Barclay Prime Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
Best Wagyu in the east coast.
Everything is top notch here including the service. Bread and butter is also phenomenal.

Let me start by saying that although I rated it a 4, I really see it as more like a 3.5. Decided to checkout Barclay's Prime based on Yelp recommendations and one from a friend. You enter the restaurant and it has what I consider the old school dimly lit steakhouse feel. We had reservations and were seated quickly. I was really glad I had a jacket on because I thought the restaurant was really cold that evening. They served us some bread with butter. Keep in mind that they salt the top of the butter. I found the salt to be overpowering . Personally I recommend asking them to not salt the butter or if they have already done so to scoop the butter from the middle so you can avoid the salt. We decided to get a couple of appetizers. They were the Wagyu Slider Duo and the Lobster Bisque. We had the sliders prepared medium well and I felt like they were more like medium. I thought they were tasty but not extraordinary. The lobster bisque just wasn't my thing. The taste was reminiscent of the lobster shell. Just not a flavor that I was able to appreciate. For dinner we had the Ribeye Steak along with the Chilean Sea Bass. I had the ribeye prepared medium and I felt like it was just slightly undercooked. I thought it was tasty but it did need a little salt. That's strange for me to say because I have been constantly complaining that food is too salty. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and was probably the star of the meal. Every bite was enjoyed. For sides we ordered the potato gratin and the heirloom carrots. I liked the heirloom carrots and they had a strong garlic flavor which I am a fan of. As for the potatoes, they lacked flavor. Not much more to say other than that. We considered getting dessert but my wife wanted to see if the cake could be warmed up and we were told that the icing would melt. It was kind of disappointing because we were hoping they would at least try to accommodate us by offering to bring it up to room temperature. At the end of our meal, our server asked how everything was and I commented that we didn't really care for the potatoes. It was clear to anyone that they had barely been touched. I will admit that I expected our server to either offer a substitute or offer to remove them from the check. She did neither. Overall the service was good but it wasn't anything that stood out to me. I wouldn't say anything negative about our server (other than what I mentioned previously) but I also wouldn't say that she was in any way memorable or went out of her way to accommodate us. It was a pleasant experience visiting the restaurant however I don't think we'll be back.
Amazing.
I have been here a few times in the last 6 months & it has been outstanding each time. Ambiance is dark & comfortable. Great music. Exceptional service. Food is other worldly delicious. The Barclay Prime Cheesesteak is a must. It is an experience. Do it! I recommend the bone-rib eye, Kennet Square Mushrooms & the Mac n Cheese. You will not be disappointed!!!
I'm leaning more towards 4.
5, not quite a 5 star. We went for the experience to try the cheesesteak for bf's birthday, and were actually much more impressed than we thought we would be. I thought I had more pictures, but apparently I did not, so the only 2 photos are attached of the cheesesteak and the lobster. We also had the lobster bisque, scallops, and the wagyu sliders as appetizers. I'm not a huge fan of red meat, so the sliders were plenty for me and they were very good. The meat was very tender and the onions were the perfect topping. Bf really liked the bisque and the scallops were cooked perfectly. I ordered the lobster entree and we split the spinach and potato gratin sides. The lobster was delicious, and the sauce complimented it very well. I would definitely order it again. The sides were plentiful, and we ended up taking almost half of them to go with the rest of the cheesesteak. He enjoyed the cheesesteak, but said it was probably really just a one time thing, as he would rather order a nice steak if we go back, but it was a fun experience. I tried a piece, and the roll was really the stand out for me. I love a good seeded roll. Since I added in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out a small extra cream puff dessert, which was nice. I had the key lime tart and he had the chocolate cake and we both ordered a coffee. Dessert was good, nothing spectacular, but both were a good ending to our meals. We liked the drinks that we ordered, they weren't watered down or too strong and the champagne that came with the cheesesteak was also good. We would definitely go back and keep an earlier reservation time like we did so it wasn't super crowded or too loud inside.
Barclay Prime was a fantastic dining experience.
The food was amazing and the service was perfect. I was there with my family and my son drinks a lot of water and every time he turned around his water glass was filled that kind of attentiveness is worth every dime...

Hands down the best steak I ever had (American wagyu ribeye cap) and my wife's as well (filet). The bread and honey butter amazing (the bread is like and English Yorkshire Pudding with cheese). The 3 sides we had 1 not going to lie you the truffle mashed potatoes id pass on next time 2 the truffle Mac and cheese I'd eat as a meal it was so good 3 the carrots. I'm not a huge veg guy but what did they do. So delicious Lastly the key lime pie. The only thing wrong with it was I ran out after eating the whole thing.

