Baby Luc's is a victim of its sister restaurant's success.
I mean, this pizza ain't bad at all...but considering I typically call Lucali's pie the best in Brooklyn (and NYC), I was expecting Baby Luc's to be equally life changing - which it is not.Good/above-average square slice for the neighborhood, but not worth a dedicated trip if you don't live closeby. On the other hand, I still recommend Lucali as a destination spot.

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from but I LOVED the pizza here! And I consider myself a pizza connoisseur! Way shorter wait time, more of a take-out vibe, but same quality as Lucali's. I have to admit the margherita was way better than the sausage and pepper we also tried, but the slices had amazing proportions. The dough was thick but still had a big crunch, the sauce was delicious (could have used a bit more sauce but I'm just a sauce gal), and the cheese was *chefs kiss* (also could have used a bit more cheese but obvs I have a cholesterol problem). The basil was also big and fresh!! I loved. I wish I had another slice right now. There is some seating inside and you can see the pizza being made behind the counter. Employees were speedy, nice, and attentive. There was additional outdoor seating and it was nice to see all the doggos walk by. Will be returning for sure!

I dropped by on Saturday afternoon for a quick margherita slice (thin square). No line. I thought I would hate it because it's a $5+ slice but I have to admit it was delicious. The freshest ingredients used and it's topped off again with fresh Parmesan and fresh basil. Decent undercarriage on my slice. Friendly staff. There are tables inside and outside. Water is available as well

