This is one of my favorite restaurants! I have been coming here a few times within the past few years and it's always a treat!!! Amazing restaurant in every aspect! Delicious food, great service !!!! I highly recommend this place because it's small and not loud! If you are looking for an excellent French food experience, the food/dessert here is exquisite!!!

Summary: Cute French spot with good, but seldom, eats Details: I'm having a tough time deciding how to review this spot. Cute/fun aesthetic and vibes aside, I'm torn on the return-ability of the spot, given our thoughts on their food, especially as out-of-towners. Allow me to clarify: some of the dishes, like the duck rillettes and duck leg confit were tasty, but not really a flavor profile or taste that I'd ever find myself craving, while some of the other dishes we had, like the bouillabaisse were far too mineral-y for our tastes. As someone who doesn't live in the area, I'm not sure this is a spot I'd come back to on future trips (which would generally garner 2 stars), but as a local, I could see myself coming here on the rare special occasion, so I'm throwing down a three with the aforementioned caveats. Accessibility: There's a mix of seating and spacing availability here, but they'll take care of your seating if you request something accessible. Bathrooms are also accessible!

My friend had been here before and wanted to take me here. It didn't disappoint! Food: French onion is vegetarian AND so good! Mushroom tarte is a shroom explosion and thyme pastry is magnifique! Highly recommend. Bone marrow came with four slices of bread. Need more to soak up all the goodness. Escargot is the butteriest and the bread dipped into it? Amazing. French fries are skinny and thin perfection. I really liked the lemon aioli. Bread basket isn't cheap but we ordered it to dip with the escargots. Drinks: Mango passion fruit juice is delish! Mint tea is so pretty as it comes in a clear tea pot with many leaves (it's poured and taken away) and we got one free refill. Parking is on the street.

We had a private party of 28 guests last week at A Food Affair (in their private dining room) and it was AMAZING!!! The ambiance was lovely, the food delicious (as always) and the service was outstanding. Our guests were enamored with the place and we all had a wonderful time. Such a great celebration. Merci, Babette!!

I had a French blend of cab/merlot, the chocolate cookie, and the beef stew. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely be going back!

Who prepares kale that makes one weep and beg for more? A Food Affair does! Everything was incroyable but the kale that came atop the Brussels sprouts was the most surprising. It was light and crunchy and melted in my mouth like cotton Candy. Anyone who can prepare kale like this can only succeed at everything else on the menu. I highly recommend the mushroom tourte as a starter. Then the rest of the menu is open for exploration. Bon appetite!
Be the first to Reply5 stars for great food & top notch service.
This is a family own business and everyone in the family put in their hours & love. The dad is the chef, mom the hostess, and the kids serve. Food is always good and consistent and workers are always friendly and accommodating. Love this French restaurant!!!

We're so, incredibly glad that we ended up here! We arrived very early to our reservation because there was less traffic than expected and we were seated right away. Street parking is very easy in the neighborhoods nearby and is free after 6.Service was absolutely amazing. They were very kind and checked up on us a reasonable amount. Our plates were also cleared very frequently. They monitor the tables a lot, which I appreciate. Additionally, the chef came out to talk to all of the tables and I was pleasantly surprised! He seems like a very kind man with a nice sense of humor. It was an amazing gesture that was much appreciated by me and my boyfriend. We started off with two cocktails, the passionate affair and the watermelon Margarita. They were both amazing, but the watermelon margarita was our favorite. My boyfriend claims that it's his second favorite cocktail he's ever tried. They were both very light and refreshing. This was our first time eating French cuisine and it really set our expectations high for the next times! The starters we ordered are:-mushroom tourte: PHENOMENAL! Absolutely delicious and so creamy. The puff pastry enhanced the rest of the dish. We'll be thinking about this for a very long time. It was our favorite dish of the night, and probably favorite thing we've eaten in a very long time. I seriously wish I could order 100 of these.-vegetarian French onion soup: this was also good! Very light yet full of flavor. The cheese layer on top added a nice texture and extra flavor as well.-roasted bone marrow: freaking delicious! It melted in my mouth, and spread so well on the bread they give too. I especially appreciated the arugula on the side to top it off.For our entrees:-Mom's beef bourguignon: the beef that came with this was tender, and the stew itself was packed with flavor. I ordered this not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! It's very rich in flavor, hearty, and chunky!-cast iron black angus ribeye steak: this was my boyfriend's dish but I got to try a few bites. Firstly, the sauce they gave was so good and creamy that I swear I could just drink it. The steak itself was also good.-house truffle oil fries: the seasoning tasted fresh and were amazing! Love that they also included a piece of garlic in there. Would recommend! We ended the night with a crème brûlée. The berries topped on were fresh, and the side also complimented it well. It was so soft and creamy! I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I definitely miss this dish too. Overall, we enjoyed every single thing we had and cleaned off our plates. We're absolutely coming back for as long as we're near the area, and recommend you do too!

