5/5 by 👻 @Brandon D. on 06/05/2024

We snagged some reservations for a Friday night during our trip to Toronto. We dined in the dining room and had the tasting menu. This was one of my favorite dining experiences I have had and was my favorite spot we tried in Toronto. We had to wait a few minutes before our table was ready and they had these little areas by the window and maybe order a drink for us to wait at. We started off with cocktails which I enjoyed. They also gave us some complimentary glasses of sparkling wine for our anniversary. Every dish was delicious. All of the staff were super helpful and so knowledgeable about every dish. It really felt like they were all very passionate about their jobs. We will definitely be back to try another rendition of their tasting menu!

We recently dined at this remarkable restaurant that exceeded our expectations from the moment we walked through the door. The ambiance was inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food was simply outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. We left feeling completely satisfied and eager to return for another unforgettable dining experience.

We went for Sunday brunch and it was amazing! Incredible food and great service all wrapped in a charming, high-end "diner" atmosphere. I got the burger, my wife got the chicken and waffles and the kids got the crepes. I'm not good at describing food but they were all unbelievable (I made sure to sample everyone's plate!). Can't wait to try the dinner menu.

5/5 by 👻 @Nick P. on 04/08/2024

To get to this place, it's attached to Aloette but it's a separate entrance. You should be able to see an entrance with stairs and an employee waiting by the elevator. You walk inside, tell the employee you're here for your reserved time, and then they send you up the elevator. After you walk out, they offer you a complimentary coat check. The dining room ambience is dark, intimate, and sophisticated. It's also more on the quieter side, so that you can have an actual conversation with the person or people you're with. We did the tasting menu in the dining room for $225 without tax and tip. It was about 12 courses total. I'll attach a picture of the menu along with everything I ate. Service was perfect and superb. Our empty plates were taken away when we finished and they kept our table clean. They provided a well detailed description of each course. The tasting easily breaks into my top 5. It's difficult to choose a singular favorite dish as they all were perfectly prepared, seasoned, elegant, and the presentation was immaculate. Yes, I was completely satiated by the end of the meal. This was definitely one of the highlights from my trip.

Must do for foodies!

5/5 by 👻 @mazatar on 04/07/2024

If you appreciate culinary art and the variety of flavours you should absolutely try to get a booking at Alo. It's not just dinner, it's an experience that I can only compare to visiting a gallery or opera. The service is incredibly attentive but in no way destructive, the drinks are perfection (especially if you love watching bartenders do their magic like I do) and food is just so well balanced and thought through. As someone who doesn't do fine dining often I can honestly say this is worth every penny and I hope it always gets the appreciation it deserves.

Came here for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint.

5/5 by 👻 @Andy S. on 02/29/2024

We had the 6 course tasting menu $120 First course: tuna sashimi. This course was okay. It was served with cream cheese but the sashimi has a little fishy taste. Second course: Foie gras pate - very refreshing with citrus taste. Third course: risotto it with black truffle with dashi soup. East meets west. Italian risotto with Japanese dashi soup Fourth course: Pan seared scallop - Cooked to perfection. Crunchy on the outside and soft and moist inside. Fifth course: Veal was very tender and full of flavour. So soft that it almost melts in your mouth Sixth course: chocolate mousse with ice cream and various desserts Service is top notch. She is very friendly and always smiling. The ambiance is rather dark but romantic as we are sitting on the bar side. The only complaint is it is hard to take pictures of the food with such low light :)

anticipation not quite met

3/5 by 👻 @Jamie R on 01/29/2024

I had tried to get a reservation to Alo for the longest time, so I was very excited when I managed to secure one. Anticipation built over the week leading up to the visit, but didn't quite match the expectations I had for Canada's best restaurant. The service was great- All the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. The barroom was small and intimate, and I felt like I was in a cool, secret part of the city, although the music was just loud enough so that no conversation could be intimate or private. I really expected to be wowed by the menu selection, presentation and taste. None blew me away. It was almost like the "A" crew had the night off. Everything tasted very good- There wasn't a bad item on any dish, but I was hoping for much better, and left Alo feeling a bit duped that I could have gotten this meal at numerous restaurants.

