Anthony's HomePort Des Moines DesMoines Reviews from The Last Year
We come here whenever we want crab cakes.
They are by far the best crab cakes! If you like crab only and no fillers. Big chunks of crab make up the cakes. There is a little bit of breading on the outside and they're served with beurre blanc and plum sauce. The beurre blanc is fabulous. I don't get the plum sauce because it's sweet. It is served with rice that is different than anywhere else and is very good. Price is a little high but for me, it's definitely worth it. Service has always been good. I prefer the Des Moines location over the Tacoma location as far as the crab cakes go. But maybe the one time I went to the Tacoma one the cook was new or something. The ambiance is great & I love sitting outside in summer months.
Food was decent but over priced.
.service was awful!Waited 30 minutes for a table in an empty dining room only to see like 9 employees and managers ignoring us. The busser/food runner was the best person in the building. Will never waste my money there again!Kudos to the kid that actually paid attention. I honestly don't know how they are still in business!
Awesome food, service and vista!!
Outstanding food, quick and friendly service, great atmosphere and cool energy. Best vista as it is a hidden treasure!
Horrible service.
My water glass was empty before dinner was served, and no one came by to fill it. My salad plate was not removed, which might not have mattered except that there were 4 of us in the booth. No one bothered to ask how the food tasted or if we needed anything. The most helpful person was the lady who brought pepper for soup and salad. The food was dry, and rice was bland. My husband ordered the $44 crab cakes and did not finish them as one was overcooked. We were extremely disappointed with dinner and especially the lack of service.
We have had many great meals here.
We brought my mom her for brunch and was horribly disappointed. I have gotten more food and better food at Dennys. Our brunch came in about 3 minutes. It was at best left over, pre cooked bacon and potatoes. The quality was absolutely lame. 2 pieces of bacon (last year 4) minimal potatoes and eggs were cold and hard. Best thing today, the coffee. We honestly left hungry. Due to the restaurants higher prices I expected (as in the past) you got your monies worth. Get the senior mail for 9.99 at Dennys. You get your monies worth. Will not be giving anthonys any business anymore.
I came here for lunch on a Monday and was able to enjoy
I came here for lunch on a Monday and was able to enjoy lovely views of the marina from our table, and plenty of parking in the lot. I had made reservations, but I don't think they were necessary for a weekday meal. I noticed that they had closed off the downstairs dining room and were only operating on the second floor (accessible by elevator and stairs). We got the halibut fish & chips, pan-fried trout, strawberry rhubarb maitai, and a non-alcoholic pear mojito. The food was delicious, and drinks were alright (a bit sweet), but service was a little inattentive (probably less staff on a weekday), and there was no attention paid to it being a special occasion despite me stating so when making reservations. Certainly no complimentary cake, like at other similar restaurants. It's a nice place to warm up and have lunch after a boating day, or if you want a quiet local seafood meal. They sometimes have specials like their recent $33 prix-fixe Sunset dinners, which last from 3-6pm.
Very good food.
Seafood and Steak . Nice restaurant staff, except for one large male bartender with Tattos. At luncheon on Friday he spi into the Garbage at the upstairs bar. Destroyed the ambiance and probably broke the health code . Everyone else on staff quie nice
The view is amazing here.
The atmosphere is very peaceful. The hostesses and wait staff are always prompt, friendly and accommodating. The steak and crab combo is very delicious. The Caesar salad tastes wonderful. I've also had the Crab fettuccine, which comes with tomatoes, mushrooms and zucchini in a lite sauce. It's very delicious and not too heavy. Count on leftovers. The restaurant and restroom is clean. We love taking a walk along the pier afterwards. Perfect for date night or an evening out with friends.

I had the Anthony's Cobb for lunch and it was really good, unlike a regular Cobb it had mango in it and the dressing was so good . Service was good, view was amazing, space is a little tight and noisy , hard to have a private conversation, but all in all highly recommend.

I recently tried the clam chowder at this restaurant, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich and the clams were perfectly cooked. I also enjoyed their happy hour drinks, they were so refreshing and tasty. Overall, a great place for both food and drinks!
Anthony's offers a dining experience that goes beyond
Anthony's offers a dining experience that goes beyond expectations. From the moment you step in, the service sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The staff at Anthony's in Des Moines are not just attentive, they're genuinely invested in ensuring your satisfaction. From recommending dishes to promptly refilling drinks, every aspect of the service is executed with precision and warmth. The staff at Anthony's makes you feel like a valued guest. Their attention to detail and commitment to hospitality truly elevate the dining experience, making my visit memorable. The ambiance was simply breathtaking. I dined here with my family and we watched the sun set along the marina waterfront. As we enjoyed our meal we couldn't help but to acknowledge the incredible service and the fantastic view from our seats. From the warm bread to the fresh oysters, the appetizers were definitely a hit. I had a delectable blue cheese salad with my yellowfin ahi which was apart of the fresh sheet (see images) and a flavorful red wine recommended by our amazing server. Simply put: Exquisite. Ending the meal we had the Homemade Cherry Buckle which was a part of the Winter Desserts menu. Although it probably was meant to be shared, it was so good that I ate the whole thing to myself. The great food, views and hospitality was worth every penny. Highly recommended for date night. Be sure to book in advance as it may get busy. It's a 5 star from me!
I used to love this place; good food, good drinks, good
I used to love this place; good food, good drinks, good service - but my last few visits have been disappointing. We had to patiently wait for a LONG TIME for the bartender to finish his conversation with the other bartender upstairs, just to request silverware (since when doesn't that come standard?) and he didn't come back when our drinks were empty. I'll give him, it was early, (3:00 on a Wednesday) but hey, we are here to eat and drink, K? If that's a problem, why be open? My husband had the afternoon off, so we thought it would be fun to have some apps and drinks. It wasn't just the last time... the food and service have been lacking for a while. There are a lot of places with oysters and martinis around, so I guess we will have spread out our business. That makes me sad, I've been coming here since the '80s...
We didn't realize Anthony's had brunch.
The meal was delightful . I had eggs Benedict and my husband had the French toast.
A good brunch
We had Sunday brunch yesterday. Service was efficient and we were seated right away. We ordered the crepes, scrambled eggs with a side of toast, and the egg, sausage and potato bowl. All was delicious. I love sourdough bread but like jam on my toast. Alas, Anthony's doesn't have jam. Good to know for those jam/jellylovers.
I called restaurant around 1:14 pm today Feb.
12 Monday, asked them has any special ? And parking! He said we validate your ticket, I asked where? and how, he start so impatient, I said if u don't have time , can I talk to ur manager, he said he is the manager, then I said why u are so rush to customer, then another employee answers all my questions, but I decided not to eat dinner there anymore! I am assuming the manager don't think any extra customers are important for their business!