Wrapped up Philadelphia with an amazing evening at Barclay Prime... Forget about the Wine and Bread (pish posh) Seared Diver Scallops, Hamachi Crudo, Chopped Salad, Grilled Broccolini, Kennett Mushrooms, American Wagyu Ribeye Cap, 40 Day Dry-Aged Ribeye, Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée & Cereal Killer Dessert Cocktail. I'd fly back for the Crème Brûlée & Cereal Killer alone

Excellent all around.
From being greeted at the door to almost flawless service and top notch food. Great place to celebrate eating prime steaks.

This places lived up to the hype and I really enjoyed my meal. To start we had the Caesar salad (7/10) and the Cheesesteak (7/10) as an appetizer. I'm not a huge fan of truffle or foie gras but it was good despite that. It basically melted in your mouth with every bite. For my main entree I got the Dover Sole (8/10) which was tasty. For our sides we got the Potato Gratin (7/10), Truffle Mac (7/10), and Broccolini (7/10). For dessert I had the Deep Dish Cookie (7/10) which was good. Half the cookie is oatmeal raisin and the other half is chocolate chip. I wasn't prepared for that but still good. My wife got the Key Lime Tart that was beautifully prepared but I didn't try it. All in all I enjoyed my food and the dimly lit ambiance added to the overall experience. Our service was good as well and the waiter was attentive (the upsell was definitely noticeable but that's something you come to expect at a place of this caliber). I would go back but don't feel the need to get that cheesesteak again. Kind of a 1 and done thing to me.

A meal you don't mind paying $$$$ for! Great space, comfortable seating, impeccable service, great cocktails. Salad, crab cake tartar fabulous. 3 different kinds of steak at our table, all excellent. I had Chilean sea bass, I think it was the best I've ever had. 2 great desserts and hot coffee. Very $$$$ and worth it!
Review of Barclay Prime
Barclay Prime is elegant and top tier. I highly recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant was busy for a Wednesday evening, but using OpenTable makes this easy and convenient. I was greeted by a friendly host who welcomed me for my first dining experience with them and checked my coat. The original table I was seated at was in the corner and uncomfortably close to other guests and the server station. A huge thanks to the server for recognizing this and offering to assist in changing tables. The second table was much better, allowing for me to relax and enjoy the dining experience. I ordered the Chilean Seabass with sides of asparagus and truffle mac and cheese. The food was absolutely delicious. The carrot sauce for the fish was creamy with a hint of spicy, the mac and cheese was rich and savory, and the asparagus had a slight char to it with a light citrus flavor. My husband ordered Wagyu Filet Mignon with a side of truffle mashed potatoes. The meat was cooked to perfection and tender enough to cut without a knife. The mashed potatoes were light and fluffy, almost melt in your mouth. Upscale. Delectable.
Great atmosphere with excellent service.
On top of that the food was delicious. I had the 16oz ribeye, the yellowfin tuna appetizer, and my coworker had the lamb chops. Everything was cooked to desired temps and tasted great. I probably would not order the yellowfin again, the portion was not very satisfying but it was good. The only other thing I would point out is that all of their wines by the glass were a bit pricey for a 5oz pour. It is worth a nice night out to enjoy a great meal!!!
We come here for every single special occasion.
Dates, new jobs, engagement, holidays. They can't miss. The service and the food is incredible. Every single time. We've tried to venture out and switch it up. We were excited for Alpen rose. It was a bust. We were excited for steak 48. It was an overpriced bust. Barclay prime is the only consistent and delicious place we find ourselves going back to every time. It is the best steakhouse in Philly. No question.

This place is AMAZING! The best service and food! If you live in Philly or are just visiting you must try Barclay Prime!!! I recommend the Caesar salad, salmon, fillet mignon, cauliflower and truffled potatoes!
This place is definitely overrated.
The service was great. The food was very expensive and was horrible. We ordered the cheesesteak which was $140. It was terrible, you can get a better one for five dollars in Philly. Chocolate chip skillet was horrible as well. They didn't say that there was raisins in it. We found out when we took a bite. The burgers were the only thing that were good that we had ordered. lobster bisque was horrible and sour. The bread looks good, but wasn't.
Barclay Prime Steakhouse offers a truly delightful dining
Barclay Prime Steakhouse offers a truly delightful dining experience that deserves a solid 4.5 stars. From the moment you step into the restaurant, the library aesthetics envelop you in a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a special evening out. The service is top-notch, with professional staff ensuring that every aspect of your visit is enjoyable. Now, let's talk about the food. We were thoroughly impressed with the lobster-based pasta, a standout dish that left a lasting impression. The quality of the steak was undeniable, evident from the first glance that it was quality sourced. And let's not forget about the dessert - the citrus cloud was a refreshing and unique treat that provided the perfect conclusion to our meal, with its light and fresh citrus flavors. A special mention goes to the rose wine selection, which pleasantly surprised us with its exceptional taste and complemented our meal beautifully! While the king crab didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of freshness, we understand that as a steakhouse, the focus may not be primarily on seafood. Nevertheless, it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise outstanding dining experience. Overall, our time at Barclay Prime Steakhouse was thoroughly enjoyable, and we're already looking forward to returning for another memorable meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a superb steakhouse experience.
Best steak house in philadelphia without a doubt.
Can be quite annoying to drive into the city but the food is fresh and service is on point

