a lesson. This is not a rant, this is just a shock of discrepancy between the setting, the cost and the value.

Disappointing food at outrageous prices

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @jivebanana on 12/12/2023

We thought Claridges would be the perfect place for a treat for Christmas. The Louis Vitton Christmas tree was underwhelming. We had booked for lunch and was expecting something really special. I had the recommended chicken pie and mash which was ok. The chicken seemed dry and for the price I would have expected something more exciting. The chocolate bomb dessert was nice but the limoncello dessert did not look appetising at all and was just half a lemon with some sour tasting mixture inside. Very disappointing. However it was the cheese plate which was really dreadful. Some tiny bits of cheese and none particularly exciting or interesting, a few crackers, bits of celery and grapes and a pot of tomato ketchup!!! The person serving us kept denying that it was tomato ketchup but then had to concede and took our teas and coffees off the bill. The bill was exorbitant as expected. The service was good, the cocktails and bread were probably the best part of our lunch. A complete let down and the food quality was very poor. I wonโ€™t be returning.

I recently dined at Claridge's and unfortunately, I can

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Gayle T. on 09/10/2023

I recently dined at Claridge's and unfortunately, I can only give it a 3-star rating due to a disappointing service experience. Upon arriving early, it took an excessive 30 minutes for our order to be taken, but we understood that we were early diners. However, the major issue was that the staff completely forgot about us. On the positive side, Claridge's did serve some of the best sandwiches and tea I've had, but the downfall was that they never returned to check or refill our tea, despite us asking for it. We specifically came for the tea experience, and it was disappointing to have our dessert without tea since it had disappeared. What added to our frustration was the lack of attention from the staff. We had to actively seek out the waiter every time we needed something, and even then, they often failed to follow up on our requests. This overall experience was quite disappointing, and one of the waiters even admitted that they were understaffed for our table. Good service is a fundamental reason to choose a place like Claridge's in the first place, and this aspect was severely lacking during our visit. I hope they address these issues, as the potential for a great dining experience is there, but it was marred by the poor service we encountered.

Lord, was this a hassle.

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Regan C. on 05/04/2023

Arrived at check-in, room wasn't ready. Went to get a pedicure, came back, finally ready. Went up to our room that was supposed to be two beds. It was one bed. We flew for 15 hours and we're super jet lagged. They claimed the beds could split but realized they couldn't, but didn't have a room ready for what they said would be several hours. there was tons of back-and-forth and miscommunication about this. They said we could nap and call down when we were awake to check on the new room. They ended up calling 45 minutes later with a new room to check out, waking us up after saying they wouldn't call and bother until we were awake. Cranky. We go to the new room "with a better view" and a double bed. We walked into a view of the top of dirty buildings and construction just to have an open bathroom floor plan with zero privacy. We napped some more until they could get us what we paid for and book ample time ahead. They ended up "upgrading" us which was just a slightly bigger room with no view at all but we were just happy to have bathroom privacy and double beds. Third room in the first 12 hours on the property. Just wanted what we paid for! We ended up grabbing food in the lobby restaurant that night. We ordered our favorites: champagne, amazing oysters and caviar. They ended up treating to this meal which was unexpected but the least that could have been done considering our first impressions of our stay. Went to bed, woke up, ordered egg white omelets with veggies and orange juice for room service. Not an hour later were we both throwing up and on the toilet for the now next 3 days. We let the chefs know and they "investigated" the kitchen. Don't really know how they were to determine how our food was specifically prepared... we had to extend our booking because we could not leave the hotel room from being so beyond sick. Nothing was done about that. This was my first time in London, supposedly at the nicest hotel in the city, and I was not even able to explore one bit. The investigation concluded that no one else was sick - not sure what that had to do with us, very clearly sick. They didn't not waive or discount any accommodations. Will never be back. Sad. Housekeeping was great and property was super clean.

Champagne Afternoon Tea

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Steve V on 03/24/2023

A wonderful champagne afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. The Claridges equivalent to English Breakfast tea was lovely. Sandwiches, scones, cakes, all delicious and rounded off with a coffee. Our waiter, Leo, was outstanding: so polite and attentive. Thank you. I do not drink but was still able to take part with some alcohol free fizz. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Had better

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @D J on 03/14/2023

Went for a Birthday meal, food was just ok nothing to really write home about and quality was average, found the menu limited, they had a set menu but could still have something off the main menu for the same price, plus one desert that was on both menu's, set menu was ยฃ10 while on the main menu it was ยฃ20. The tables was left dirty after people left, not the greatest of experiences at all.

