Our New Go-To for Special Occasions
Celebrated our twin daughters' birthday, and Ascend was wonderful: excellent food, cocktails, wine, atmosphere, and service. Fabulous appetizers that we tried were the jackfruit "Krab" cakes, foie gras, tuna tartar. The five of us each loved our scrumptious entrees dishes: especially the king salmon, sea scallops, black cod, & short ribs. The sides were amazing: grilled vegetables, mushroom foraged tempura, and Dungeness crab Mac & cheese. Desserts were incredible. As stated before, the service was excellent: thank you, Kirsten! Parking is easy at the Lincoln Square South lot.
Be the first to ReplyHappy hour with drinks and birthday desserts.
We can for Happy hour, a couple of drinks and birthday drinks. Our experience was spectacular. Everything was amazing and my friend was wowed. Sheโs from Atlanta and it was an unforgettable experience for her.
Be the first to ReplyGreat view, service was lacking
View was phenomenal!! Service at the bar was great but at the table was limited at best. The servers were kind, just not available. The sides were very small portions. Steak was undercooked & servers didnโt check back until it was too late in the meal to correct.
Be the first to ReplyCelebrating two BIRTHDAYS1!
I went to this Restaurant to celebrated my friends birthdays! We all had an awesome time thank you to our server Minh and his assistant Charles. They both made our night an wonderful memories. They knowledge about the menu was great. The food was awesome, we order stake and everything was very good. The restaurant itself is wonderful and the view just wow! Thank you Minh and Charles for an such wonderful time.
Be the first to ReplyService was the best
We come here a lot for date nights. Last night was one of the best. Sunset views are incredible. Food is over the top tasty especially when paired with a killer wine. But what made the night even more special was the care and service from the team led by Shelby in the bar/lounge side. They rock and understand what quality service is all about. Thank you Shelby and congrats with your promotion! You deserve it
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience
Went for cocktails and appetizers. Great views of the city, bartenders were very knowledgeable and appetizers they suggested were great.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Service ever
The location is excellent with great views of area. Food is average. The service is the worst. This is the second time in 3 years that i have had bad experience. And probably the last time. I will not ever go back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent from start to finish
Five star for setting, service, and food. Not stuffy, just a great dining experience. Every bite consistently good. We will be back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing inspired brunch!
Can't miss on this inspired brunch experience. Nothing in the PNW can compare. The Steak & Eggs was my favorite, a playful take on Steak & Eggs meets fried rice with a rich flavorful Wagyu Steak. Not photographed is the Chicharrรณn Chicken & Waffles.
Be the first to ReplyFIVE STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH!
I donโt even know where to begin. Ascend is an amazing, comfortable, classy venue with incredible views and compelling culinary surprises. The citrus mango roll is amazingly fresh and vibrant. The Washingtonian is a spectacular beverage with magnificent presentation. The Suburban, likewise. The Magic Mushroom is legal but probably shouldnโt be; a rich chocolate concoction with a variety of flavors to surprise. Did I mention the views? 31st floor? A Lake Washington sunset. Again, spectacular. Aaron, the restaurant manager, ensured we had a fantastic experience. He spent much of his valuable time describing the history of the restaurant along with the numerous amenities. He could not have been a more gracious host! Lovely venue, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff. The perfect spot for a drink, appetizers, Happy Hour, or dinner.
Be the first to ReplyStick to the bar for the view and food.
View is fabulous, staff was adequate and food was lacking. The menu is quite limited. If you are okay paying way too much for a mediocre steak, then this is the place for you. Only other entree options are 4 types of fish, my husband had the salmon which was so disappointing. It was nothing special, and for $58 I would think it would be pretty good, they also had a chicken dish and a lamb which they were out of for the night. We were really excited to try the main dining room as we have been in the bar prior, and loved the appetizers. Next time, we will stick to the bar. Too many restaurants in Bellevue with better food to chose from.
