Bar Luce Milano Reviews from The Last Year
Lack Of Style And Substance
The last visit on our trip before heading back to our hotel and the airport, I was intrigued by the design of this place with it's link to Wes Anderson the director, even though I'm not a fan of his films I thought it would be an interesting place to visit. The bar is a little out of the main city and located in what looks a little like an office district and not really well signposted to the point we walked past it a couple of times. When we finally got in the decor was nice and gave off that 50's America vibe. We went to order and were pretty much ignored by the staff behind the counter until we got their attention. We had a couple of Aperol Spritz, a couple of cokes and a pair of Ice Lollies with it being a warm day. This came to in the region of £30.00 which wasn't cheap. We sat in a couple of chairs with little tablets that you pull in front of you to put your drinks, a table then came available so we moved to it at which point one of the waiters pointed out pretty dismissively we needed to pay table service to sit there, 25% even though we got our drinks ourselves. Do I recommend going here, no there are many better places to go to, this offers nothing other than a mildly diverting appearance and a feeling that you are disturbing people at their job.
Underwhelming and Overglorified Pitstop
The experience is pretty underwhelming, there’s way better, more Wes Anderson - ish bars around Milan compared to this one. Basically a glorified cafe for the Fondazione Prada. Service staff were poor, they were standing around and chatting, the environment didn’t feel really welcoming. Hot chocolate and croissant we had was good, nothing to shout about. Also what was the point of the pin ball machines if they are not plugged in? Glorified decorations. Save the trip not worth going all the way just for the cafe.
What more can you ask for?
A classic Italian bar designed by Wes Anderson. What more can you ask for? It’s a popular destination so plan to wait or go at an off time if you want a table.
A filmmaker Wes Anderson design.
Beautiful turquoise and pink interior- pink terrazzo floor and green upholstered Formica ( comfy) furniture; classy veneered wooden paneling. Steve Zissou( Bill Murray) pinball machines. A jukebox playing Italian hits from the '50s and '60s. We must be on the set of the movie" The Grand Budapest Hotel". No, perhaps " The Royal Tanenbaums" or wait " The Darjeeling Limited". Or " Rushmore" ? We are actually in Milan, Italy on a very exclusive block where Mr Anderson teamed up with Prada to bring to us this fun, comfortable and beautiful cafe and bar serving gorgeous cakes, yummy and big sandwiches and drinks galore. We got a few veggie sandwiches that were delicious - sun dried tomato and cheese; a Caprese with the freshest mozzarella that would make you cry. The highlight was the Cafe's signature cake - vanilla pan de spagna with chocolate cream and covered in pink fondant with espresso! ( photo)OMG! Loved the staff. The waitstaff was so cool. They were in white shirts and black bow ties and made this experience even more enjoyable. So please - the next time you fly into Malpensa airport in Italy. Rent that Lamborghini and head southwest about 45 minutes to Bar Luce. You will absolutely love it. Oh yeah, the prices are reasonable. The next day, hop in your speedster and head north about an hour to another beautiful spot where you just might bump into Mr George Clooney in Como. Have a great time!

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