Good things don't always come to those who wait

3/5 by 👻 @TheAvidObserver on 01/27/2024

I had wanted to visit Alo for some time. Perhaps it would have been better were I still waiting. While overall there's little to fault, there's equally little to praise. The service was praise worthy, though with nearly a one to one ratio of staff to table, anything less would have been inexplicable. The room itself deserves less praise; simple and unfussy, but also not as elegant or refined as one might expect when enjoying a meal approaching four figures, though most disappointing was the selection of music, which included hip hop and rap and sounded curated to appeal to the often younger, self proclaimed "influencers". The environment offered little ambience, certainly not one consistent with the anticipated experience of eating meticulously prepared, beautifully plated, and professionally served dishes. As for those dishes, the reason one ultimately goes to Alo and the few restaurants recognized globally for still investing silly amounts on kitchens filled with 15-20 white coated chef's acknowledging their leader with "yes chef" in military precision, it was simply good. That's the greatest disappointment of the Alo experience, that the sum of all that training and military precision in the kitchen when finally plated is only good. The menu the evening I dined leaned very heavily into Japanese inspirations and flavour profiles. French ingredients and techniques applied to Japanese flavours has worked well for many higher end restaurants for decades, but here the repetition of an often singular flavour, in this case the fermented flavour one might find in a delicate bowl of miso soup, carried through several of the served 10 courses showed less creativity then the chef and his team are likely capable of. So after trying to secure a reservation personally for well over a year, and then having a concierge service take over for another couple of months before finally finding a mid week early evening time slot, the expectations set together with the restaurant's recent Michelin recognition were perhaps too high to have been met. For those with enough curiosity and disposable income, I say try it and form your own opinion, and for all others I say that sometimes it's better to wait. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155019-d8443957-r935707945-ALO_RESTAURANT-Toronto_Ontario.html#

I was lucky to visit this place for my birthday.

5/5 by 👻 @Soyoung H. on 01/12/2024

I always had hard time securing the spot since their reservations fill up quite quickly! My significant other and I participated in the Dining room tasting menu, which is $225 per person. Upon arrival, you are greeted by a host that will take you upstairs. You go upstairs by this tiny elevator, and it is pretty slow. They help with coat check and take you to your table. Overall, the service is top-notch. From checking in before you begin your meal to when you leave the table to use the washroom, and keeping you company if your partner is gone for a few minutes! I enjoyed all the detailed descriptions of each menu, but at one point, I just could not pay attention since I was thrilled to try all the delicious dishes. I liked how there was enough space for the chair and the table. We were able to sit next to each other and enjoy our meal together. You can do some upgrades with extra but we did not opt in for it. We might do it if we revisit it, but I do not think it's necessary. My significant other's favourite restaurant is Scarpetta in Las Vegas (he has visited here at least 10 times), and said Alo could be better than them. Every dish has unique ingredients that harmonize in your mouth. Every first bite my partner and I had, we were heavenly. I just enjoyed every single menu and could not ask for more. There are a variety of desserts. We were able to finish ours, but one of our friends who had visited in the past had to bring them home as they were too full. So do expect to get full by the end of the course! I was also given another dessert on the side with a candle to celebrate my birthday. They were extremely sweet about it. Although there is no specific dress code for this place, I would dress up in a classy way to match the place's ambiance. It was one of the most phenomenal experiences I had in 2023. I would love to revisit and try their Summerlicious/Winterlicious program.

4/5 by 👻 @Cynthia W. on 01/01/2024

With all the hype that Alo gets, my expectations were pretty high coming in for a New Year's Eve tasting menu. We were seated in the bar room, which wasn't very spacious, but had a nice moody aura. Though Alo is labelled as a French restaurant, our seven course meal was surprisingly Japanese, with components like bluefin tuna sashimi, sake kasu, and maitake mushrooms. My favourite courses were the koshihikari rice white truffle risotto and the east coast scallop topped with caviar. Flavours of each dish were well balanced in every course, tasting best with all elements in one bite. Service was great throughout the evening. My friend didn't like the foie gras (our second course), and the waiter promptly replaced it with a citrus-y beet salad. We appreciated that they were well prepared for such a scenario, especially with how rich the foie gras is. Fresh cutlery was provided with every course, with the waitstaff clearing the table in sync. I was content with my experience, and I do think Alo deserves their star, but with a price point of $250pp, I wasn't entirely blown away. You are also required to pay the full amount upon booking. I'd love to come back in the future to see if the dining room experience is different.