5 STARS for the tomato sauce!!! If you are in the area I would check it out for their pepperoni slice or anything with that tomato sauce, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.I tried the broccoli rabe and the pepperoni. I usually love broccoli rabe but this slice has a lemon zest ricotta which had a strong lemony taste. Not sure that I loved that. Would have preferred a spicy ricotta or maybe the broccoli rabe with sausage instead? The pepperoni slice is solid. Again, tomato sauce was so good but don't know if the slice stood out. I would try the sausage one since other reviews are raving about it.This spot is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and they have plenty of outdoor seating as well. Very casual. Service is excellent and quick! They also have more items on their menu besides pizza!
Be the first to Replyonly the best slice of pizza i have ever had.
nicely crunchy bottom, middle is fully cooked but moist dough, cheesy somehow, red sauce tastes fresh but well seasoned and again seems like they took their time with it, and the cheese is not overly greasy just holds the heat perfectly. and lastly IF you pepperoni , do it here. or take it home, ITSALSOGREATATHOME (turkey pepperoni, my addition) great next morning cold. great next afternoon, heated. that is the most avid review i could ever give pizza, ever. And the owner was very nice, (the friendly one) , and the folks that work there are all really sweet, and last time i was there they had an oven tuner in, like a piano tuner, but for perfect pizza. so it worked! because this definitely is. ok, it's expensive. 42.00 for a large pepperoni pie, to me it's a once in a while treat, I can probably deal with just a pretty good pizza, the rest of the time. it would be great if it came in under 35 - we are a family on a budget, and that's still more than anywhere local to us. that's all, literally all I have to say about thisOh yeah
Be the first to ReplyIt was good.
. solid but not great. I'm going to come back and try another day as might have been hyped for it. I will request extra or side sauce as had super toast experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our go-to pizza spot since it opened.
We order couple times within the month it has not disappointed until today. Looking forward to eat baby lucs marg with a beer while watching divisional championship and when the pie arrive I thought is was a dollar pizza pie. Very disappointed. No crispy edges, little and sloppy input of ingredients. Why would you send this pizza out to a customer? Pizza is on the higher end at $38 this is not what I paid for.
Be the first to ReplyBegrudgingly, I spent $16.
34 on three slices of pizza here for myself and my kids. I find the price point astronomical. Lucalis they are not, but if you like thick square grandma style slices, then Baby Luc's is worth a try. Everything tasted fresh. The pizza had really great cheese and dough. I could have easily gone for a 2nd slice but decided to save myself the additional $5.45.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing experience.
Really wanted to like it. Pizza crust was soggy and hard to handle, slice sorta fell apart. Asked for a cup of water for my kid who was thirsty and said "we don't do that." Bummer. Go to F&F instead. Much better pizza, much better service.
Be the first to ReplyOrdered a Pepperoni Pie.
The guy said it would take 10-15 minutes. Turned out to be about 30 minutes. The place was not busy at all. Just inefficient. Staff is friendly but doesn't really seem to care about fast or efficient service. Or maybe the wait is intentional...The pizza overall was ok. I think their crust is their strong point. Light and crunchy. There was way too much pepperoni on the pizza though. I know, it's great to have lots, but the problem is that all that pepperoni releases a ton of grease onto the pizza. So there was literally a swimming pool of grease on the pizza. Better option would be to use less pepperoni, or reduce the grease on the pepperoni by baking it a little on it's own and then putting it on top of the pizza. I didn't think it was worth $40.This place is right on the corner of my apt, but not sure it's worth the price and wait. There are a bunch of other solid pizza joints around that charge less.
Be the first to ReplyI don't get lucali's really -- it's fine, but I've never
I don't get lucali's really -- it's fine, but I've never worshipped at the altar. But I REALLY don't get this new offshoot. I ordered from here last night -- mainly because F&F wasn't open. And... oof. It wasn't good. The crust is kind of like a softer boboli crust -- puffy and soggy at the same time, and a little doughy. The cheese is equivalent to pre-grated polly-o, and there's not much of it. And the sauce is like Domino's pizza. It was ok for airport pizza, but if you live in Brooklyn there are tons of options, so why would anyone spend money on something this mediocre?
Be the first to ReplyI call this place Baby Poops not Baby Lucs.
They have no idea how to run a pizza parlour and the pizza is just OK
Be the first to ReplyI am very picky when it comes to pizza.
Not sure why but not any pizza goes well with me. There's only a select few. I need that good taste. This is by far the best I've had in Brooklyn. If in town swing by and give it a try. You won't regret it.
Be the first to ReplyBummer.
As good as Lucali is, I have high expectations for this brand new slice shop, even though they were closed for over a month because of poor reviews and to re-evaluate the product they were putting out. While the pizza itself is a disappointment in that it is not as good as Lucali is, it is not terrible. I did not like that they are selling out now, especially since I feel that the slice is FAR inferior to the whole pies a few blocks down. Here is why.Baby Luc's only sells square slices. No triangles. The only squares offered in slice form are plain (it is a Margherita here), and pepperoni. There are other other varieties here, the sausage and peppers and broccoli rabe, but they only come in the form of pies. Both slices are big in appearance, and the sauce that they both come on come through nicely. I can taste the signature Lucali sauce in every bite. The problems I have is the lack of flavor in the pepperoni, which is minimal in both appearance in taste, and the overindulgence of Parmesan cheese. Unlike Lucali, this cheese makes everything taste more bitter, overtaking the rest of the cheese and the star of the show, the sauce. It also could explain why the slice ends up tasting more bland as it cools. In addition, I am not a fan of all this selling of merchandise throughout the restaurant. To me, that is selling out. One of the best things about Lucali is that it feels like a neighborhood joint for its charm and Brooklyn vibe, with a bit of class added. This feels touristy and forced; if all you are doing is eating pizza, you are doing it wrong. They may be open... for now. However, they still have work to do if they want to be as good as the parent shop.
Be the first to ReplyThe low reviews here a major head scratcher for me.
I had a slice last weekend and thought it was up there with the very best in the city. Crust, cheese, sauce were all perfect. Fast and friendly service. Reminded me of a Roman pizza.
Be the first to ReplyIt's not as bad as most of these reviews make it seem.
It could absolutely be betterThe crust was goodSauce was watery Temperature was warm Staff was cold Swag was the only thing hot and delicious

