Went for restaurant wk, Greeted warmly at 6PM, friendly server. Requested our 4 course meal to be served 1 dish at a time as we were sitting side-by-side and planned to share each dish. 1st course came out BOTH fried dishes. Ordered the supplement of uni ($15). I was unsure if we were to enjoy the uni with 1 of the dishes-fritters, battered oysters-both delicious.
Chef was standing in front of us so I said "excuse me" he said "just a minute I'm busy entering an order". At this point maybe 5 or 6 tables had people at them. I asked the uni qtn, he berated the server in front of us bc the uni had not been ordered and he yelled "fire an uni".
While we were eating these 2 dishes, a salad was placed in front of us. I requested to server to please slow this down. We were enjoying the pretty plates, tasty and thoughtful food when the Chef approached with 2 desserts and said "sorry I need to turn this table". I was horrified. Chef then came said "how was dinner?"
I replied "your staff is wonderful, your food is delicious and you are rude". Husband was shocked as I have never made a big deal about a less than stellar experience.
$480 on dinner ($80 was tip). $600 "evening": 1:45 minutes in a car, 1:45 mins consuming a rushed but otherwise terrific dinner.
I cannot imagine why a Chef would treat well-dressed, polite patrons (who ordered other menu items and additional wines ,and always minimally tip 20% on the entire tab) with such disregard.
