Bastible Dublin 8 Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful meal.
My husband and I and friends were in the Bastible recently and had a magnificent meal. I have had many tasting menus and I can honestly say this one was excellent. The balance of tastes and flavors of all the different dishes was so well chosen and so well executed. It really was very enjoyable. The restaurant is understated and relaxed and the service was friendly and polished. The headwaiter gave us a very good explanation of each of the matching wines. I can highly recommend this restaurant and its beautiful tasting menu.
Restaurant coasting on its Michelin star serves bland, uninspired menu
Our trip to Ireland included visiting four Michelin-starred restaurants - two in Dublin (Bastible and Variety Jones), one in Galway (Aniar) and one in Kilkenny (Campagne). This is what we do - we love tasting menus. It’s our thing. So trust us when we tell you that BY FAR the worst experience of the four was Bastible. We were so disappointed. The meal was really uninspired. When the best thing you’ve eaten all night is the bread course, you know something is wrong. The chef owner was not in the kitchen, but I’m not sure it would have made much of a difference. We opted for the wine pairing and found the wines to be similarly bland. Leaving the restaurant, we were still hungry so we went down the street to Tenters and had a charcuterie plate. Crazy to spend €500 and still be hungry. This feels very much like a restaurant coasting on its Michelin status. By comparison to Variety Jones, which was outstanding, this was a huge miss - and yet, was also one of the most expensive meals we had in Ireland. On the way back home, my wife and agreed that the chicken dish they served on the airplane was better than several of the bland courses we had here. We suggest skipping Bastible.
Perfect
After a ropey tasting menu the previous evening in another venue, I was looking forward to Bastible and I was not disappointed. Everything was perfect, including dishes that contained ingredients I thought I didn't like. The wines were well selected and I left very happy.
Wonderful
Wonderful. If you are in for spectacular food but not the stuffy “white tableclot” vibe that usually accompanies a Michelin star, definitely recommend Bastible. Staff are friendly, no pretentious air just knowledge and attention to detail. We booked the booth, it’s very atmospheric and intimate. Also one of our party had the vegetarian menu. Highly recommend. The dishes are perfect for spring, zesty and fresh. Wonderful experience all round. I’m glad it’s not my local. I’d be bankrupt 😁 and it might just be worth it!
Amazing 💯
Food is full of flavours. Small Plates but plenty of elements. Pairing wines were good. Service was attentive and informative. Excellent experience
Excellent choice for a special day.
I booked this restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The experience was amazing, delicious food and the wine pairings were amazing. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Nice food
We went for a belated birthday dinner and the food was nice. The tasting menu had a wide variety of dishes and they were quite tasty and the balance of flavours was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our drinks arrived quickly. We are not wine people and we have found it’s a common theme in Dublin, that when you order and finish one drink that they do not take another drinks order unless you flag them down. While I don’t mind doing this, it is nice when the waiters ask if you’d like another drink. The only complaint was the dessert-neither of us liked the dessert on the tasting menu but everything else was nice. The waiters explained each course and were very knowledgeable.
Lovely food, service not Michelin standard.
Fabulous food, disappointing end as we were rushed out despite not finishing our meal and evidently no booking waiting. Great food, very below average service and atmosphere.
Stunning flavours and warm service
We booked Bastible after some research as a special meal while in Dublin for the weekend for a birthday and we were blown away! The standard of food and wine was impeccable while the service was warm and attentive without being fussy or snooty. The sommelier was so knowledgeable about each individual wine pairing, and they complemented the dishes beautifully. Thank you for giving us the list, the Pet Nat is on my Christmas list! The seaweed custard with mussel and caviar was flawless, it literally made our mouths water for more, as did the beef tatare. The cultured butter was also amazing. Highly recommend a visit to Bastible!
An experience without the fuss!
We aren't the fancy type but a friend recommended Bastible while in Dublin and she said it was her absolute favorite. The restaurant only had about 9 tables (mostly for two's) and the ambiance was not overly fancy but inviting and authentic and it has an open style kitchen. The menu is preset which we didn't mind at all and we did review it ahead of time before placing the reservation. Everything was carefully crafted and the whole experience was a perfect way to start a trip. The food is exactly what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Everything was dynamic and well thought out. 5 stars!!

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

My reservation expired but I did not get a credit and I see no way to cancel. How do I the funds back as a credit?

I have a similar question, it seems like when money is refunded it doesnt go immediately what is the process of this since its essentially a debit card and not a credit card
