Great location but lousy service
We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking along the riverwalk. We thought it looked like a perfect location to have a late lunch and watch the world go by. But the bartender was...smug. Not friendly. He was more interested in carrying on a conversation with the other bartender than take care of us. He also was attached to his cell phone to the point where I got off the bar stool and began walking around to him when he quickly put the phone in his pocket. The food was okay, not good enough for $75 for a casual light lunch. I left a note for the manager to contact me--but I never did.

The views of the river and bright sun really make this a perfect spot for a date or friendly dinner with friends, Sad to say the service is slow, we waited about 10 minutes for a hostess to come and seat us and the patio had few diners. Once seated I noticed the water goblets and silverware were full of water spots, and that gave them the appearance of being dirty. The wait staff was very accommodating and brought a fresh set to the table and despite the initial wait, took our order and it arrived quickly. The food was delicious, especially the Crab Bisque, itโs thick and creamy, full of chunky crab and a nice swirl of crรจme fresh and chopped chives. This bowl is a meal if you are looking for a light one, but if you need something extra then check out these tacos! A perfect sear on the fish, a bit of heat from thinly sliced jalapeรฑos in the slaw, and a generous squeeze of lime, culinary perfection! I really hate the initial opinion based on the slow service and seemingly unclean glasses and silverware, but the food and views definitely made up for that. I would return, and hopefully they have gotten someone to polish and check those place settings! Unnerved Traveler

I titled this review perfection because everything was perfect. We were celebrating three birthdays last night - my wife, my mother in-law, and my father in-law and they all were VERY pleased with the service, the food, the drinks, and the ambiance. I highly recommend staying at this Marriott if youโre in the area, attending a conference at the convention center, or anything at the Amalie Area. Not staying, Anchor & Brine any time for any occasion.

Excellent setting (in normally lovely Tampa weather), beautiful scenery, and excellent food. The service is a little sketchy; sometimes someone there to seat you and other times not so much. But the food was worth the sketchy service - OUTSTANDING!!!
Be the first to ReplyBad experience at Marriott
Last night I had dinner at the bar with my friend. The food was amazing, but after paying in cash, my credit card was charged almost $400.00. After multiple calls and waiting for anyone with authority to call back, I was told they will"work" on getting the charges off my card. It's Christmas eve, and I want to shop but I need that money. Beware here. Someone is a thief. I live locally and we love to visit this hotel for drinks and food. I won't go back. So disappointing.

Very nice located on the waterfront. My wife had the Seafood asapao and I had the grouper. Both were delicious. Our sever was Christian and even though it was busy he was very attentive. Great atmosphere, food and service. What more could you want?

The staff was nice and even though it was upper hot, the fans made the outside seating bearable. I had Caesar salad and calamari. Both were good but the Caesar salad was delicious
Be the first to ReplyGood food but slow service
This restaurant is at the Tampa Marriott, and has outdoor tables on the waterfront. For lunch, prices ranged from $18 to about $24 for entrees. The kale salad and cuban sandwiches were good, and portions were generous, but the service was slow. We did not go back due to the slow service.
Be the first to ReplyPoor Lobster Offering
Staying at the Marriott on Water Street in Tampa, FL we decided to have dinner at the Anchor and Brine. My wife decided to order the special, steak and lobster, $60.00. Her filet was done perfect. However, the lobster was a mess. She asked me to try and get the meat out of the shell and I struggled with a fork and only got about a mouthful of lobster out of the shell. I mentioned it to the waiter and he seemed most uninterested. The next day I mentioned it to our friends and they claimed to have a similar experience with the lobster they purchased at the Anchor and Brine. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and an order of calamari. The salad was delicious. However, the shrimp tails were not removed and who ever cut the salad up must have used a tomahawk. While the food was good, they need to work on their lobster and shrimp offering. I probably will not return to this restaurant.

We went there on a weekend night, so had to wait quite e long time. But really worth it! Mussels and grilled avocado are great!

Conveniently located on the Riverwalk, Anchor and Brine is fine casual dining. The tables are outside but the food is definitely what you would expect from a fine restaurant. One of our party had the grouper and one had the chefs cut steak. Both were cooked just right. We followed with dessert- a key lime type of dessert that was delicious. Mixed drinks were tasty also- try one of the seasonal specialities. Good service
Be the first to ReplyWe Loved it so much we visited twice...
My daughter and I were on a 4-day winter getaway and extended our stay due to the blizzard back home in the midwest. Our first order of business on the second half of our extended vacay was to go back to Anchor and Brine. Cozy, scenic, elegant while casual... the atmosphere can't be beat. And we loved the food. Highly recommend the grilled avocado and parker house rolls to accompany whatever entree you choose.

The view from the patio is very appealing. The cuban sandwich was excellent. Just the right amount of spicy. Service friendly and professional. Can get busy causing long waits.