A Very Special Evening

Having eaten at other Aloette Bar, Aloette, and take-out during the pandemic, finally I managed to reserve at the Alo Dining Room. We had the eleven course tasting menu with the nine course wine pairings (2 oz. each). Starting with a warm welcome, we proceeded to a quiet dining room, that was never crowded nor hurried, creating a leisurely atmosphere. The servers are outstanding, well trained and a well honed team. They are attentive but never obtrusive. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. My date and I have lived in many countries and visited many more. We rated this meal among the best we have eaten. It is expensive but the expense is justified.

As I recount my latest experience at Alo, I grapple with

4/5 by 👻 @Jenn W. on 10/28/2023

As I recount my latest experience at Alo, I grapple with the final mark: would I still consider them a 9 or a "top pick"? There were dishes that were incredible, but then some that missed the mark. The tasting menu ($225 per person) was off to a shaky start when the canapés arrived. We're instructed to eat the four bites in a particular order. The first, an oyster with compressed cantaloupe and Iberico ham oil had a fishy essence without an acidic element (like the traditional mignonette or lemon) to help cut through the strong taste. It also seemed off that it wasn't ice cold for something that should be served uber fresh. The first bite was a bust. Slowly, the redemption started with the beautifully presented uni tart, which was made even creamier with a thick crème fraiche on the bottom. While this wasn't mind-blowing, it was at least not repulsive. After the fishy oyster I had doubts about the mackerel tart, but this was unfounded as the meaty fish was very clean tasting and well balanced with bright pops of the daintiest tomatoes and fruit. Indeed, there was an ocean-like essence from the caviar, but it wasn't overpowering. The canapés ended with a foie gras and strawberry jelly tart that created a sweet and savoury element. This was surprisingly good and wonderfully rich. It's unclear if Alo is pandering to Michelin inspectors as the procession of Japanese dishes just seem out of place at a French restaurant. Sure, I can understand if they want to throw in one dish that's has a Japanese influence, but to feature a handful was just too much. Moreover, some dishes just can't live up to what you'd be served during an omakase meal. Chef Patrick Kriss should drop the madai course, a sea bream paired with chili oil, caviar, and kumquat. Like the oyster, it was fishy and warm. Give me this fish cool with freshly grated wasabi and soy sauce any day. The kinmedai was better, the red snapper was at least cold and refreshing with the oh so finely julienned radish in the centre. The various oils complimented the fish nicely and this was an improvement over the other sashimi course. If Alo must have a sashimi course (why would it), one is enough. Having a soft spot for chawanmushi I wouldn't be opposed to this remaining on the menu. The actual steamed egg was hot and silky, but then enhanced with lovely French and Western elements: smooth foie gras tofu cubes, fragrant truffle paste, crunchy radish, sweet corn, and crispy chicken skin. All this amongst a pool of reduced capon broth. What an incredible dish! This is a long review, head to Gastro World for the rest.

Nice but not Michellin worthy

3/5 by 👻 @LD100Toronto on 10/19/2023

Had the tasting menu at the bar. The atmosphere and service were great! Unfortunately, the food did not live to my expectations. Of the 6 courses, loved 3 ( crudo, risotto and scallop dishes). The foie gras tart was bland and dessert tasty but uninspiring. Where the restaurant really lost me is on the steak course, which was tough and chewy. For a Michellin star restaurant inexcusable. Overall, had a nice dinner but definitely did not feel like a Michelin dining experience.

