Corner House Singapore Reviews
A gem hidden in a garden
I have been here a few times in the past 2 years. For birthdays and date night. Each time the service and food was outstanding! Once their in house special bread selections came out. I knew I was in for a treat. The breads were that good!! (I have told my spouse, “If the in house bread is this delicious. Then the meal will be outstanding.”) All the dishes were beautifully plated while the staff tells you the story behind each dish. The most beautiful dish was the icy vinegar vegetables salad. So refreshing and beautiful. The Japanese beef for the main dish was outstanding. Luckily I was able to eaten here a few times before the prices went even higher. Would definitely recommend this for date night and celebrations if you have deep pockets. A great treat.
Amazing food in a beautiful setting
It's not often we're surprised by a restaurant but the dishes at Corner House was amazing. Asian Fusion dishes set in a colonial style building in the middle of the Singapore Botanical Gardens. If you take a taxi or ride share, ask them to drop you off at the Nassim Gate. We gave the address of the gardens which dropped us off at Tanglin Gate and had to walk 10 minutes in humid heat which was not enjoyable. Thankfully they didn't seem too upset with us being 10 minutes late. Service was polite but not overly friendly. Wine pairing was perfect, although the pours were a little stingy for the price. It's definitely a splurge meal but we don't regret it at all.
STUNNING LOCATION BUT….
You cannot fault the Corner House restaurant for its location in Singapore’s Botanic Gardens. It is a stunning location in an old colonial building. I had read many reviews of the fabulous food but on our visit the food was underwhelming. Our scallops were over cooked, the wagyu beef main course arrived with a wedge of sesame crusted lettuce which was an odd accompaniment, the dessert was ok but was accompanied by a raspberry sorbet flavoured with chilli that was overpowering so not an enjoyable dessert. But what bothered me more than the food was the service. When we were seated we were told our choice was a 4 or5 course menu. We chose 1 of each and then ordered a glass of champagne each. However, when our second course arrived I looked around to see that wines were being served with each course at other tables. I called the server over to ask why we were not told of the wine pairing option. He didn’t have an answer. Again, odd. Had they decided upon seeing us that we looked like diners who wouldn’t want the wine pairing option at lunch? And with each course there was meant to be an explanation of the food. Unfortunately our server was not easy to understand. He spoke too quickly while looking down at the plates he’d brought to our table. I learned very little about the foods. And lastly, the restroom. Having a window beside the toilet wide open made for an uncomfortable toileting experience!
Food and service
The welcome and service is good. Every dish is fusion with the blend of east and west. The taste is nice. The main of pork is not common, but very good.I really like it
Michelin cuisine in the Botanic Gardens
Have been visiting Mr. Corner's home for over 20 years. The latest restaurant version is a great addition. The tasting menu is superb and the suggested wine pairings warrent your attention. Splurge for special occasions. Twilight in the Garden is pretty special.
Birthday dinner
Not as fine dining as expected. Fixed menu and price of 228++ per person so was expecting more. Overall ambience could have been better from table setting to way food is serve. Restaurant indoors half filled for a Saturday evening so that says alot.
Great service, good food and pleasant setting
Although they only serve omakase sets, the dishes are very good and pair well with wines. Service is excellent and the setting in Singapore Botanic Gardens is special.
Superb dinner
Food, service & ambiance was really top notch and even good value for money. With so much prompt availability we were worried that would be indicative of the offering, but quite the contrary.
Such a beautiful restaurant inside the Botanical Garden.
Pricey, but a great experience. After orders were placed and they brought out the amuse bouche and the bread. I just knew the meal would be phenomenal. I would have been happy just eating the delicious, light, and fluffy rolls. For me... once house made fresh bread is served, I'm hooked to be thinking the rest of the meal will be awesome, and it really was. Great attention to details and quality. I loved everything in the whole meal. Such beautifully plated dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive.
I came here via train for dinner on a Sunday evening in
I came here via train for dinner on a Sunday evening in early December 2022. It was very easy to get a reservation. I booked my reservation the day before. The entire time I was there from 6:30PM through 8:30PM, I only saw two other parties come after me.The food was very good. Each dish was beautiful and truly unique. It was a six-course pre fixe menu and they said they change the menu every month. Each course came with a note card explaining the chef's inspiration and through process of the dish. They even packaged them up and gave them to you afterwards - quite unique. The courses were perfectly portioned but I had trouble finishing the final main course (the 5th dish). The 6th course which we the dessert course was overwhelming in a good way. They brought out 3 different dishes but I was only able to take a bite out of each. I would highly recommend.
