Anchor and Brine Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
Great location but lousy service
We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking along the riverwalk. We thought it looked like a perfect location to have a late lunch and watch the world go by. But the bartender was...smug. Not friendly. He was more interested in carrying on a conversation with the other bartender than take care of us. He also was attached to his cell phone to the point where I got off the bar stool and began walking around to him when he quickly put the phone in his pocket. The food was okay, not good enough for $75 for a casual light lunch. I left a note for the manager to contact me--but I never did.
Amazing Crab Soup!
The views of the river and bright sun really make this a perfect spot for a date or friendly dinner with friends, Sad to say the service is slow, we waited about 10 minutes for a hostess to come and seat us and the patio had few diners. Once seated I noticed the water goblets and silverware were full of water spots, and that gave them the appearance of being dirty. The wait staff was very accommodating and brought a fresh set to the table and despite the initial wait, took our order and it arrived quickly. The food was delicious, especially the Crab Bisque, it’s thick and creamy, full of chunky crab and a nice swirl of crème fresh and chopped chives. This bowl is a meal if you are looking for a light one, but if you need something extra then check out these tacos! A perfect sear on the fish, a bit of heat from thinly sliced jalapeños in the slaw, and a generous squeeze of lime, culinary perfection! I really hate the initial opinion based on the slow service and seemingly unclean glasses and silverware, but the food and views definitely made up for that. I would return, and hopefully they have gotten someone to polish and check those place settings! Unnerved Traveler
Perfection
I titled this review perfection because everything was perfect. We were celebrating three birthdays last night - my wife, my mother in-law, and my father in-law and they all were VERY pleased with the service, the food, the drinks, and the ambiance. I highly recommend staying at this Marriott if you’re in the area, attending a conference at the convention center, or anything at the Amalie Area. Not staying, Anchor & Brine any time for any occasion.
EXCELLENT FOOD
Excellent setting (in normally lovely Tampa weather), beautiful scenery, and excellent food. The service is a little sketchy; sometimes someone there to seat you and other times not so much. But the food was worth the sketchy service - OUTSTANDING!!!
Great people! Very good with any drink you want!
Great people! Very good with any drink you want! Incredible Old Fashions!! Great French Fries!
Overpriced drinks and the food is mediocre- 2nd time here.
Nice outdoor ambiance but had the crab soup today and it was blah. The wait staff are all corporate Marriott zombies just pushing the register buttons without thought. Absolutely no personality.
Came for Gasparilla and stopped in for dinner.
Great ambiance and service. Would definitely recommend
Bad experience at Marriott
Last night I had dinner at the bar with my friend. The food was amazing, but after paying in cash, my credit card was charged almost $400.00. After multiple calls and waiting for anyone with authority to call back, I was told they will"work" on getting the charges off my card. It's Christmas eve, and I want to shop but I need that money. Beware here. Someone is a thief. I live locally and we love to visit this hotel for drinks and food. I won't go back. So disappointing.

Everything from the views of the bay to the kindness of the staff and delectable food & beverage offerings, this is hands down great date night or GNO spot. Pro Tip ** ask for a cabana when making your reservation, the best experience with some bottle service - you'll thank me later!
Ate here for lunch and brunch.
Quality food and great ambiance! Love the view from the patio.
By far one of my favorite place we went to in Tampa!
By far one of my favorite place we went to in Tampa! Excellent food, drinks, atmosphere and great service. What more do you need! Perfectly located on the water, with a beautiful view and I loved the seating outside. Located in the waterfront side of the Marriott, it's a casual but nice place, with a great bar, table seating, and these gorgeous waterfront booth type places. Luckily we got one of those booth type places. My friend and I had a glass of Prosecco each, but they had every drink you could imagine, great cocktails, amazing food! We had the mushroom truffle flatbread, omg, yes amazing, crunchy flatbread, great Parmesan, lots of mushrooms and balsamic glaze and yummy truffle flavor. A must get . Then I never see my all time favorite British dessert on many menus but they had it! Sticky toffee pudding, with a different take on it. With walnuts in the toffee sauce, and cinnamon bourbon ice cream instead of just vanilla. It was delicious, definitely prefer the original version, but they tried and the cake was nice and moist and very similar. I love the effort to recreate. The sauce was nice with good sweet toffee ness! I'm not a fan of nuts so could have done without the nuts! But overall definitely worth a try. We went back the next day for a round of espresso martinis. Which were perfectly made. Served in nice iced glasses. These were just what was ordered for a Sunday funday beverage! I absolutely loved this place and the views. Couldn't find a fault. Love when that happens.
I've had brunch here and the service is beyond slow.
So make sure you have nothing planned after or go with at least 3 hours to kill. We sat outside which is beautiful at least. Servers were running around like their heads cut off like they were slammed but they were not. Idk how many serves dropped trays of drinks lol.... Food was decent but took an hour to come out. Don't recommend the avocado toast because it was bland I can make it better at home. Also the salad comes out on a whole chuck of lettuce and you have to try to cut it up yourself with a butter knife lol... overall it's fine, not great.

Stuck in a hotel with no rental car - so naturally we eat at the hotel restraunt... well it was good very extremely expensive but it was on the company, wouldn't have bought it for myself with my own dollar but the company dime it was a nice dish.
Lovely place on the River Walk.
Had the Grouper. It was perfectly blackened and presented beautifully. Staff was pleasant to talk with and checked on us properly. I am sure this won't be our last visit.
Anniversary dinner
Very nice located on the waterfront. My wife had the Seafood asapao and I had the grouper. Both were delicious. Our sever was Christian and even though it was busy he was very attentive. Great atmosphere, food and service. What more could you want?

I stayed at the hotel this restaurant is located in for a week which meant that I had easy access to this place and thank goodness I did because I ate multiple meals here. I can't say enough good things about the food, cocktails and service. If I were to suggest one drink, it would have to be the Plum in the Sun. It is a well-balanced drink that is not overly sweet, with the most delicious cherries. As for food, the ceviche packs a punch in the best way possible! And while you're at it, order bread rolls; trust me, you won't regret it. That whipped honey butter is over-worldly. Did I mention the service is 10/10? Looking for a place to grab lunch, dinner or drinks? Go here!
Good food
The staff was nice and even though it was upper hot, the fans made the outside seating bearable. I had Caesar salad and calamari. Both were good but the Caesar salad was delicious
Good food but slow service
This restaurant is at the Tampa Marriott, and has outdoor tables on the waterfront. For lunch, prices ranged from $18 to about $24 for entrees. The kale salad and cuban sandwiches were good, and portions were generous, but the service was slow. We did not go back due to the slow service.
Poor Lobster Offering
Staying at the Marriott on Water Street in Tampa, FL we decided to have dinner at the Anchor and Brine. My wife decided to order the special, steak and lobster, $60.00. Her filet was done perfect. However, the lobster was a mess. She asked me to try and get the meat out of the shell and I struggled with a fork and only got about a mouthful of lobster out of the shell. I mentioned it to the waiter and he seemed most uninterested. The next day I mentioned it to our friends and they claimed to have a similar experience with the lobster they purchased at the Anchor and Brine. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and an order of calamari. The salad was delicious. However, the shrimp tails were not removed and who ever cut the salad up must have used a tomahawk. While the food was good, they need to work on their lobster and shrimp offering. I probably will not return to this restaurant.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