We loved the food! Great presentation and friendly staff. Had the six course menu at the bar room for $120 with wine pairing that was worth the price. Staff gracefully waived the charges for my husband’s wine pairing (with tiny quantities for medical reasons) which was a nice touch. Thanks Anthony! Wagyu beef for an extra $90 was superb! All’s great, except the entrance that leads to an old decrepit elevator that gave us the impression we’re going to a warehouse. A downer for such a great restaurant. However, as we went there for the food, it was worthwhile.

5/5 by 👻 @Mercedes I. on 09/27/2023

Ambiance was nice but note that the tables are very small and tight together. Service was good but I have had better at other fine dining establishments. Portions were very small, but I did not come ravenously hungry, so I was satisfied and happy by the end of the meal. Hamachi sashimi - divine. Sitting atop some very flavourful oils. Foie gras tart with strawberry gelé and crème fraîche - super different and interesting, but way too rich Rice - very creamy and buttery, the crispy rice on top adds great texture and grapefruit pulp adds a refreshing tang Scallop and mussel in foam - a perfectly seared scallop is the way to my heart Steak - not a steak lover but even I thought this was great. Eggplant tempura on the side. Bread - very rich and oily bread. Adding butter on top seemed like overkill. Came warm. Dessert - a delicate and light peach cake, passion fruit caramel, canelé, strawberry jelly, and a birthday dulce de leche dessert with candle (not pictured). Although this meal stretched my budget, it was an adventure in food and well worth it for a special occasion.

Went for dinner on Saturday, September 16th, four of us. We ate in the bar, the six course menu for $120, very good value - I've paid much more for the same in other restaurants. The food was excellent - delicious taste combinations, small portions to be sure, be if you are after taste and not gluttony, then there's plenty of food. Started out with cocktails - all four of us found them to be very well made. All told just over $200 per head - much better value than an evening at the Maple Leafs. Two bottles of wine - among the cheapest on the wine list, one a very smooth Crozes Hermitage. Service was outstanding. We told them that we had to be out by 10.45 pm (started at 8pm), and they paced it so that we were out at 10.50 pm. Glasses were never allowed to stand empty. Napkin refreshed whenever anyone went to the bathroom. Staff was very enthusiastic. It was the bar, so a little cramped for space, and the lighting was darkish, but acceptable. We will go back for the ten course offering in the restaurant (assuming that we can get a reservation).

We went to Alo tonight and sat at the kitchen table tasting.

4/5 by 👻 @Alan Y. on 08/24/2023

Overall, I say their dishes were on point and I did enjoy the evening. If there was only one negative, it would be the wine service. I ordered an old fashion to start the night, then I choose to order a Pinot from burgundy off the menu, instead of doing their wine pairing. Since I prefer red wine over white, and the wine pairing was predominantly white. I enjoyed the wine that I did get, but it was unfortunate that I didn't get the bottle opened till we were already 3-4 course into our meal. Their 'famous' sommelier, Christoper, nice guy, maybe too friendly, seems to focus too much on diners doing the wine pairings, and totally negated peeps that order bottles. I still have like 1/3 of the bottle when we got to dessert, since it was opened so late into our service. At least they packed the bottle up for take home. I found out later that do they allow corkage at $80 a bottle. If that is their usual wine service for ordering bottles, I should've just brought my own bottle from my cellar.

What a unique and wonderful dining experience!! Service was stellar from the moment we entered. I communicated with this restaurant several months in advance and made sure they could accommodate my wife's dietary restrictions for her birthday celebration. They explained they could not modify the menu in their main dining room, but would if we sat in the bar area. Considering the high quality of being a Michelin restaurant, I readily accepted. We both loved our experience. They saved a special corner table (# 26) for us, overlooking the rest of the bar area. Food was a 5-course menu for $120 ea. Drinks were an additional $189, for a total of $429 CAD. Joy, our server took great care of us. Food was exquisite. We would love to return.

We got seats at the kitchen counter, and for food nerds like us, it was a major treat to watch the chefs work. We were only seeing the tail end of the preparation that goes into creating such dishes, but that alone was impressive. This same attention to detail was noticeable in the service, which was attentive without being intrusive. Loved our experience here!