The location & parking was great, by the water next to the yatch club. Inside the ambiance was lovely. I ordered the 6 Anthony's choice oysters, followed by crab dip. My husband ordered the steak & crab combo. We were pleased with the food and the service. We recommend it highly.
Great view and attentive service.
Our brunch selections were delicious and large portions. The menu seemed smaller than the other Anthony's we've been to, but maybe it was because we came earlier in the day. We will definitely come back when in the area.
NO LONGER GOOD!
I have loved this place for years. I have always directed people to go here for fish because they know how to cook it right. Well things have changed here. My daughter used to work here. So my sister took me out for my 69th birthday. SO DISSAPOINTING! I like my salmon medium rare which they have always done in the past. What I got was an overcooked piece of salmon equal to a dry piece of smoked salmon in texture and hardly any sauce to help it out. I am done with Anthony’s after many many years. Too much money to have to choke down something I don’t even like and on my special day, too I would have complained but my sister was paying for me as a special birthday treat and I didn’t want to make her feel bad. Probably could have done better at some fast food joint. SIGH!
Sunset Dinner
My husband and i just enjoyed a Sunset Dinner at Anthonys in Des Moines Our server was Chenoah and she was amazing! She was quick to clear plates and checked on us several times. They also had a young man filling water glasses. A+ on service! We started with a warm basket of bread and butter. It was very good. A+ For our appetizer we each had a Caesar Salad. The dressing was good and the had just the right amount on the salad. A+ For $5 more you could choose a second appetizer. My husband chose Clam Chowder and he said it was very good. I chose a crab and corn soufflé. It wasn’t really a soufflé. It was a small corn muffin with an avocado cream sauce, peppers and topped with a small amount of crab. It was very good but beware it did pack a punch! Its also small but i found it just right for me. A+ For our entrees i chose the salmon duet and my husband chose the garlic prawns. They both came with green beans and almond basmati rice. Mine was a piece of salmon topped with bay shrimp and it was very good. My husband got six prawns served in drawn butter. and he loved them. A+ Our final our course was Baileys Irish Creme mousse. It was also small but just the right amount. A+++++ Their feature this month was Huckleberries. We tried a huckleberry Daiquiri and a huckleberry martini? I hope we can get those year round. Those weren’t included with the dinner but very good. A+ So for $30 (plus $5 each for the extra appetizer) this dinner was well worth the price The portions seemed on the small side but we felt the whole dinner was a filling amount We had a beautiful water view, excellent service and well prepared food. I will keep my eye out for these specials. Good job Anthony’s!!
Seattle visit.
One of our go to spots in the Seattle area. Great location, with a great water and marina view. Had the Blue Cheese salad with a piece of blackened Silver Salmon. Fish was cooked to the point it melted in your mouth. Also had the chowder which was tasty. A return trip is always a must for us when in the area.
Excellent fresh seafood and view of the marina
Great restaurant with fresh seafood and beautiful views of the marina. The sourdough bread was a treat. I got the Budd's Ahi Stack - nice, fresh, ahi tuna! Anthony's Clam chowder had lots of clams and potatoes - very good. My husband got the Halibut which he enjoyed. There were only late reservations on Open Table, but we were able to walk in for a party of two and get a table which we appreciated.
We enjoyed it
The views from the restaurant are amazing and the service was very good! Between the three of us we had clam chowder, the special Halibut and French fries with Ginger slaw and the Oregon Bay shrimp fettuccini. Everything was very good, except the fish was a bit dry. The crusty bread was great! The food was served hot and though everything came out fairly fast, we didn't feel rushed at all. Yes, we would come back.
Just ok
This is usually our favorite place when we travel to Washington. Grilled halibut was smothered in tasteless white sauce. Salmon was nothing special. Mashed potatoes and bread were yummy.
Great Summer Dinner - Sockeye with a view
Great Sockeye special and a great view. We enjoyed dining here and I was so excited to have the Sockeye special. The waiter was excellent, the food was great, and the summer sunset was amazing.
We LOVE Anthony's!
We LOVE Anthony's! The appetizers are really good, especially the dip! We love all the food... from the fish & chips to the amazing burger! The wait staff has always been good, tho some are better (faster, more efficient) than others. To top it off, the view is great! We always come to Anthony's for our celebration dinners. It never disappoints :-)
Anthony's is consistently great.
We had another FABULOUS waiter. Younger man who also bar tends. Super knowledgeable, funny, but not invasive. His demeanor, the delicious food, + the view from the windows on the south end made for a wonderful dinner for 6. And yes, some of us took advantage of the Sunset Meals. Anthony's never fails us.
