Aaliyah!!! Thank you so much for the magical birthday
Aaliyah!!! Thank you so much for the magical birthday celebration. I'm in my 30s and the moment my kiddo told me she wanted a Baby doll I knew I had to instill AG in my girl ASAP My children are 4 and under and this dining experience was just fabulous. Great value for the price! The finger foods were amazing, goodies for our dolls were unnecessary but so thoughtful!! My son loved the meal and said it was his favorite restaurant ever Aaliyah thank you for your kindness, being attentive to us and making us feel special. This farm family doesn't get to visit the city often and you made it a delight.
Even though my kids have outgrown this place, I still
Even though my kids have outgrown this place, I still absolutely love walking through it. The looks on all the excited little girls faces is reason enough! The way that the store is laid out gives a lot of space for families to take their time to decide on their purchases. They also make it somewhat museum like, because they have their decades for the dolls. There's tons to do inside of this two story store, they also have a restaurant, salon. The dolls are pricey, but I would recommend if you are going to invest in getting one, to make it a full all encompassing experience of going to the store instead of just buying it online.

Stopped by here casually just to look around and explore
Stopped by here casually just to look around and explore the store after loving the dolls as a kid -- the magic is still definitely here! This is a huge location, with multiple floors, distinct sections, doll hospital/salon/cafe, etc. We spent over an hour just looking at everything. Of course, shopping here would be fun but if you ever played with these dolls it's still fun and just insane to see the offerings. The displays, themes, outfits -- all amazing. My ONE complaint would be the lack of historical dolls (which I imagine is a choice by the company). I've always found the historical dolls to be the coolest part, and some of the retired, but still iconic dolls, were not even mentioned (No Felicity, no Kit, none of the friends) like at least a mention!! Although I would prefer a whole set up and their entire offerings because I've always felt they were the most beautiful and exciting dolls. Nevertheless, very fun. And they had a fun New Years display as well!
I always wondered what was the Big Deal about these
I always wondered what was the Big Deal about these American Dolls. Why spend so much money on these ok dolls. Well that was until my nine year old niece got her hands on one of these dolls. As her favorite Auntie, I decide to spend a day downtown and visit the American Girl Place located in the Water Tower, When I walked inside I can see why it's every little girls dream to have one of these dolls. This place is magical and fun to create memories with your little girl. It's exciting to walk around and see the different dolls, cool clothes and accessories. The second floor is where you go and have lunch or weekend brunch. I was amazed watching the dolls get a new hairstyle at the American Girl Salon. It's cool to have the dolls come get pampered. A mini manicure and ear piercing station. I was in shocked to see that there was a American Doll Hospital where you could admit your doll for any injuries etc. I bit expensive but I guess it's all worth it to put a smile on your little love one's face. I like the idea of this place having so many things for you to enjoy around the store. You can spend the day of browsing around the store, dining or just having fun. I picked out so many cute outfits for my niece doll Courtney.
What a joyous place to visit! Just so many things to look
What a joyous place to visit! Just so many things to look at and the two floors with different themes at water tower place is just so cool. The hospital, pastry shop, salon, the restaurant with dinner and tea parties. The booster seats for the dolls the glitter drinks and so much more. We brought our youngest daughter here 10+ years ago for birthday (s) and it's still just as magical if not more. We returned this past Saturday with our granddaughter and loved every minute of our shopping spree, salon for her doll Molly and our tea party. The Sandwiches and sweet treats were delicious. Our waiter at the restaurant was so fun and friendly. Our hair stylist was sweet as can be talking to our girl. Although all of this was pricey it's always more than worth it. Memories that will truly last a lifetime.

My happy place! I have been an American Girl doll fan since I was a child and now consider myself a collector. What a fun place!
This is the largest doll store I have ever seen.
This is a very unique store snd so I can tell that every little would want to go here and get spoiled by their relatives to buy something for their child or grandchildren. The experience of going here is definitely unique. Two floors of fun filled items including a spa and restaurant. Have fun here girls.
Adorable
This was my first visit, and it was very fun! My friends and I brought our dolls, and they sat at the table with us. Our server was super friendly and took pictures of us. The food was average (I got chicken tenders) but itβs the experience that counts! Finally fulfilling my childhood dreams lol
Great atmosphere, disappointing food and service.
Love the atmosphere of the cafe but disappointing food and service. Appitizer meatballs and the fried ravioli were overcooked and dry. I ordered the cobb salad and even the chicken on that was dry. My granddaughter ordered the pasta, which was only pasta and a small amount of plain sauce. All of their meals (Children and adults) are a flat price of $27/pp which includes the appetizer tray, main course, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. Maybe they should consider having a seperate fixed meal cost for children. $27 for a bowl of pasta or pizza without any meat, in my opinion is overpriced. Although the cafe wasn't extremely crowded, our waiter seemed very busy and our service was less than attentive. My granddaugther ordered the special PINK fizzy drink at an additional $5, to which he brought out a glass of sprite with a BLUE packet of the cotton candy fizzy mixture, that didn't really fizz. We had ordered this same drink the last time we celebrated her birthday at American Girl and it came in a fountain glass and was amazing. All and all, not the best expeirence.
Disappointed
The food served for afternoon tea was very disappointing. I would probably not go back for another visit. Everything was very over priced as expected.
Lovely For a Birthday Celebration
We celebrated a four-year old's birthday at the American Girl Chicago Cafe. It was lovely. We had ordered the birthday package that includes special surprises, which I won't divulge. The small all-inclusive menu has several courses including a three-tiered appetizer tray; main courses that children would enjoy -- like macaroni and cheese; and milk, lemonade, coffee or iced tea. Girls bring their American Girl dolls to the lunch and are provided with a special booster for their dolls to join them at the meal. The day we were there, other guests included a group of about eight young women wearing bridesmaid's baseball caps accompanied by their American Girl dolls.
Very kind staff and the most amazing American girl store
Very kind staff and the most amazing American girl store ever! It is massive! They had all the dolls in stock! Totally worth the trip! It's so beautiful!
Bad staff decent food
The restaurant is cute, they thought of every detail down to a cup and plate for the dolls. The food is mediocre. Cinnamon rolls were good, the tiered appetizers were cute but meatballs were dry. My club sandwich was good, sweet potato fries were good but served with ketchup, odd combination. My daughter had a glitter bomb which she thought was awesome, it was so cute. Everyone loved the mouse. Although the gummies were stale. Now, the worst part: the staff. Those checking us in were grumpy. Not at all like the rest of the store staff. Our waiter was so kind but hands down the worst waiter Iβve ever had. He got my daughters order wrong, she is too sweet to say anything. He forgot to bring straws, sweeteners, forgot to come back several times. It was my daughterβs birthday and he also didnβt do anything even though we asked and checked in to when we got there. His kindness saved him because it was truly the worst service.