Food: 9/10Service 10/10I really loved my experience here! The canapes, Hokkaido Scallop, Shima Aji, Wagu & Oyster, East Coast Lobster, Japanese A5 wagyu, Lemongrass & Limquat were all exquisite! Alo definetely has the most unique and unbeatable flavor. However, the pasta dish was not up to my expectations and failed to impress me. But let me tell you about the Japanese A5 Wagyu - it was simply divine! The meat melted in my mouth, and I finally understood what Gordon Ramsay meant by saying how steaks would melt in his mouth. It was so much better than any other steak I've had. Although it did get too fatty in some bites, to the point where I chugged my entire mocktail, I didn't notice the wasabi at first, but once I did, it changed the taste in the most delightful way.As for the Lemongrass & Limequat, it was refreshing and light, and I simply adored it. The Mont Blanc Petit fours were a little too sweet for my taste, but the coffee balanced it out. I especially loved the box that came with the dessert; I wanted to take it home with me!I must commend the waitstaff; they were all lovely and made my dining experience even more delightful. All in all, I truly enjoyed my time here and can't wait to come back!

the raved about restaurant in downtown Toronto. we looked forward to the 10-11 course tasting menu for this Michelin star restaurant we arrived in the ground floor foyer and took an elevator to the third floor greeted soon as the elevator arrived and coat check. Nice. invited to our seats our straight way generous seats near the window ..... view to people watch over the restaurant ....first thing I noted was the buzz of the service staff. they were everywhere!!!waiters waitresses. it's an " open kitchen" and there must easily been 15 staff deep it was a constant sea of movement everyone busily bustling. it was obviously going to be an attentive evening. and it was. So in one respect it was good we did not lack getting someones attention BUT we had probably at least 6 different servers during the meal. there was no consistency or continuity of " personal " service i I thought would be a feature of this type of restaurant ...unfortunately the majority of the staff we encountered spoke. with thick accents that were difficult for me to understand within the din and bustle of movement. I had to ask many times for them to repeat their descriptions of the courses presented to us the timing between the courses was OK but a little disconcerting being quickly cleared away and set up for the next serving by yet another fresh face The tastings!!!unfortunately a definite disappointment !!! reading the menu seemed very impressive there were a number of exotic items and or references but it's my impression they were not well put together and the sauces used were not particularly well put together The presentation of the dishes were ok and as I expected the emphasis would be on the sizzle and not the steak! I have come to expect it's a chore to keep the lights on BUT the flavour combos and portion sizes were a huge disappointment !!! this is just a personal note and review but I felt only 3 of the eleven offerings came close to the category of interesting and good now for a moment please picture each "course" consisting of one table spoon or perhaps 2 table spoons of. whatever ! pretentiously described food that was served. please step back a minute !!! we had a modest Chardonnay at 150 per bottle The bill came to $ 725 with the tip I have dined out at a lot of places in Canada and abroad and my personal judgment this establishment is way over related the attention to service is well intended but poorly organizedthe ambiance for fine dinning well below the mark the food uninspiring maybe an off night but not sure I ll return for another try at this price point kind regards and good luck

The food, the wine selection, the service is fantastic We got the pleasure to be served by Kate and she went above and beyond to make our first time here like the best ever ! The restaurant is on the pricey side, but it’s 💯 worth it ! Can’t wait to be back and try out more dishes

I had wanted to go for a while and kept missing the drop

5/5 by 👻 @Rui M. on 02/25/2023

I had wanted to go for a while and kept missing the drop dates for reservations, so I was excited when I was finally able to get one. I can see why this place was awarded a Michelin star. Everything about our meal from start to finish was amazing. The service staff were all very caring and attentive to our needs. The lighting and ambiance of the restaurant was really nice and felt very cozy. We got our own little booth and after ordering drinks, we started the tasting menu. Every course was well explained, and although they were small bites, which was to be expected, it was delicious. My favourite course of the night was a lobster dish with a creamy egg sauce. They were many courses, so I'm not going to go into each one, but there was a heavy influence of French and Japanese cuisine. Overall, I would say the experience and the food is worth the price. Its not something I would do on the regular, but it was very nice going and seeing what the hype was about. I would say it is one of the best dining experiences I've had in Toronto.

