Abacá San Francisco Reviews
Filipino brunch
Heard about this restaurant on Eater. I have actually stayed at this hotel before, back when it was a Holiday Inn, which was probably confusing because there's a Holiday Inn Express around the corner that serves free breakfast. This Holiday In
A very poor restaurant at any price.
This is truly one of the worst restaurants that I have ever eaten at in my life. I ordered a crab scramble. I got a raw egg, snow crab which i don't eat, and tofu which I also don't eat. A mandatory 25% tip and they ask what you want to
A must visit for sophisticated filipino cuisine in the Bay Area
If you're in the Bay Area, this spot is a must-try. The restaurant elevates Filipino cuisine with incredible finesse, offering a modern twist on traditional dishes. I dined solo at the bar and tried a variety of dishes, including pork lumpia, po
Wonderful twist on the menu
We had good recommendations about Abaca and being near to where we were staying…. The food we had was a mix of the secret menu appetizers and four small plates ( all delicious). The service was good and the wine was good!
Good food, poor value
We went to Abaca to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. There was 6 of us, we ordered tasting menu for $85 and a drink each. Their food was good for the most part. Pork chop was very salty. The portions were small, they gave us one serving of sisig r
Eat before you go
Portions are small and price is high. Expect to stay for hours to wait for their food. If you want an actual meal go somewhere else.
Rip off. Need a lot of patience
Rip off. Overpriced for small portion Filipino food. The tasting menu was not worth the price and took way too long to serve. The kitchen simply cannot handle the demand. If this is the case then don't take on our business.
AMAZE! AMAZE!! AMAZE!!!
Anthony Bourdain would have loved this restaurant!!! Every dish has a story and the cocktails are “perfectly balanced!”
Good food ! Mediocre to bad wait staff.
The food is amazing. However, the staff is not. The waitstaff is arupt and not very attentive. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full. There were plenty of employees. We had to ask for our drinks twice because it was never served. The bread wa
Excellent food and service
Great experience last night. Place was packed but reservations worked perfectly. Incredible service by our server Aler with management stopping by throughout the meal helping to deliver hot dishes and checking on us to ensure everything was perfect.
Delicious
Stop reading reviews and go get a meal at Abaca. It's absolutely delicious. (And great vego options too). It's amazing.
One of San Francisco's Best Restaurants
Spectacular! If you are reading this, STOP. Go straight to Abaca. Seriously! My wife is a serious foodie. I am less so, but still enjoy a good meal. At Abaca, you won't get a good meal. You will get a great meal. Amazing food. Pig’s ear
Sensational food, lovely people.
Sensational! So good we are here 3 times in our 5 day stay. Filipino cuisine served by such friendly staff who explained the food and took pride in it. So many dishes to recommend but narrowing down to the pork lumpia, Dungeness crab salad, fri
Highly recommend
Four people for dinner. This place was hopping. We did the tasting menu for the table which is ( depending on how hungry you are) an easy way to taste a dozen different dishes. There was not a disappointment in any dish. Inventive, appealing flavorfu
Amazing!
Amazing food and staff! The team went out of their way to help us on a travel day. The food was outstanding, and I highly recommend!
Great foodie restaurant in San Francisco
This is expensive but well worth it. The food is delicious and the service attentive. The chef himself brought us our dessert and chatted with us for a while which was a nice touch. We had a selection of sharing plates called ‘leave it to the chef
Go for the drinks not the food.
VERY DISAPPOINTED, BUT the ambiance was nice. Go for the drinks not the food. This place is not worth what they charge at all, certainly not for the brunch and food we had. The meats were overly marinated and salty served with salty Fried rice was j
Full marks
Delicious Philippine food. You would not expect such a nice restaurant within a hotel. They offer small plates to share, really varied choice - everything extremely high quality and extremely tasty. Standout dishes included the wagyu beef and the squ
One of the best meals I have ever experienced
I took my wife to this restaurant tonight for her birthday and had one of the best experiences with one of the best original meals I have ever ate in my 56 years. I am so exited to know that there is such fanatic talent out there in the culinary tr
Good to try
We were staying at the Kimpton Alton for a week vacation over the Labor Day week and ate here for a late dinner once and then for a few drinks at the bar another time. Most of the food we had was good, wine menu very limited but the Kokomo Chardonnay
Great food and cocktails!
Excellent service & amazing food and cocktails. We sat at the bar to eat and we were not disappointed. Very lively atmosphere with a live DJ. They do add 20% for tip automatically regardless of the party size.
Beware. 20% tip is automatically added to your bill
My wife and I went there for a romantic dinner. Food was very good but they did not manage to get both main dishes out at the same time. So my wife started eating after I was finished with my meal. But what really got me was the 'forced tip' ... 20%
unusual flavors
The NYT states that this is one of the best 50 restaurants in the US. It did not disappoint. The bass with the mousseine was outstanding, as was the smokey fried rice.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Abacá San Francisco at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Abacá San Francisco page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* CandidReceipt32, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* CandidReceipt32 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to CandidReceipt32 for any questions Peter may have as CandidReceipt32 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* CandidReceipt32 now uses their connections at Abacá San Francisco to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If CandidReceipt32 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, CandidReceipt32 receives the $200 reward which is credited to CandidReceipt32's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Abacá San Francisco!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