Be the first to ReplyNot the place it used to be
We've visited Ascend several times. It was always the go-to place for special occasions. We recently went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. The trouble began almost immediately. First, the sat us at a table where the sun was shining directly into my eyes. At first, I let it slide because it was a window table and I had sunglasses and I knew the sun would move. But when they lifted the blinds, the sun was directly in my eyes and I asked three people for the blinds to be closed. All said they would; none of them did. One of the people we asked was the person responsible for raising the blinds in the first place. Second, when the server came by, she seemed disinterested and spoke so quietly, we couldn't hear anything she was saying. One thing you have to know about Ascend, is that in plays music quite loudly. And it's not soothing music, it's quite jarring. One of the problems with Ascend is that they are really two different places: a fine dining establishment and a meet market for millennials. The music is designed to attract the latter. Anyway, on this particular night, the music was loud and the patrons were rather raucous, making it VERY LOUD. My husband and I had to yell just to have a conversation. We noticed our server at other tables and she would bend down to talk to her guests. She didn't do that for us. So, we ordered oysters, an oyster shooter, and two appetizers as well as two entrees (of the most expensive wagyu). Our server said the oysters would come out first, followed by appetizers, and then, of course, the entrees. Within five minutes one of the appetizers came out, following almost immediately by the oysters and our second appetizer. Our server knew we were sharing all of these things and yet everything came out basically at once. We felt like we were being rushed and that there were looking to turn the table as quickly as possible. After the appetizers and oysters were cleared, we ordered wine to go with our dinner. My husband was served his wine; I was not. In the meantime, our entrees were served. Although we ordered the steaks medium rare, the came medium (our steaks were $151 and $204). The presentation was awful. Both steaks looked like a chunk of coal on a plate. Although the steaks were not what we ordered, we didn't send them back because they were moist and tasty, although not as good as we had had in the past. I was halfway through my entree when my wine finally arrived. After our plates were cleared, we expressed an interested in dessert. Fifteen minutes passed before we got a dessert menu. We place our order. And waited. And waited. We called over a busboy and said we'd been waiting 25 minutes for dessert and wished to cancel our order. Finally a busboy comes by with a dessert and gets ready to place in on our table, but as it wasn't something we ordered, we said "We didn't order that." He takes it to our server and she sheepishly comes to our table and says "This is a special dessert for your birthday." About five minutes later, the desserts we ordered came, although we no longer had any interest in them whatsoever. The restaurant did comp the desserts, but the bill came to $555 for what was a frustrating experience. We won't be returning.
Be the first to ReplyGrossly overpriced
Ya... the views (if you get seated at the right place) are still nice. However, I feel that the food is pretty average for the prices paid. We did not order any steaks and focused on salads and seafood, plus a couple beers and cocktails. $180 per person... There are so many better places, such as Charlotte in DT Seattle that have excellent food at a decent price and some good views.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive for the sake of being expensive
You pay for the view at Ascend, not the food or service. I've been a few times, luckily not paying my own way and every time it feels like the place wants you to be appreciative you were allowed in. Being overpriced for the sake of being overpriced seems to be a thing these days but I just can't get into it. The food is good don't get me wrong but it's so overpriced for what you get it's not funny. The service is decent but not great. The restaurant itself is very nice, decorated very well. If you are on an expense account or made tons of money selling your crypto, you should go. For most mortals it's not worth it unless you just like saying you went to the most expensive place in Bellevue.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful, but not worth the price
We went to ascend on the recommendation of a list of good newer restaurants from the local newspaper, and we were absolutely overwhelmed by the beauty of the facility. The service was great, but overall the food was not worth nearly what was charged for it arched for it. I had the New York and my wife had the Cod, the Cod was well prepared but the New York was medium well and very tough, despite my having asked for it asked for it rare. All side orders are a la cart - the French fries I ordered cost $7 but were about the size of a small order of fries at McDonald's. The creamy mashed potatoes were similarly priced but a better value for the money. They were also quite good. This restaurant is obviously quite trendy and as I said the view is spectacular, but it was not worth the $140 a head for a main course and a single glass of wine plus a couple of sides.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service
Friends took me here to celebrate my birthday. Everything was top; from top floor to service and food. Staff were really awake without being disturbing. Food was excellent. Best piece of meat Iโve had in a long while. And of course the view was the extra cream on top.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dining experience.
I enjoyed a phenomenal birthday dinner yesterday evening with my partner. We were served with a level of professionalism that I had never experienced from Tyler and Katie. The cocktails, sushi, and steak were absolutely phenomenal, not to mention the views were even better in person. Many restaurants do steak and seafood well, but few serve top line sushi alongside A5 Wagyus and 45 day plus dry aged classics. When you go, be conscious that every seat is not directly on a window. Youโll have a great experience regardless, but if a window is your top priority be sure to book a reservation with that confirmed.
Be the first to ReplySunset, steak & salmon
Last minute decision to head out for dinner & drinks, just the wife and I. Reservation were unavailable but chanced it that we could get a seat in the bar at 5:15 (Saturday night).....I was told on the phone that the seats in the bar are first come first serve...well, what they should have told us was that it's open seating at the bar but the tables in the bar are controlled by the hostess. We were able to grab 1 seat at the bar and waited about 15 minutes til our neighbors departed. Drinks were good. Steak (small filet) was outstanding. Salmon was perfectly cooked. However we were very disappointed in the side of brussel sprouts....we missed the fact on the menu description it contained bonito (tuna). Why mix dried tuna with brusel sprouts, very awkward aroma and pungent taste. You know bacon works well with sprout, right?
Be the first to ReplyAwesome, best eating experience of 2021!!
Great ambiance, awesome food plus presentation and customer service is beyond great! Thoroughly enjoyed this experience and if the NW had Michelin star rating system this would be on it.