Food: 5Decor: 5Service: 5Came here with 2 work colleagues after my girlfriend recommended it. It was also to celebrate our birthdays (mine was 2 weeks prior, one was that next week, and the other was 2 weeks after). Overall, incredible spot for only 1 Michelin star (maybe the best I've been to), and would definitely come back again the next time I'm in town.Dining Room Tasting Menu, 225I won't get into each dish since there were 11 in total, but the highlights were probably the shima aji, lobster, and wagyu.Menu:Hokkaido ScallopShima AjiSunchokeAlaskan King Crab and UniKoshihikari RiceLobsterPeking DuckProvimi VealJapanese A5 Wagyu StriploinCoconut and MatchaGuanaja Pots de CremePetit FoursService was superb, on par with 2 and 3 star restaurants. The awards are definitely deserved:#1 Canada's Best RestaurantsCanada's 100 Best, 202095.50%La Liste, 2023#90World's 50 Best Restaurants, 201997.50%, #0La Liste, 20181 StarMichelin Guide, 2022#1 Best RestaurantsToronto Life, 2018

5/5 by 👻 @Derek L. on 02/19/2023

Shocked that I haven't reviewed Alo yet! I try to make it a habit of coming here at least once or twice a year to try their different seasonal tasting menus and they always hit it out of the park. This place is easily a 2 Michelin Star restaurant by the guide's definition of "excellent cooking, worth a detour" (even though the guide only gave Alo 1).The flavour profiles range from simple to complex and how they mix flavours, textures, and visuals is amazing. Having been to a few 1,2, and 3 Michelin star restaurants around the world, this place is phenomenal. If you live in Toronto, this is an absolute must. If you come from abroad, plan ahead and eat here if nowhere else.Logistically, to get a prime time reservation slot, you have to plan ahead. They open 2 months worth of reservations on the first Tuesday of the month. So on April 4, 2023 reservations open up for May and June. I believe the tasting menu is now $225 per person for 9 courses and every dish is built to perfection, and when you're done, you'll realize it was worth every penny.Service is incredibly attentive and they are super humble. Not pretentious at all. Everything from their service, to their food, to the atmosphere, is top-tier.If you are looking for a place that truly defines the Toronto high-end culinary scene, look no further.

5/5 by 👻 @Maya L. on 01/26/2023

This place has been on my list for years, it was definitely worth the wait. My boyfriend and I went with the full tasting menu and got a cocktail each with our meals. Here are my thoughts on the courses:0. Canapés - love the presentation and taste of every bit. It was a great balance of unique flavours, mostly savoury and creamy. My favourite bite was the smoked salmon with caviar. The tart crust was so crispy, the salmon was very fresh and the caviar was a great pop of flavour. 1. Hokkaido Scallop - these were the best scallops I've had! Super fresh with a hint of sweetness. The zesty sauce was a great compliment. 2. Wagyu & Oyster - one of my favourite bites of the night. The wagyu was so buttery. I usually don't enjoy raw oyster, but this was very fresh. The 2 purées were refreshing and light. Excellent balance to the buttery wagyu. 3. Shima-aji - these sashimi slices were so fresh. The spot of yuzu really brought out the natural flavour of the fish. 4. East Coast Lobster - thoroughly enjoyed this dish as well. The lobster was springy and sweet. The uni was very creamy with a light salty flavour. The egg based sauce added to the creaminess of the dish. This was a very filling and comforting dish. 5. Koshihikari Rice - this dish resembled a risotto. Loved the mushrooms used. The rice itself was slightly on the saltier side. 6. Swordfish - very unique chewy texture. Loved the flavour of the spicy peppers and sauce. 7. Pecking duck - very tender and flavourful. The purée was an amazing complement to the meaty flavour of the duck. Be sure to eat them together! 8. Provimi Veal Tenderloin - this tasted so much better than it looked. It was one of the most tender steaks I've had. The light salt brings out the natural flavour of the meat. Don't skip out on the eggplant purée! It was an excellent complement to the veal if you wanted a stronger smoky flavour. I should also shoutout the butter milk bread, so soft and buttery! 9. Dessert 1 - love the chestnut praline topping. Inside the chocolate dome contained ice cream and meringue. A delightful dessert with many textures and flavours. 10. Petit Fours - contained yuzu Madeline, chocolate tart. Chocolate rum Choux, and Canelé. This was my first time having Canelé and I absolutely loved it! Overall one of the best dining experiences I've had! The waiter and all the staff were super attentive and friendly. Definitely worth the price :)

