Excellent but not perfect
Our family in Toronto brought us here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I believe that our server's name was Andrew (I hope that I got that correct). My first note is that the surface parking is not made for vehicles larger than a Prius or a Volt. A full size SUV is very cramped in those spaces. The second note is that the restaurant is not handicapped friendly. The staff was gracious enough to bring us in through the kitchen where there would not be any stairs. We had a table of seven. All of us chose the Degustation menu and three of us added the wine pairing. The service that evening was as close to perfect as possible. Food delivery and explanation of each course was handled with excellence and the attention to detail was obvious with our server. We all enjoyed all five courses; however, some of our group were getting full by the last course. Personally I was not impressed with the foie gras addition to the duck course. it was a very small portion and was under cooked. I will say that I agree with comments from other guests who noticed a little too much salt. There were one or two courses where salt was too noticeable but I would not say do not go because of this. All of the wines paired with the courses were very young with one exception; a 2012 Bordeaux was served with the duck. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff are very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant but not on a regular schedule. This should be a place for special occasions. This way the uniqueness will not wear off.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was a bit disappointing
We have been dining at the Auberge for many, many years. The food and experience has been outstanding each time and has even improved over time. With this background, we were a bit disappointed regarding our last dinner. Appetizers were risotto au Crabe des Neiges. Very rich and excellent taste profile. One person found it salty. The mains were roasted Dover sole. This dish was quite disappointing. The sole was a bit dry. I am not sure if they overcooked all the portions or if it is the cooking method that leaves the fish dry. It is definitely the worst sole dish we have had. You should avoid ordering the sole dish. The sauce and vegetable side were very tasty. The service levels were outstanding from every staff member from start to finish. The service somewhat compensated for the poor main dish. The other thing that surprised me was the big price jump in the price of wines on their list. The same class of wine seems to be about 30+% higher. We never questioned the food and wine pricing in the past because the meals were so outstanding. Now, it gives us pause.

we have dinner there yesterday. It's a Great restaurant. Delicious food and excellent service. Will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyLove the ambiance, great service and delicious food
Fantastic as usual! Just got home from Paris and Auberge rivals the best restaurants we visited there. Can’t wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyUnexpected plebean/poor quality food
The atmosphere: we had lunch on the beautiful patio. Very good service, including refilling our glasses with water, without any problem. The food: we ordered the Summerlicious menu. The soup was declared bland/overly sweet. The jambon was 2 transparent slices of what appeared as commercial, square ham with shredded celeriac on top that was so salty that a friend insisted it was shredded cheese. My pork was dry to the point of being not fit for human consumption. I was offered another dish by the waiter. The orzo was so, so according to a friend. The desserts were OK & consisted of large portion.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the finest French restaurant experiences we have ever had
I was looking for a great lunch spot for my wife and I and this restaurant was mentioned on several lists. French is something I have not done in awhile and we embarked to enjoy this restaurant. We were greeted warmly and the place is gorgeous. Furnishings, art, lighting ambience, this restaurant exudes charm, warmth and sophistication. it was a beautiful day and we were seated in the outdoors patio. It is one of the most beautiful patios we have ever enjoyed (anywhere in the world, and we have travelled a lot). The team of servers were all delightful, especially our primary server Michael G. We enjoyed quiche, a crepe, a lovely rose wine, and finished off with chocolat, the best sorbet I have ever tasted and French coffee which was perfect. I loved our time at this place and is in the top of my list of best restaurant experiences. I look forward to a return visit here again, and again.
Be the first to ReplyThe Perfect Place for a Celebration
We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary with lunch for 6, arranged by our bridesmaids. We could not have asked for a better celebration of this special occasion. The food was marvellous and the service by the amazing Michael G was impeccable. Michael just made our day. He was respectful, humorous, efficient and made such a lovely fuss of us. His timing was perfect and we never felt rushed. We just felt so special. Michael was also very considerate, patient and creative with taking photos of our group, both at the table and in the courtyard, once other guests had left. Thoughtful touches acknowledging our Golden Anniversary were also greatly appreciated. Most of us tried the delicious, chilled green pea soup, several had the steak frites, I had the quiche and we were all very pleased with our choices. I had not been to Auberge du Pommier for more than a decade when I used to come for business lunches. I loved the restaurant then and I love them now. They did not disappoint. A perfect venue for a celebration with its wonderful, welcoming ambience. Parking was a slight challenge as my husband uses a walker. We parked underground then realized there was no elevator so he had to climb the stairs and leave the walker in the car. We should have checked this out beforehand. When we left, I picked him up outside the restaurant. There is no parking validation for lunch so it cost $18. There is a main floor washroom but there are a couple of steps which we'd been warned of beforehand. I don't believe there was a ramp but could be wrong. This might be an issue for wheelchair users.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding French haute cuisine
Every facet of our visit to Auberge du Pommier was outstanding. The very warm welcome and the excellent and knowledgeable service were well matched by the absolutely delicious food. The modern interpretation of classic French dishes were excellent, while not losing the honesty of the original dishes. Sadly, as we don’t live in Canada, we will not be able to revisit this wonderful restaurant for a while.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous as always
Valentine's Day lunch at my favorite restaurant in Toronto. Gorgeous setting, as always, and perfect food! Had tartare for appetizer (amazingly tasty) and steak frites for main - delicious and perfectly cooked medium rare! Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyAn elegant and taste worthy experience!
Service was over and above spectacular! Jeff, our headwaiter, was attentive and Extremely knowledgeable, providing his own personal brand of excellent customer service geared to making the event memorable. We were seated in the garden room which nurtured a blazing fire on one of the coldest days of winter so far. A tad warm but our 3 course Winterlicious dinner was highly appreciated tucked in this elegant ambience. The three courses were served with military precision by waitstaff simultaneously placing plates for 9 people. We felt like royalty. Each course was better than the last. The accompany bread at the beginning and decadent chocolate plates with tea and coffee were divine. We all rated our experience a 10 out of 10. Thank you to all the service and staff that work seem this together to enhance the dining experience at Auberge du Pommier.

