Old School Excellence
Nice feeling to the place and the service was efficient, friendly and unobtrusive. The turtle soup was excellent as was the duck. Also enjoyed the oysters arnaud and their kind of jazzed up house old fashion. All the food was very enjoyable and well plated. The al-ecarte menu was not overly extensive and every dish seemed well established. If you're looking for a white table cloth experience without the pretense this is an excellent option. If you're looking for the latest fusion creations in town, wrong place.
Be the first to ReplyFun but seen better days
An old school formal restaurant that has seen its best days. Arnaudās is a New Orleans institution Iāve been wanting to try for a long time. It is a white table cloth French restaurant (obviously with creole influences) that feels right out of the 1950ās. Classic French/creole sauces and dishes, waiters in tuxedos, staff everywhere smiling, live jazz trio. Go here for a fun harkening back to early days of wealthy New Orleans privilege if you are in the mood but know itās a past with flaws. But itās also tired and doesnāt shine compared to the cutting edge cuisine all around the city. The seafood gumbo is fine but pales in comparison to the depth and richness that can be found elsewhere. The broiled oysters also feel second class. Their famed veal tourenadoes are good but the sauce is one note and feels classy but no frills. The fish meuniĆØre is good too, but one note, and not to write home about. The wine I had was not good. Service was friendly and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful restaurant!
Everything from service to cocktails to food was perfect for a family birthday meal. Definitely get one of the flaming tableside desserts or drinks. Really fun and wonderful restaurant. The whole group absolutely loved it!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Dinner
We had an absolutely amazing time dining here at Arnaud's. The food was unreal, and the service was phenomenal. Our server Travis was so friendly and our entire family had such an amazing time. I highly recommend checking out Arnaud's when visiting New Orleans. If we ever make it back to this city we will be sure to return to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic jazz brunch at this restaurant
Fantastic Sunday jazz brunch at this restaurant. The waitstaff was attentive and informative. The Belgium waffle was good. The crab cakes were good too. The banana fosters was amazing. The Gumbo trio was fabulous. The soprano sax, string bass and guitar players were great!
Be the first to ReplyMost Disappointing Meal on our New Orleans Trip
We had a wonderful time in New Orleans, but this was unfortunately probably the worst part. We were very excited for the jazz brunch and were celebrating a special occasion. The service was incredibly slow, they stuck us in a corner where we couldnāt even see the musicians even though it was really empty when we arrived for our reservation, the music was about 45 minutes late in starting and the food was mediocre at best. Even the presentation of an eggs Benedict was disappointing as they just threw some reheated potatoes on it and called it good. It seems like theyāre coasting off of their history instead of focusing on quality. Iād go somewhere else. Itās not worth the time or money.
Be the first to ReplyA very special meal
Such a special elegant formal dinner. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. Upstairs is a small museum showcasing Mardi Gras gowns and photographs.
Be the first to ReplySimply superb
Every year we travel to New Orleans to dine at their restaurants. We have 3 favorites but our #1 is Arnaudās. We have had the privilege of dining there at least 6 times and every time we are so impressed with their food. I ordered the gulf fish almandine with the subtle delicious sauce and it was fabulous. My husband thought the seafood gumbo was the best that he had tried in New Orleans. His fish entree was just as delicious. We always order the strawberry Arnaud dessert and itās the perfect ending to a perfect meal. We are always in awe of their impeccable service. There is a team of 3-4 servers per table plus the manager stopping by to see if everything is satisfactory. Our water glasses were constantly being refilled and our appetizers and entrees were brought to our table in a timely manner. It always is a special experience dining at Arnaudās. Highly recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat drinks on a rainy night
We stopped in on a rainy night somewhat just trying to hide from the rain, but also wanting to sit down at an old school French Quarter place. We certainly got that. We sat at the bar and had a French 75 at its birthplace. Bartenders were friendly and helpful even while dressed up formally. They gave us the low down on why I liked the original French 75 so much since it is cognac based instead of gin based (the British version). They then recommended the duck fat finished, which was amazing as well. Definitely coming back when I get back to NOLA.
Be the first to ReplyThe perfect place for my father's birthday dinner
We reserved a small private room (the Sins room) for my father's 80th birthday. We had an absolutely wonderful dinner and evening. Our dedicated server, Reggie, was fantastic in every way, from the nuts and bolts of timing the courses to knowing just when to give more information on the menu or tell a little story and when to give us some privacy. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere of the room, every interaction with every member of the staff, every element was perfect. If you're coming for a special event, look into getting a private room. There's no extra fee, per se. Instead the gratuity is adjusted to be 22% or $200, whichever is more. It was exactly the right degree of fancy and friendly for our family celebration.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Lovely Evening
Everything was perfect: service, environment, music AND food. Totally romantic and one of the best dining experiences of my life. And thatās pretty good.