Be the first to ReplyAn absolutely fantastic dinner in a really casual and cozy
An absolutely fantastic dinner in a really casual and cozy French bistro in the Pico-Robertson area. Parking was very easy in the neighborhood right next to the restaurant, we only had to walk a half of a block. Service was extremely prompt and polite; were able to sit right after we arrived and all of our food items came out quickly. We were checked on many times during the meal as well. We started off with the Bone Marrow and it was one of the better ones that I've had in a long time. The portion was very large and the sourdough with it was plenty. Next came the seasonal Beet Salad and it to it was absolutely delicious. The capers with it were probably my favorite part. A true taste of summer. Finally for our entrée we shared Mom's Beef Bourguignon and it was absolutely perfect. The Pappardelle was al dente and seasoned well, and the beef was also delicious. I do wish there was more beef, but still the flavors were great and it was enough to share for a table of two. We also ordered the homemade iced tea, which was a bit expensive at $8.50 per order, but it is flavored with hibiscuses and they bring out an extra bottle of it that will have at least two refills in it so I felt it was a fair trade because it really was delicious. Overall a great French bistro that would be suitable for any casual occasion. I will definitely be back in the future.

From the Mushroom Tourte that our Server Lisa Recomended to the home made iced tea her mother made and the Lamb Shank her fatherthis restaurant is truly a gem

We went to this place last Saturday, without any reservations. The host was very welcoming. The young lady who was serving us was very welcoming as well and went over the menus and specials. The food is out of this world, we ordered the mushroom appetizer, bone marrow and French onion soup, all delicious and good quality. It's very easy to see when a business owner cares about their customers and their business. Such a great place, people and of course food. Will def. come back!

This quaint restaurant exceeded all of our expectations! We originally planned on just stopping in for dessert to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UCLA (this restaurant came up when we searched for the "best creme brulee in Los Angeles"). However, once we arrived and were immersed in the atmosphere, we ended up staying for appetizers, dinner, dessert, and drinks! The service was above and beyond from the minute we walked into the restaurant needing an accessible table until the moment we left (which I believe was probably after closing time). The food was spectacular, the ambience was perfect, and everyone was kind, accommodating, and attentive. A new favorite restaurant for us. BTW - the creme brulee did not disappoint! Delicious!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious French food.
We were here for dinner and we appreciated the quick service to find our table. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent . We had the duck rillettesas a starter and it was fantastic. we had to order more bread to finish it. LoL definitely recommend this wonderful place
Be the first to ReplyCame here for Dine LA-- pretty good deal.
We were quickly seated and the wait staff was very fast at delivering each course after we completed the last. I hadPassion fruit mango non-alcoholic ($10.95)- sickingly sweet - def came from package which I expected. Will not order again.Dine LA menu $55/ppMushroom torte - pretty good. Truffle oil was very subtle and definitely rich.Australian Lamb shank tagine (+7 add on)- it's in a tagine plate but not sure if it was actually cooked in a tagine -- at least not the one that was served to me. Was not fall of the bone tender but tender enough. Tasty, and just the right amount of fattinessDesserts- we tried all three. the meyer lemon was slightly disappointing because it was mostly whipped cream and seemed to have a citric reduction almost similar to the drink i ordered. the creme brulee was standard but executed well. I think my favorite would be the pot de creme- which came in a martini glass and was basically a whipped chocolate pudding-- still good. Solid French faire and nice ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyFood was delicious.
Came in for dine la and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant decor was eclectic and added to the experience. Had the lamb shank and the salmon. Food was outstanding. I highly recommend the experience.

The mushroom starter was so damn good! I can't explain in words how happy I was with the Lamb shank! Tender, no game taste and the added flavor with the vegetables went great together. 1st place I've been since leaving Germany 4 years ago that I actually liked the Lamb Shank. Definitely come try it.

This place is now my favorite restaurant in LA and I will be going there every chance I get. The ambience is incredible, it is that classic hole in the wall spot that starts great and gets better. The ambience is warm and intimate with hand-picked vintage pieces adorning the inside. I had the pleasure of trying the brussel sprouts, mushroom pastry, truffle fries and escargot to start. The brussel sprouts are smoked which is an experience of its own. I could barely get any of the puff pastry because my friend nearly devoured it after the first bite. I was guilty of that with the escargot, which is creamy and exactly the right flavor. We had the flash fried snapper and duck for the mains. The snapper is served as a whole fish and has a beautiful presentation (for my food bloggers out there). The flavor is amazing on its own (did you know the cheek is the best part?) but is also served with a light sauce that makes it that much better. The duck was supple with a bit of a crisp on the outside and with a flavor that I can only describe as WOW.This restaurant somehow serves gourmet and high end food that is not only beautiful but filling. So rare. To top it all off, it is owned and operated by a family that hails from the south of France. I know this because they went out of their way to serve us personally, as they did with every other customer in the restaurant. The chef is the dad of the family and he hand prepares each dish. He came to check on us personally after the mains were served to make sure everything was to our liking. The mother acts as the maitre d and was so kind and inviting. I really felt like I was a part of the family. It is going to be hard to find another restaurant I want to go to after this experience. If I could give 6 stars I would but go experience it for yourself, you will not regret it!

Absolutely love this family-owned business and the hole-in-the-wall-esque vibe with brick walls and vintage decor... food was amazing. I was able to try a number of the menu items -- escargot, Brussels sprouts, fish, puff pastry, cake, crème brûlée, fries, etc. and every single dish, the taste was right there! Full of flavor and authenticity. The owners -- originating from the south of France -- are working all the time, serving customers. Such a homely ambience, would come 1000 times over x thank you for having me!