Be the first to ReplyI personally feel people are being extra harsh on this
I personally feel people are being extra harsh on this place because the hype doesn't match what they are expecting. I'll try to be a bit more unbiased. The pizza is decent, I've been here 4 different times and have had very varying degrees of quality. After my fourth visit and their reopening, I tried it with a friend so I could be conclusive about my verdict. She said it reminded her of "Digiorno", and I couldn't help but untaste it, although make no mistake it tastes like what Digiorno SHOULD taste like (given they brag about it tasting like actual delivery). So it is a better tasting Digiorno, and I've eaten plenty in my younger years so that's not me shaming, what is a shame is that it does not command the 4.50 price point at all. I'm gonna give it 3.
Be the first to ReplyThis place makes me sad.
I want to like it so badly. Yet every time I come here it's so disappointing. Pizza is okay, but the people running it are out to lunch. Last time they forgot our order and we waited 45 minutes before they realized. The time before that, they closed an hour before their listed time. Before then they had randomly closed for a month or more. I wanna be their biggest fan but..... sadly..... I think I've experienced baby lucs for the last time.
Be the first to Replywhere is the cheese? how is there no cheese? it tastes like
where is the cheese? how is there no cheese? it tastes like bad tomato sauce. and they never have any other flavors available by night time (on a friday). so you have to get this tasteless tomato sauce slice. hope your visit here is better than this. id personally like a refund.
Be the first to ReplyReally disappointed - tried when they first opened and
Really disappointed - tried when they first opened and thought the margarita was a little soggy and the service was slow but willing to forgive new restaurant kinks. But went back this week (have been waiting for them to re-open) and the pizza was just not good. A dry and quite flavorless crust, way too much cheese, the fresh basil they used to put on top has disappeared...basically any other slice shop in court st is better.
Be the first to ReplyStrange way to operate a business.
...Tried for the third time to visit Baby Luc's, and for the third time it was closed. No telephone number on their website. Hours are wrong on both their Insta and website. Girl inside said that they were opening at 5 PM today because they just reopened yesterday. Website previously did not mention that they were closed for awhile. She said to check the hours on their Insta, after which I told her that they were wrong. She just laughed. Asked why they had no telephone number...no response. At some point I'll come back, but with all the bad reviews, I wonder if I should...
Be the first to ReplySad excuse for New York pizza.
With so many other pizza spots to go to, I'd suggest you skip Baby Luc's. We've been three times and sorry but three strikes and you're out. The pizza has been dry, burnt and flavorless every time we've tried it. Not to mention they are not cheap. Not worth the money, go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyThe first and foremost important thing to know about Baby
The first and foremost important thing to know about Baby Luc's is that it is no Lucali. If you are expecting it to be as such, you will be disappointed. That being said, Baby Luc's serves up a solid square slice.I was fortunate to try this at a friend's place (they had carried out earlier), but ย apparently there isn't any wait during the weekdays. We had the pepperoni and the broccoli rabe. The crust is similar to a focaccia, more chewy and bread-like than a typical pizza slice. The pepperoni was a bit haphazardly placed, but each slice had a decent amount. No complaints on the sauce or cheese, they were just as they should be. Surprisingly though, I think I enjoyed the broccoli rabe slice more - the bitterness of the broccoli was a nice contrast to the creaminess of the ricotta and just overall had a more interesting flavor profile. I can't say it holds the same caliber as Lucali, but that's an unreasonable standard that 99.8% of pizza places can't match. This is a more than decent slice that I would easily have again.

Glad I didn't go wait in line at their original!! ย I'm really confused about the hype? The publicity? The wait times?! I went in to see what it was all about, around 4pm, and it was dead. Went right up to the counter and ordered 2 margherita slices (square) . To my surprise, both were room temp at best- not the slightest bit ย hot at all! I was standing right there, nobody in front of me, 2 fresh slices...how are they not hot at all? Some of the cheese wasn't even melted, and the shreds falling off! Crust was tough, hard, and dry. Would not recommend!
