Incredible stay!
The atmosphere at this hotel is unlike any other, and we cannot recommend it enough! Ishwar has been our waiter for our stay. He was excellent, and met us with the most friendly smile at the breakfast buffet every morning. We had the uttapam, dosa and masala omelette for breakfast, and they were all incredible. The staff here is the most welcoming and polite, we will definitely come back next time we visit London!

We were a group of 6. We enjoyed great food and an excellent ambience. Easily accessible by public transport. I don’t have much else to say

The food was amazing best food I have ever eat in London . Gayathri and Rasel were really nice and friendly servers. Even my kids enjoyed eating indian food here. Thank you so so much Gayathri and Rasel Pooja from USA

Wonderful food. Lovely service from Gaurav. Atmosphere relaxed but professional. Would highly recommend we’ll be back soon. Thanks Gaurav!

The atmosphere is open, friendly and very welcoming. The interior is stunning and spacious. The staff were all tremendous, especially Gaurav and Gayatri who couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we wanted and needed. They gave advice on dishes which were incredible. Lamb chops for starters were stunning, so soft and beautifully spiced. Following mains both had different chicken dishes and garlic naans (I know now what a naan should taste like!) Tasty chicken, fantastic sized portion. And no snobbery about a doggy bag! Once again, all servers were so kind and welcoming. Thank you, we will be coming back again soon!

Sumaiya was a wonderfully welcoming host and can not praise the full Indian breakfast highly enough. Fresh with great pickles and seasoning, a wonderful treat. Recommend

It would have been a 5 star, but the menu is a little pricey and the restaurant was quiet for a Friday night, so not much atmosphere but the service and food were excellent.

Excellent Indian cuisine, great atmosphere and legendary housing in an old historic school. Whoever saw into this restaurant and boutique hotel planned well. It’s a delightful place to shelter in the shard district.

Excellent authentic fine-dining Indian food. Highlights included lamb shank, King Prawns and the platter starter selections: all delicious. Service friendly and mostly efficient. Could be five stars if the service was top level.

Stunning building and decor. Wonderful food and service, probably best Indian I've had including restaurants in India. 5 Star.

Stopped in for lunch. Looking for chicken tikka masala and was surprised it wasn’t on the menu. Server suggested butter chicken. Great suggestion as it was delicious. Mango lasi was tasty too. The naan was okay, nothing remarkable.
Be the first to ReplyChristmas at Baluchi
We booked Baluchi for a post-Shuffleboard Christmas meal for 10 people. The reservation was dealt with efficiently and all our (varied...) dietary requirements made note of. We were warmly greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome. The food was delicious and accompanying wine and cocktails also hit the spot. Service was prompt and friendly. Beautiful environment which created a Christmassy ambience. All our party came away having had a lovely evening.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Indian restaurants in London!
To begin, the hotel is situated in what used to be an old-British school, so the decor, and theme of the restaurant make intelligent references to it, which is a nice touch. The senior staff was very warm and welcoming, and make dining there a pleasure. The food was incredible. As Indians, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Baluchi Dal was incredible, and in the dessert, we had the Gud Paratha, a rarely seen dessert in Indian restaurants, which was done so well. The bar was also very good, and made the drinks perfectly! Overall, great meal, the service could be a bit better, but wonderful experience. Highly recommend for good Indian food, vegetarian and meat.
Be the first to ReplyClassy Restaurant and a very different menu
I had booked a table for dinner and was quite shocked when we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty on a Thursday evening. This is a big room ( I think the old school assembly hall) in this charming hotel. The menu was completely different, nothing you would see in a regular indian restaurant, as this is the real thing rather than many in the local high street which are Bangladeshi. This is where help was needed from the staff and they were extremely helpful in explaining the dishes on offer. We shared a tandoori lamb chop starter and had a lovely main course with sides, the desserts were also very special. Just a pity it was so quiet and no background music. Well worth a visit however for something different in a really beautiful hotel.
Be the first to ReplyThe Best food in London
Baluchi could be hands down one of the best Indian restaurant in London serving mouth watering authentic Indian dishes. Menu is limited but whatever they do they do it good. I dined two times & already craving about the food. A must visit when in London.
Be the first to ReplyFlavours that will move you
First of all the restaurant is located in a prime location in a beautiful boutique hotel. The grandeur of the restaurant is an experience in itself. Then an extremely talented Chef Jomon and his team greet with a warmth. Chef Jomon is a pure artist who not only understands and explores flavours but also manages to balance them beautifully. Two of us were vegetarian and one non vegetarian. We left it to expertise of Chef Jomon to suggest us starters, main course and dessert. -Veg Starters - Paneer Tikka, Cream Broccoli & Hara Bhara Kebab We have not tasted a better broccoli or hara bhara kebab anywhere. The flavours in both these starters were amazing and well balanced. Chef Jomon was kind enough to give us details of the marinations used. The tenderness and flavour of Paneer Tikka too was amazing. -Non Veg Starters - Lamb chop, Malai chicken tikka & Tandoori salmon Extremely succulent meat starters almost melted in the mouth with burst of unique flavours. -Main course - Seasonal mix vegetables, Dal Makhani, Saag Paneer & Butter chicken served with fragrant pilau rice and variety of bread basket. Each dish was completely authentic with traditional North Indian flavours, very well balanced and flavoursome dishes. Rice was perfectly cooked and breads were soft tender that perfectly accomplished the main course dishes. -Dessert - Never tasted before the two varieties that were served by Chef Jomon were created from his childhood memories. Mini gulab jamuns served with paan (betel leaf, rose flavour) on fragrant bed of soan papdi. Something one must try. Stuffed sweet paratha with milk rabadi. Again chefs own creation. My friends who accompanied me were so impressed that they had to say that this was a never experienced dining experience in both UK and India (A huge compliment). We personally thank GM Harshit Vyas, Hotel Manager Rajnish Verma, Chef Jomon Kuriakose and their F&B team for an evening to be remembered. A MUST TO BE TRIED DINING EXPERIENCE
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE. RUBBISH. AVOID.
I would like to start of by saying Corneilu who was looking after us was very good. He took our drinks order and food order in good time and starters came out quickly. The mess that happened after wasn’t his fault, he was rushed of his feet and all the time I was there he was jumping from table to table. Now into the issues. The starters came and were fine. Then it took an hour for our mains to arrive. And they only arrived because Corneilu chased it up. After an hour waiting the prawns came out. They sat on the table and got cold because it took a further 10minutes for anything else to come out. Burger came out cold too. The curry and naan were fine. Now we asked for the prawns and burger to be reheated or re cooked. Or something. Prawns came out again and were fine. But my burger was basically microwaved. It was a pile of Sloppy mushy mess. One bite and couldn’t stomach it anymore. This was just the issue with the food and service. Issues started before we even arrived. Got a call to confirm reservation and was informed there was a party of 45 but they can “accommodate” us I was told. Excuse me? Accommodate me? I booked a month in advance. No one’s doing me a favour here. Anyway I should have listened to warning signs. Got there and it was like being at a corporate party. Someone was having their work do. Giving speeches. Walking around. Laughing and giggling. And while we’re sitting there they’re moving furniture about. Right through the restaurant. All this and it’s supposed to be my wedding anniversary meal. Safe to say I will never be going there again and I do not recommend it to anyone at all. Absolute shambles. AVOID.