Be the first to ReplyNot a good experience
From the moment we arrived, I knew it was not going to be a good experience. The hostess was on her phone. We were celebrating our anniversary and after I booked this restaurant with specific notes about our anniversary, nobody mentioned our anniversary (not at arrival, not during dinner, neither at the end). I am comparing this restaurant to 3 other fine dining restaurants that we visited that week (including the one across the street, which by the way was extraordinary!). I thought leaving Arnaud for last was going to be the perfect experience. I was wrong. Service was disorganized and rushed. The food was cold and tasteless. We will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent birthday dinner
We were in town to celebrate my husbandās birthday and we were lucky enough to get a reservation for Friday evening. The food and service were impeccable! The atmosphere of the actual room was very loud, but there was a very large party in the room so I am hoping it was just that. The filet charlemond was amazing and my husband was raving about the shrimp bisque and the pompano duarte. Definitely would come back if we are in town again!
Be the first to ReplyService, Sumptuous food, Surrounded with Style
We have previously dined at the NOLA āfamousā restaurants and Arnaudās is our favorite. The service is impeccable and the food divine dining. We were there for dinner during the week but have also been there for brunch. Our beverage server was very friendly, had wine selection suggestions and endless energy. The maitre d checked on us several times as he did other tables as well, demonstrating subtle oversight. The atmosphere and decor is representative of its long history in NOLA - be sure to see the museum upstairs. And,save room for dessert and get one of the classics prepared table side - a lovely ending to the meal.
Be the first to ReplyBusiness Dinner
Ate at Arnauds on a business trip and it was fantastic! One thing to note is they require collared shirts, and if you donāt have one they will give you a loaner jacket. Maggie greeted us with a great smile and was our beverage server for the night. She had great recommendations! The French 75 tasted wonderful. Our appetizers and entrees were all great. The veal was very tasty in the mushroom sauce and the fried frog legs were great! I would recommend this place for a special occasion or business meeting.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disapointed
I love NOLA. I grew up here and miss the food especially. I have always wanted to eat at Arnaud's. Our experience last evening was nowhere close to my expectations. The service was very slow - I feel sure they were understaffed. The atmosphere is great but be aware that it is quite loud. Sadly, the food was not memorable at all. My wife and I had Shrimp Arnaud, Seafood Gumbo, Ponchtrain, and Pompano Duarte, with Brabant Potatoes and Creamed Spinach. The potatoes were room temperature and not crispy at all. The spinach was also room temperature. The appetizers were fine but not outstanding, especially the gumbo. It's real hard to mess up fresh fish. The dishes were tasty but again not nearly what I had hoped for. At this level I expected much more. I hope my experience was just an off night, which happens. But for my money I will head back to Commander's Palace. I have never been disappointed there.
Be the first to ReplyOverall great experience
We were in the area and went on a recommendation. The service and staff make the difference . They were great and food was just as good.
Be the first to ReplyPerfection
Arnaudās did the rehearsal dinner for our sonās wedding and it was perfect! The food and service were fantastic and the venue was beautiful. Caroline was a delight to work with and made sure everything was done correctly. The turtle soup and bananas foster were a huge hit!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Sunday Brunch!
Sunday brunch was an elegant experience at Arnaud's. We loved the jazz quartet - they were excellent musicians! Service was impeccable and the food was superb! Would highly recommend this for a bucket list experience!
Be the first to ReplyOnly the Bar
This review is ONLY for the bar. We go there early, so they let us visit their very small Mardi Gras museum upstairs. It consists of some costumes worn by Germaine Cazenave Wells, a queen of 22 carnival balls - that is it. We got excellent service at the very comfortable chairs in the bar area & enjoyed the escargot appetizer. Although the escargots were on the small size, they were very tasty.
Be the first to ReplyGreat decor, history and atmosphere. Lacking on food quality and one server.