10/10 Recommend!! My husband & I celebrated our 6 year anniversary here & it did not disappoint. Vibes are immaculate. It was giving classy library. Lighting is very dim but it sets the mood for sure. Our server was very knowledgeable not only about the food but also about the specific silverware that goes with each entree. We had the Crudo as an appetizer & the Caesar salad. I would honestly return just for the Caesar, it was that good! My husband got the NY strip & shrimp. I had the Poached Butter Lobster that absolutely melted in my mouth. We then shared the truffle Mac & cheese that was rich & creamy! We cannot wait to return & try out the rest of the menu!
I've been wanting to try Barclay Prime for quite some time,
I've been wanting to try Barclay Prime for quite some time, and recently, I finally had the option. What a place! I've been hearing the hype for a long time, but this place really does deliver. First, the ambiance. We specifically reserved a table in the front lounge area, which was wonderful. Exactly the ambiance I was hoping for - lots of space between tables, good privacy, good mood, etc. The dining room looked pretty cool too, but there is much more...awareness...of the other diners. Still though, the dining room would be a great option. The service was also wonderful! From the hostess, to our waitress, to the occasional visit from management, it really was a wonderful experience. What about the food? Well, pretty great! They appear to do popovers in place of the traditional pre-dinner roll, which is great! For those who are familiar with the Jordan Pond House (iykyk), these can definitely compete, though they are definitely made for the more savory side of the pallet where as JPH can go either way. They are served with some delicious butter and are wonderfully cooked. We also had the wagyu sliders, which were exploding with flavor! Worth pointing out, Barclay Prime is one of fewer than 50 restaurants in the United States certified to offer real, legitimate wagyu beef. Yes, everyone these days seems to carry "wagyu," but it's not actually wagyu. We also had the cheesesteak and the truffle mac and cheese. The cheesesteak is not a traditional cheesesteak by any means. Is it worth the cost? probably not. I mean, it's covered in real, shaved black truffle, and it tastes delicious! the truffle mac and cheese is phenomenal! the cheese is incredibly smooth, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the truffle flavor was intense! absolutely delicious! for dessert, they brought a birthday cream puff, which again, delicious! paired with a delicious cappuccino, and that was dinner! honestly, this place is amazing, and i would definitely go back!

Spent more than I planned here but everything was delicious! We got the seabass, lamb, and ribeye. IMO the seabass was incredible but others' favorite was the lamb. Ribeye didn't have the bone and while good it's most noticeable feature is being a large portion. The mushroom side was incredible and would recommend and order again. The other sides were good, as expected, but I'd try other options. Incredible service and yorkshire pudding(!!). Creme brulee was more banana than I'm used-to but still delicious. Classy bathroom, bar, seating bookshelves, etc. Glad we were at the dining room but the lounge or bar doesn't seem that bad. We decided not to do the cheesesteak so I'll have to come back again =)
Great food and service.
Amazing food every time. The popovers are to die for. Steaks always prepared to perfection. Last visit, I had the Dover sole, which was the best piece of fish I’ve ever had. Wait staff is highly professional, attentive but not smothering. Highly recommend.
Horrible experience- unusual for a Star restaurant but no one cared
We did not eat here as service was awful and walked out. This is to alert others. We were first given an awful table and asked to move. Out server was rude and insolent and could have cared less about us. I saw how other servers were treating guests. We walked out, telling the manager how awful the service was, and she could have cared less. I never experienced this before at a Star restaurant.
Casual elegance
We started with cocktails in the bar and they had top shelf liquors. We had rum old fashions. The tables were large with comfortable deep seating. Atmosphere was very nice and the service was fast and attentive all night. Seafood tower was fresh and varied. Order the caviar separately. We had 2 different steaks and a fish. Everyone was very happy with the cook of their entree. Sides were equally well prepared. Steak sears and temps were perfect. The cellar has some unique choices and better bottles were not over priced. Even the desserts were interesting. We had a great time dining.
Barclay Prime- The Best Steak. Period.
Barclay Prime is a wonderful dining experience. I go at least once a year -- a special trip to Philadelphia to have a birthday dinner at Barclay Prime. The serve the best steak I have ever enjoyed. Excellent cuts, cooked to perfection. The wait staff is friendly and professional. And the restaurant has very low level lighting which makes it seem extra special. The only problem is that the dinner is so good, there was no room left for dessert. Nice problem to have I suppose.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