I've been wanting to go here for a while and was worried

5/5 by 👻 @Deanne M. on 01/04/2023

I've been wanting to go here for a while and was worried that reservations would be hard to get after they received their Michelin star. Luckily I was able to get one, but they do get filled up quick! I made the reservation over Tock about 2 months in advance.Right when we walked in we were greeted at the elevator and they asked if we wanted our coats taken. We were taken to our seats and asked if we wanted any champagne before the meal. We were also asked if we were interested in any upgrades/additions to our meal including a wine pairing. Our meal was 11 courses with the option to add an additional course. There were 2 wine pairings to choose from, a regular and premium one. We opted to have one regular pairing and share as we're not much of wine drinkers.During the meal they started off every course with a brief explanation of the dish. If there was a wine pairing for the course the wine would come first with an explanation as well. In between courses our utensils were changed as well. All the courses were really good. We especially loved the lobster and swordfish courses. For dessert we were given an additional small cake as we were celebrating a birthday. After our meal was finished we were given our menu for the night as well as our wine pairings. The service and food was excellent throughout the whole night.

This was my first visit so a michelin restaurant, and it

5/5 by 👻 @Crystal D. on 12/19/2022

This was my first visit so a michelin restaurant, and it definitely didn't disappoint. My boyfriend and I were visiting Toronto and were excited to get a reservation here. We sat at the "kitchen counter", and honestly it was probably the best place to be, as we were able to watch the dishes be prepared throughout the night. I had a cocktail that was fabulous, and then did a wine pairing. All of the wines were great. The service was outstanding, and the food was mostly phenomenal. I will say that I was a bit let down by the dessert course, as none of them stood out, and though they are tiny portions, I didn't even finish any of the selections presented. I tried to take photos throughout, but there were a few course I missed, either because I was overly excited or due to the wine It was, of course, the most expensive meal of my life, but that was expected, and we were glad to have had the experience! Though I'm so sad that I left my menu print out behind. Also, disappointed that we didn't get to go back and try their bar restaurant, Aloette.

Michelin star experience?

4/5 by 👻 @Fern M on 11/29/2022

We hadn't visited Alo since before COVID and were excited to return. We knew we would be seated in the bar area, and the table, though small, was well spaced and the chairs comfortable. The menu, the same as in the main room was 6 courses. The food lived up to the michelin star. It was imaginative, varied and tastefully presented. We enjoyed each course. But the experience wasn't perfect. No one offered to take our coats. One of the forks was bent and we had to ask for another. From being seated to getting the check took exactly 75 minutes, which didn't feel like we were dining. Each course came out too quickly and we felt that the kitchen had rushed us. But the biggest disappointment were the wine pairings. The wine was average at best with nothing new or exciting. The sommelier splashed the wine into the glasses, gave a rote description and didn't wait around until we tasted. The selection was certainly not michelin star quality. All in all, Chef Kriss presented a meal that didn't disappoint but there's still work to be done to live up to the Michelin star experience.

Connect with users posting reservations for Alo Toronto

AppointmentTrader is a community-driven platform where users can exchange their reservations or leverage their personal relationships with Alo Toronto. Buyers can make informed decisions using automated seller ratings, which reflect past transactions and reliability.

Read More on How Seller Track Record and the Bid Process Works Read More Action Icon

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Alo Toronto at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Alo Toronto page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FamousStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FamousStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FamousStation67 for any questions Peter may have as FamousStation67 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* FamousStation67 now uses their connections at Alo Toronto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FamousStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FamousStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FamousStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Alo Toronto!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