Highly recommended place and we were overly excited. Martinis were xcellente and came out fast. I didnt like my tuna nor my Sable. Overcooked and dry. The rice was hard too. Was it too long under the heat. Lackluster service.
Be the first to ReplyIf you want to spend $200 and still feel hungry and cold, go ahead!
As a regular for over 15 years, it took a lot for OB to finally change our mind in never going again. Let’s begin with Auberge, they used to be one of the better restaurants before the arrival of Alo & others. They never had amazing ingredients, but their service , atmosphere and culinary skills were constant. Well, not anymore! For $200 per person on new years days, the food and service was less than pleasing to say the least. Nothing from the ingredients was at all unique nor special. Fish as the main was likely previously frozen causing it to have an awful texture. Portion used to be one of their strong points, but that is also out of the window during several meals we had this year. Wasn’t sure if the server was in a rush or just his personality, but he was rude to unpleasant to be with. A simple question of whether a replacement could be made turned into a nightmare of one minute awkward silence. “No, no substitutions!” As if if he was a afraid guests were to order anything else that would cause his tips to decrease. After the extremely awkward and awful discussion, next question that comes out of his mouth was what wine would you like? I suggest the $250 bottles because it’s amazing 🤨 Days earlier, we also went to Canoe, again nothing impressive and nothing like pre Covid days. It is truly disappointment to see what our dinning scene has coming since Covid. 20% -40% increases every chance we get, food portion and quality down with every opportunity just to save a pretty penny. Wonder who would be next to replace these restaurant chains? In short, for $200 nowadays at auberge, you are still likely to leave hungry and possibly mad because you don’t know what just happened. Friendly personal story and ⚠️ warning, for those who cares about how they are spending their hard earned money.
Be the first to ReplyClassic, elegant and consistent.
While some deride Auberge for not being trendy and for being old, it has survived long enough in a notoriously fickle industry for over 20 years precisely because it is not trendy and is instead classic. Some will also criticize the prices. Yes, it is expensive. Others will harp on the lack luster decor. It is, again, not trendy but is instead elegant. It is above all else perhaps, consistent. Having dined here several times over its long reign among the top restaurants in the city, I found our recent visit as good as each of my previous visits. A recognition hard to afford nearly any other restaurant in the city. The service is formal and very well-orchestrated, but it is not stuffy. The menu though not extensive is well curated to showcase the kitchen's strong French technique across sea, land and fowl. Those who appreciate a strong kitchen and service team, a well-executed meal, and timeless elegance will enjoy the experience. Well worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price of admission.
This restaurant served beautiful food and wine...that's it. The atmosphere was stuffy, the service was average and we struggled to understand some of the food descriptions from staff regarding our dishes. We had the chefs tasting menu, paired with wine. The taste was there, but we were disappointed with the portions. Still hungry by the time we got through the entire experience!!! This experience was NOT worth the price of admission.
Be the first to ReplyFood great, staff not so great
Two of us had lunch at this restaurant on July 22, 2022. We both found the female receptionist a bit snooty and she did not make much eye contact. Usually in the evening, the people at reception are pleasant and helpful. The server was professional, but a little too inattentive. He never asked how we liked the meal nor engaged in any conversation. He came across as shy. The meal was excellent! I have been to this restaurant many times over many years (usually for dinner) and had always been pleased with the food. The service was always professional and usually above average. If you are not too fussy at lunchtime about service, you will enjoy the food.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing degustation
The tasting menu was absolutely delicious and the wine pairings were perfectly matched. A must try if you are looking for a classy restaurant experience.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced, food just okay and under delivered on the experience
I have eaten here many times over the years and also had take out a few times during Covid. But never again. The lovely words on their Web site no longer match a real world experience there. Four couples chose this restaurant over others for a celebration. There was a meat special that they had already run out of to start off. The other dishes were the same old ones — can't they come up with anything new? Portions were very small. Had to request the bread. They missed my dessert which is really annoying when everyone else has theirs. With each course a ragtag group of servers would come out with the plates. It was a far from eloquent service. We were seated in the patio and about 7:30pm a gas leaf blower or power washer starts up just outside. We sent the waiter to fix that which he did. And to top off a mediocre evening there wasn't one chocolate dessert on offer. For the kind of money we spent, we should have gone to Alo. Auberge seems to have lost their way.
Be the first to ReplyBEST FRENCH RESTAURANT IN THE CITY
This is not only the best French restaurant I’ve been to in Toronto, but the most incredible restaurant I have ever been to…ever. It’s my favourite for a reason. The restaurant itself is so beautiful and intimate. Just outside of Toronto (North York) the restaurant is actually a restored cottage that was originally built in the mid 1800s. The service and staff were all so gracious and welcoming. But the food was MIND-BLOWING! It was all plated so beautifully and cooked to perfection. My date and I LOVED their Boeuf and Venison! It’s definitely a luxurious and pricey experience, but worth every penny. It’s my favourite place to celebrate special occasions. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience - exceeded expectations !
We celebrated our anniversary with a special dinner at the Auberge du Pommier. It was our first experience here and this restaurant did not disappoint! Our server, Andrew was very attentive and knowledgeable, and had a very pleasant and cheerful disposition. And hats off to the dining room support staff - who were also very attentive, professional and efficient. Our meals were expertly prepared and we were treated to some exceptional French cuisine with a modern touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience this evening and look forward to returning to the Auberge again !
