Dinner for 2 on a Saturday Night.
Started badly - on arrival, we were taken to a table with 10cm space on one edge for one of us to squeeze through to our seat. We asked for another table with more space, were told the place was fully booked, and so we would have to make do with this table. There were plenty of other tables available at this time, we should have been offered an alternative.Aperitifs came fairly quickly, but generally service was brusque, curt and unfriendly.Starters were the beetroot and walnut salad with homemade basil cheese, and the veal sausage with polenta and apple. The salad was dull, simple and uninspiring. The veal sausage was very good indeed and is highly recommended.Main courses were duck breast with beetroot sauce, and braised ox cheek with mash. The duck was woefully underdone; the white tendon within the breast making it almost impossible to cut with a knife, or chew. It was sent back to be at least warmed through. The ox cheek was tiny, a little larger than a golf ball. It was covered in a sticky, sweet/salty tar-like substance, which glistened menacingly on my plate. The ox cheek was cooked to dryness, even the layer of fat between the two muscles has completely disappeared. The swipe of mash was delicious, by the way. How this plate of food could be served in a restaurant, for over £30, with a clear conscience is beyond me. I saw other ox cheek dishes being served to other tables; none looked appetising. Dessert was the highlight, the sweet burrata with berries was an excellent alternative to the missing-in-action Cannolo (apparently, Chef was unhappy with the cannolo so withdrew them from the menu, which made me wonder how very bad they must have been bearing in mind what was allowed out to be served), and the deconstructed apple tart with cinnamon ice cream was acceptable.Difficult to imagine we will ever go back because it was simply not good enough. Terrible value for money, quality of cooking was poor to average, and service was just cold.A pity.

Be the first to ReplyFinding this restaurant was a pleasant surprise.
The food was terrific but the best part was the desserts - these alone are worth the visit. I highly recommended the crème brûlée, and they brought extra little desserts at the end of the meal that were out of this world.

Fantastic and fresh Italian food in London!! Great food, great service, and great ambiance!! We were lucky to be with a big group and tried most of the menu!! The salt baked sea bass was perfection, the burrata was some of the best I've had, and I could go on and on. Wine lovers will be impressed with the wine selection too!
Be the first to ReplyOnce again Babbo provides the right sort of meal/experience
Once again Babbo provides the right sort of meal/experience I was looking for. I paired the lasangna with a nice bottle of cabernet and then finished it off with the cheesecake and expresso. A great expereince. Best part of the night was i checked in on instagram and tagged david and willian and willian looked liked my status. (Huge chelsea fan from san diego, ca)Once thing I might recommend is to get some sort of logo in the front to know where the restaurant is easier. Will always come back to babbo and will be in again upon my next visit in December.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service.
Highly recommend the burrata cheese. It's a formal restaurant, so get a bit dress up if you're going there.Nice for a romantic dinner (just a little noisy though).

Not sure I need to say more....but I will. Wonderful cozy, upscale atmosphere with attentive staff to anticipate our every need. The starters were very tasty and beautifully presented. The beef carpaccio was my first, but won't be my last. Wonderful London dining experience. Fantastic, all-around dining experience.

My to go restaurant when i have no idea where to go have dinner and want to be satisfied. The chef is awesome and use fresh seasonal products. So you might get a different menu depending if it is winter or summer. The burrata is neat and creamy, the pasta are homemade and leave some room for the freshly made ice cream (the strawberry one is amazing) Staff is discreet and warm. A great place for authentic roman food in an awesome area (Mayfair)

I went to this charming Italian Restaurant for the first time on Saturday with my partner. We totally fell in love with the charm of this place. The service was fantastic and we had the most incredible food ever, authentic Italian cuisine with just a little twist.Great selection of wine to suit most tastes and the sommelier really knew his stuff.Looking forward to our return visit soon.
Be the first to ReplyDecent but pricey Italian food.
Restaurant itself was warm and inviting with yellow tones and lovely black and white photos on the wall. Service was fine but not outstanding. At this price point I think there are probably better places one can go for Italian in the city...
