Baltaire
Baltaire was the site of our most recent bros dinner. Nothing like a good bros dinner. As Michael Scott once said, "Bros before hos. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They have got your back after your ho rips your heart out for no good reason." The 3 bros sat down in the beautiful open air patio on a nice evening with no humidity. Gotta love LA. The feng shui in here is immaculate, as it just feels like a completed space with no clutter. Everything is as it should be. First and foremost, I need to shout out our waiter Jose. He was JOKES! Engaging with our un-witty banter and humor, just a good people person overall. He also had some great recommendations for wine and food, URGING us to get the octopus as a starter and what a fantastic call it was. Jose even played along with us as we asked what wine he recommended when we were just going to get the cheapest one anyway ahahahaha. We are on the come up but the bros aren't there yet! For starters, we went with the aforementioned octopus, the tuna tartare, and a mix of west/east coast oysters. I'm biased but west coast oysters are LIKE THAT. Apps were fantastic, no misses there. For mains, 2 of the bros got the filet mignon and one got his RARE like a psychopath. He dug his heels in the sand and said that at a good steakhouse you should always order rare. I couldn't disagree more, but this type of civil discourse is what pushes our society forward. He also grew up on a sheep farm so maybe he does have a bit more credibility than me... I always ask for affogato for dessert even though it's rarely on any menu and, much to my chagrin, most times they say they can't do it. Jose met my request with a furrowed brow, light smile, and a quick head nod while saying "Of course" in a tone as confident as Floyd Mayweather when talking about any potential opponent. THANK YOU JOSE THAT AFFOGATO SLAPPED. After dinner, the bros hopped in an uber and ended up playing Super Smash Bros and Rocket League into the wee hours of the night. A true bros night. IG @jnov_

My wife and I treated a friend to dinner here. Our server (Jonas A.) was attentive and humorous. The food was delicious as always: two petite filet Mignon, Maine Diver Scallops, jumbo asparagus, hand-cut fried, and Beignets for dessert. The ambiance is lovely as well. Do make a reservation as we've never dined here without one, and the place is always bustling.

Arrived on time for our reservation. Were made to wait 35 min in the extremely loud and full bar that had live music reminiscent of a bad 80s cruise ship band. Nobody could hear themselves think as people who arrived for later reservations were sat before us. We finally found the manager who was not very apologetic or nice for that matter, he went to the host stand and arranged for us to be brought to our table. The servers were not very attentive came 2 times throughout, one of them mentioned she was so sorry it was so loud and she had to shout at us. Nice right? The food was fine, not the most mind blowing, but also not awful. The drinks were ok, nothing to write home about. I don’t think I’ve ever felt less comfortable at a dining experience, so if anyone wants to shout at their friend to maintain a dinner convo, get treated like garbage by the employees, and have mediocre food/drinks while being a captive audience to a bar mitzvah style rendition of a Jackson 5 song while trying to enjoy a ‘Michelin’ rated meal, Baltaire is gonna be your jam!

Don’t quite understand where the good reviews come from… The Food is very very MEDIOCRE to be nice. Salmon crispy rice, rice was super hard, lobster Mac and cheese was very bland, we had to dip it in our sauce to give little more flavor. Branzino was small portion and salty. We dipped it in Mac and cheese to make it little better tasting. Drinks were not good, didn’t leave us wanting to order more. The old fashioned tasted like Potpourri and on top of that we told them we had birthday and nothing… for fine dining restaurant I definitely have been to way better places in LA. If it wasn’t for the fact we were there for a birthday, I would have definitely walked out. Also told them twice we had birthday and nothing. would not go again!
Be the first to ReplyLocal Gem/World class amazing restaurant!
I had very low expections- this is popular place and it was a Saturday evening- surely very crowded. Well- i stand corrected. Meredith , manager I think, was wonderful. She helped our group seat ourselves together at bar seating for my friend‘s birthday. Greg was an exceptional bartender. He made a cocktail I‘d never heard of- and it was one of the best things ever, ever. The ahi tartar was good, the octopus , the steak tacos…… and whoa, I forget what they call the beignets but they‘re even better than beignets. Meredith did not lead us astray even once; greg neither. And Shoutout to Marco who served our table. Pro tip- if you‘re smarter than I am, request extra tarot chips w the ahi! I usually do not leave my area but Baltaire does everything above and beyond. Advice from a local! (Ask me anything )

This is clearly a place where people come to see and be seen. While the food overall was very good, Not sure that it was so good as to be commensurate with it's prices. Service was overall very good to excellent as well. Worth a try for that special occasion
Be the first to ReplySpectacular service
The food is exceptional, but great food is nothing without great service. This spot certainly does provide excellent service. The meats are well chosen and well-prepared, and the wine list is impressive.
Be the first to ReplySnobby vibes, overpriced, and mediocre food
We arrived at Baltaire at 6:16 pm for a 6pm reservation. I know this exact time because the snobby and rude hostess said she could not see us past the 15 minute grace period. After pointing out how ridiculous it was especially seeing that the restaurant was empty, she stated "as a courtesy we can seat you as long as your out in 90 minutes". We sat down, and were immediately reminded by the uninviting waitress that we need to leave in 90 minutes. After our extremely mediocre appetizers, we ordered the scallops, branzino, and burger. The waitress said that the burger could only be served at the bar, not on the floor. The branzino was flavorless and the 4 scallops were unimpressive. 400 dollars later (but not 90 minutes later), we left and will never return. Snobby vibes, overpriced, and mediocre food.