We recently visited the restaurant for our daughter's birthday and wow what an experience. Amazing and authentic Indian food by top class check Jomon. Highly recommend this to all who wants to try the real taste of India :)
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband and I had dinner here on our first trip to London. Neither one of us had ever had Indian food. Least to say, this restaurant is uber-gorgeous! Although it's spacious, it projects a very cozy vibe. The wait staff provided us with stellar service; attentive and patient! We had a few questions, as already mentioned, it was our first time having Indian food! Least to say, the food was INCREDIBLE! Did I mention how incredible the food was !!? My husband had Tandoori chicken with Saffron rice and I had the lamb basmayri (??). Everything was exceptional-even the desserts! We hadn't had such an extraordinary dining experience in years. If you're in London and desire an extraordinary Indian meal with an atmospheric vibe then Baluchi is the place for you!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible Valentine’s afternoon tea!
Came here for a Valentine’s afternoon tea, and boy was it an afternoon tea that was worth the 💷
Excellent service by Haysten and Sujeetra, incredible Indian food in small portions, delicious high chai tea and free refills on everything! Cannot recommend highly enough.
Great afternoon tea
Booked an afternoon tea for three of us and it was great. Obviously an Indian afternoon tea so the tea was delicious and you can have as much as you want. We had vegetarian food so I can only comment on that.
It was a good variety of bhel dhokra samosa paneer fritters and veg ‘kebab’. Also delicious mango lassi. Food was also bottomless so just ask for more should you wish.
Apparently we had two and half hours seating time and I’m sure we went over that, but as they were not busy at this particular time, it was not an issue.
The only thing and this is minor, I feel the dessert could be better, but having said that the gajar halva was delicious (but could have been served hot with ice cream?). Just my suggestion…..
The ambiance of the building is lovely, and the staff extremely polite and attentive.
This place is a real gem in London and the afternoon tea was very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend 😊
High Chai, Low Standards
My wife and i enjoyed the High Chai at the Lalit's to start the weekend of birthday celebrations. The whole experience was fantastic and with the new Covid rules, it was a pleasant afternoon.
The bottomless chai was well spiced and welcomed many times as was served in small cups - so would cool down quicker. The Indian street food was a little hit and miss, as a Gujarati, I had expected HIGH standards of flavour and was sadly presented with supermarket frozen food! To start with we bit into the 1 inch cube of Dhokla which was served naked without the tarka or any corriandor, leaving it dry. A hint to the chef that it’s not really served like that, Not even on the street!
The rolls and Somosa was “ok”, pleasantly flavoured and not oily at all, but nothing to shout from the roof tops..
To summarise, I have had better tasting Indian snack food/street food from local eateries - although not as nicely presented. The host, the assistan manager was a delight to talk to and even showed us around the gallery and guest room with history.
We had an experience, sadly not good enough to return.
High Chai..! A must try.!
High chai..! A fab experience.!
We went for my dads 75th bday celebrations back to our fav restaurant at The Lalit. The high tea was beautifully presented with scrumptious dishes. Dhokla, samosa, kati rolls and the yummy desserts with mango lassi were simply delectable. Thank you for making our visit so so special with a lovely dessert plate for dad!
