We really wanted to like this restaurant
Atmosphere and service are modern and create a nice vibe. The wines are of good quality and the service staff is knowledgeable in this regard. The problem is the value for money. Of the approximately 10 courses, three were good, but not memorable. Two of the courses I would rate as poor when it comes to taste. We go to restaurants of this type frequently and it is these restaurants that we are comparing the taste of the food and the price of the menu to. At โฌ185 for the small menu and the courses you get, the price is totally unreasonable. There are other quality restaurants in Vienna that serve innovative, tasty small course menus for between โฌ100-144,-. A shame as we would have liked to add this restaurant to our list of favorites.
Be the first to ReplyStart with a fail - but food was good
The restaurant was a recommendation from. Friend from Vienna who is really good on choosing the right spot. We need to say that the food and wine selection was really good. The price level is high but worth the money. BUT the service had super bad start, we reserved a table for 7pm and arrived by taxi at 6:45. the personnel recognized us and let us know through the window that despite a reservation at 7 pm they only open at 7 pm. Hence we kept staying at a freezing cold day in front of a supposed top restaurant on the street. After a while, they let us in and told us we need to show at 7 for a 7 pm reservation, what a fail. In a top restaurant at this level you always are service oriented and take customer experience first, not at the Aend. The second downside is the rush. They really serve great food and excellent wine but when you finish one of 11 courses, the next one is already there. That clearly limits a great experience which is the standard at a great restaurant and distinguishes from an average one at this price level of 200โฌ per dinner plus 120โฌ for wine per person.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding lunch
We visited aend as part of our honeymoon. We had lunch which was wonderful. The staff, service, wine and food were all first class. The service was prompt and the staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food was creative and I couldn't recommend highly enough.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price you pay for it
The food was very nice and innovative, it means the restaurants have very good cooks, the combination with wines was adequate - BUT: it is NOT worth the money you pay for it. In comparison with other restaurants with stars Michelins the service was very poor and not adequate - with fundamental mistakes, like not compentent comments of the sommeliers about wines and not careful serving. In such restaurants - we paid 1350 Eur fior 3 persons - a much better service is expected.

-1 point for the food: 11 course menu - 3 hours - this is a time for a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Half of the set was RAW, for Christโs sake - a RAW FOIE GRAS? For 200 Eur P.P. You would get a really great max. 7-Dish set with exquisite wine. The cook should learn how to cook classics before experimenting with modern direction, especially Japanese. I left the restaurant hungry and exhausted. The lamb was raw, the fisch (main course) was tasteless. The starters were fine however. -1 point for wine accompaniment. Japanese wine. Seriously?! Sweet wine for fish? 2 positions were desert wine. And for desert we got a cheap porto. White Chateauneuf du Pape? Ever a french cook would think twice. Greek wine however was surprisingly good. And of course the one from Mosel region - but again too sweet!!! This is really a NO-GO. -1 point for ambiente, location and staff Location is erm โฆ strangeโฆ down-and-out people around, Proletarian street. Inside the restaurant- lack of cosiness, the direction of asceticism, the tables however are really well-thought with the tableware space built inside the table. The staff os very young, ambitious and therefore arrogant and unable to take the criticism positively. If you are mid-20ies - you have seen nothing, you have not been in Michelin stars restaurants as a client, you have no idea what a client looks for. However we got the impression (I wish it was wrong) that our criticism is more offending, rather than encouraging to get better. So please, if you want to get a star, reduce raw positions, be more classy, reduce the number of positions overall, and change the wine choice. Xoxo Gossip girl.