Special birthday lunch

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @bearz1066 on 03/04/2023

What a marvellous occasion to celebrate my birthday. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Had oysters, roast quail and ox cheek. The latter was perhaps a little too salty but otherwise it was all superb. Finished with tarte tatin and petit fours. Thanks to everyone. We will come back soon.

A Venue 2nd to None

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Jimbosyourman on 02/26/2023

Ok Iโ€™ve been mean with my four stars . We have dined at most of, if not all Claridges London rivals , As venues go it is 2nd to none , only The Lanesborough comes close . Itโ€™s beautiful Art Deco through and through . This is the premier location for a special night out . Weโ€™ve also been to The Ritz , The Connaught, The Savoy and The Dorchester, thereโ€™s something special about Claridges. It is also the only establishment Iโ€™ve been to that all the waiters knew my name , only a small gesture but it was nice. The food was very nice and certainly competed well with its rivals , however it wasnโ€™t quite The Connaught which is Michelin Star. Having said this the food is very good and I especially liked the Ox Cheek main course . Overall if youโ€™re looking for a memorable meal in a beating location there is nowhere better.

Best Afternoon Tea in London in luxury surroundings

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @AnyaLondon on 02/25/2023

The Afternoon Tea experience at Claridge's is truly unique. The food served as a part of Afternoon Tea is the best in London; the sandwiches offer the best ratio of delicious filling to bread, and the cakes are absolutely delicious. And the scones are probably the best I ever tasted. I had to deduct one star as we visited the restaurant in December and because the area where the afternoon tea is served is close to the doors, which were constantly being opened, it was absolutely freezing. Every time the door opened, there was a draft of freezing air reaching us. I was offered a blanket but even with a blanket, I was shivering as it was very cold. I think it would be a much better experience if there was some glass or other partition, separating this area from the doors. I visited previously at other times of the year and it was also very cold due to the door proximity.

Classy, elegant and delicious!

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Helena V on 02/24/2023

We visited Claridge's for lunch on Sunday. The experience was fantastic, great menu featuring salads, burgers, club sandwiches etc. I ordered a chicken caesar salad which was delicious, and my friend ordered a lobster roll which looked amazing. The place has a very opulent and elegant feel, with the piano player in the background and stunning decor. Prices are expensive but you get what you pay for.

Ok not worth a visit though

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @John F on 02/23/2023

Food was OK not great. Lobster was salty and very rubbery hard to eat felt like eating rubber! Beef was ok again not great hard to chew . Claridges are supposed to be brilliant for food and hospitality, sadly this restaurant lacked so much, the chairs were uncomfortable to sit in ,they are not made for diners to sit back and relax in. Only highlight was we met Tom hanks in the restaurant! As for the food 3/10

Pleasant but could be improved

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Andrew D on 02/10/2023

We visited Claridges for afternoon tea as a Birthday treat. The hotel is grand and you are made to feel very welcome. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was a week day so maybe we had a better service due to the place being quiet. Being high tea enthiusiasts, we were looking forward to experiencing what Claridges had to offer. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The tea menu was a little scarce of choice and you only receive one fresh pot. The waiter was frequently topping up the water but it was luke warm and undrinkable after the first cup. The sandwiches were well presented and for me, the highlight of the afternoon. The scones were tiny and tastless and the pastries average for this level of service. All in all a pleasant experience but we won't be returning. There are better and less expensive places to have afternoon tea.

A Good Afternoon Tea, but not Fantastic

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @S&A on 02/01/2023

Make no mistake, if you head to Claridge's, you will have a pleasant afternoon tea which will be good. But, for us, it wasn't excellent. For the price and the prestige, it falls slightly behind the efforts of similar places for afternoon tea around London (Harrods, The Ritz, Fortnum's). The sandwiches and scones were lovely, but the desserts were very hit and miss with some of the flavours and textures not working at all. The service was rather slow at times, at one point waiting 20 minutes for a drink which ended up coming cold anyway. Additionally, due to the layout of the seating area, a number of covers could not really hear the pianist. The tables and chairs are also not the comfiest. These are minor complaints, yes, but if you're looking for an outstanding afternoon tea in London there are better alternatives.

Disappointing dinner mixed with the afternoon tea punters - at 8 pm!

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Chrisva1 on 01/25/2023

Hotel excellent overall, as were the staff. However, a very disappointing dinner in the hotel "breakfast and afternoon tea Foyer". At ยฃ450 for two people, it was not a great experience being mixed in what felt a little bit like an upmarket cafรฉ. Avoid Dinner at Claridge's until the next restaurant is open in May 23.