Baltaire rates a 20! Just superb!!
We went to Baltaire last night for our anniversary. It was a spectacular evening! The wait staff was just wonderful. We had 2 items prepared at our table. I got Greek Salad and Dover Sole. Just delicious and skillfully prepared. My husband got the filet tasting and the small fillets were sooo tender and scrumptious!! Even the Valet Parking was fast and efficient. We got a free dessert for our special night too!! We will definitely go back!

Taste of LA 2019
I had the pleasure of sampling a dish provided by Baltaire at the Los Angeles Times The Taste - 2019. The grilled Octopus was so tender and good that I woke up the next morning wanted to drive to Baltaire for more.
Be the first to ReplyFun Night Out
We had an excellent experience at Baltaire all thanks to Manager Leanne who guided us through a tasty experience of appetizers, cocktails, entrees, wine and dessert. We couldn't have done it without her and she made the experience even more fun and enjoyable. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect setting
Truly enjoyed the dining experience! From the warm welcome from the hostess stand through the service at the table, everything was exceptional. Ordered the grilled artichoke which was a little flavorless and undercooked but the lamb chops made up for it. Would definitely go back if not for anything else to have a drink at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak, great wine and great service
We are two fantastic rib-eyes cook to perfection, wonderful shrimp cocktail and artichoke for appetizers and an extremely knowledgeable waitress who introduced us to some wonderful wines. Expensive but worth it!
Be the first to ReplyOH MY! Deliciousness!
We were visiting from Phoenix & it was the weekend after Easter. There were 5 of us visiting from various places. We were staying close by in the Brentwood area at a BnB so we Ubered there which took 5 minutes! Others met us there and we were seated immediately upon arrival even with an incomplete party. That was a great start to a wonderful evening.
Our waiter was a very nice gentleman, Manu, with excellent service. He has a french accent & was a handsome fellow so it made the evening even more fun & sophisticated!
We started off with martinis which were yummy & they should be at $22 each! Others started with Tequila which was also pricey at $23 & $22! So keep in mind this is an upscale place! There also a live band playing in the bar area which was right behind us, we were in the elevated dining area. The bar area was a happening & the band gave a more festive feel to the evening.
We each got a starter, I had the organic Iceberg wedge (I'm sucker for a good wedge) & this was great. Lots of yummy dressing & bacon lardons! Everyone else got the Caesar salad except for one who ordered the Jumbo shrimp cocktail. Next for entrees, I ordered the Lamb Chops, my Boo had the Prime Filet Bone-in w/ the au Poive sauce. He thought his was the best until he tasted my Lamb. WOW! So divine!! Others ordered the Salmon, the grilled Branzino and the Prime Filet. The sides were the Belgian frites, roasted heirloom cauliflower & the crispy brussel sprouts. All were fantastic! Some also had wine with dinner. For dessert we 5 shared the peanut butter pie & the Butterscotch pot de creme. These were off the charts delish!!
It was one of those dining experiences that are rated in your lifetime. This was definitely in my top ten. We had a wonderful experience & great memories! PRICELESS!!
Gordon Ramsey would have the Chef FIRED!
There was three of us for dinner and you know how the saying goes, “three strikes and you’re out”! Well, tonight would have struck out a whole team due to the lack of care by the Kitchen. After ordering the steak sampler with NO crab... obviously it turns up WITH crab. After tracking down our waitress it gets sent back. Plenty of time passed for the other main courses to get cold as the vegetables came out in dribs and drabs, . The fish was cold but the guest didn’t want to make a fuss. The side order of peas did not turn up, only to be told later they had actually run out of peas. The lamb chops were ordered medium-well and came out raw... I’m not talking a little raw... we’re talking so blue the chops were so alive it made sushi look cooked. It was so disgusting, it put me off my food that when the steaks came back I couldn’t eat them. The manager and waitress tried their best to make it up, which was some consolation (and the only reason this review got 2 stars and not 1). Sadly I/we will never, ever be back at this restaurant and honestly, for a restaurant of that caliber and at those prices... the chef should be sent back to cooking school.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced for the quality- mostly a place to see and be seen
I don't mind paying for things if they are of superior quality. But everything was super expensive and the food, honestly, was average. the best things was the appetizer, grilled artichoke- really tasty. But the filet was tasteless ( I know its a less fatty steak but I've had some that the knife cut like butter and were delicious and that was not this experience). The brussel sprouts touted by the water were ok, but actually kind of soggy. T wine was overpriced for what it was ( more than doubled in price and very few choices under 150 dollars) and the Silke pie was ok- but we didn't finish it. The worse was the waiter, laconic, couldn't be coaxed into pleasant pleasantries. and just had kind of sour attitude from hello. He had sommelier creds but unlike truly passionate wine lovers he didn't get excited about their selections or show intense interest in anything. He was, in short, a drag. the room is sleek and expansive but we were pressed between two families with screaming kids. When we paid our 300 dollar bil ( ( 130 was the wine) we both felt " had". So if you want to be Hollywood cooll ( you know, rent yourself a Maserati for two hours so you look affluent) then by all means go to this Brentwood restaurant. But there are better steaks out there, and better deals for a west LA kind of evening. We were both disappointed and won't be back.