I really wanted to love Arnaudās. Itās one of the oldest, finest, and most upscale of New Orleans restaurants. It drips with history, along with Antoineās, Gallatoireās, and a few others. All the waiters wear tuxes, and the runners and other servers wear tasteful black attire. The menu contains many choices, which makes it tough to decide on an entrĆ©e. After being seated, we were promptly brought water and bread, but waited quite a while for the waiter, Kyle. Kyle didnāt hang around to explain anything, just took our drink orders and left. The runners brought our drinks, and they were very cordial and friendly. The next time we saw Kyle was a long while later when he came to take our food orders. We had the chicken and andouille gumbo, turtle soup, shrimp Arnaud, gulf fish amandine, gulf fish meuniere, and Brabant potatoes. I ordered Brabant potatoes because I had seen Emeril make them on TV years ago and have wanted to try them ever since. The food was OK, but nothing more. The exception was the Shrimp Arnaud, which was very good ā cold shrimp in a tasty remoulade sauce. Both the turtle soup and the gumbo were watery. We had had great gumbo and turtle soup the evening before at another restaurant, and Arnaudās versions didnāt compare. Both our fish dishes were nicely fried, but the creole meuniere sauce on mine actually tasted a bit like canned brown gravy. The Brabant potatoes had no noticeable seasoning on them, making them taste like cubed French fries, which isnāt bad ā just not what I had expected. We saw Kyle one more time, a long time after we finished our entrees. He basically dropped the check on the table and walked away. Needless to say, we didnāt opt for dessert. The bottom line for Arnaudās is, the atmosphere, dĆ©cor, and most employees are pluses. Kyle and the food were minuses, so I am giving it 3 stars.
Be the first to ReplyThe French 75 Bar is great ā trying the French 75 is a must
Arnaudās French 75 Bar is definitely one of my favorite places to get drinks in New Orleans. Itās located adjacent to Arnaudās Restaurant just off of Bourbon Street, and it has a classic, cozy vibe that is a perfect to get an elevated cocktail in the city. My wife and I have been here several times now, and itās always been great.
On a recent trip, we had limited time to stop by and get their great French 75s, especially since we found out that they were going to be closed that entire Saturday for a private event. Our only chance to visit was on a Sunday morning before going to a brunch, and luckily, they open early on Sundays at 10:00 am. We got there around 11:00, and there were a few people in the bar at the time, but it was not crowded at all, so we had our pick of where we wanted to sit between the various lounge seating areas or the bar. By Noon, it was starting to fill up. Itās a very small place, and our experience in the past has been that it gets quite crowded at prime times, so just be aware of that. Their hours are also not that extensive, with the bar opening from 5:30-10:30 pm most nights, and having limited hours from 10:00 am-2:00 pm on Sundays. Itās not like your average New Orleans bar that is open for much more extended periods of time.
The staff at the French 75 Bar is very professional and has always been very attentive and present when you need them, and that was the case again this time. We absolutely love the barās namesake French 75s, so thatās what we come for in particular. Cognac with Moet champagne, lemon, and sugar just makes for such a good cocktail. Our first round of French 75s on this visit was actually not quite as great as we had remembered, although they were still good. I think it was because the champagne was a little flat. Iām not sure if they were using an old bottle, but the second round was absolutely perfect with more fizz, exactly as expected. The other cocktail options on the menu also include a lot of classics, so I hope to venture away from the French 75 in the future to try other things.
I absolutely recommend adding a stop at Arnaudās French 75 Bar to any New Orleans itinerary. Iāve tried a lot of French 75s and just never found one that is made as well as the ones at Arnaudās.
Excellent Food and Service
Excellent food and service at Arnaud's. Famous restaurants sometimes lose their luster. Not so at Arnaud's. This place was simply terrific. We enjoyed the bustle of the dining room and constant supervision by headwaiters. Excellent service. Food was great and cocktails perfectly done. Great wine list with reasonable pricing.
I highly recommend Arnaud's.
Don't miss the Jazz Brunch at Arnaud's!
We can't say enough about how much we loved the jazz brunch at Arnaud's. The dining room is very open and elegant, and we received stellar service from Jasper. Our delicious brunch cocktails included a Peach Bellini and French 75 for me and Creole Bloody Maryās for my husband. A jazz trio played to tables around the room āthey were absolutely delightful. My three course brunch included: Shrimp Arnaud; Savory Crabmeat Cheesecake; & Bread Pudding (best thing ever!) My husband chose Shrimp Gumbo; Eggs Piperade, & Strawberries Arnaud (wow!). Our experience was wonderful in every way!

Great food and joyful atmosphere. Plenty of interesting selections. Quality fare and presentation. Interesting cocktail selection. Pricey but you already knew that going in.
