Beast and Cleaver Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

Well worth the wait for the Peasant Menu! The attention to detail in our meal was incredible. I didn't think I liked lamb but the spring lamb tartare was so delicate and flavorful its made me a believer. The highest attention was given to each and every dish. Staff was friendly and engaging. Cant wait to go back!
I haven't dined here so I can't speak to dining experience.
I stopped by Beast and Cleaver to pick up some beef tenderloin to make beef Wellington and it did not disappoint! They have a wide variety of high quality meats and most of them seem to be grass fed which is an added bonus. Service was great and attentive, initially I couldn't find what I was looking for and one of the butchers came to help me get exactly what I needed. For those who are curious, the beef was superb and the Wellington came out perfect! I definitely will be back.
this hamhock is insane.
.. if you know true southern collards, go ahead and get some hamhock from this place, that's if you know what you're doing there with them collards okay. place is crazy, quality selection, solid folks behind the counter, ambiance is a butcher shop... okay. also got some chicken quarters, pretty damn clean. when i cleaned them with vinegar, the residue after the soak was clear as hell. goodness gracious, god forgive me for eating pork. hands will smell like smoke after handling the hamhock, even if you wash two times with dawn ultra DISH SOAP ... it's crazy man.

Hands down this is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. If Seattle was the on Michelin guide, the food here should be like one Michelin star. Bummed that the chef didn't win at least a James Beard because the food here is top notch! I've been here twice for the peasant dinner and I was impressed and satisfied first time and not disappointed the second time either. Quality and taste remains consistent. They put so much thought and work into every dish and it's executed with perfection! I was so impressed first time when I had the best onions I've ever had, some that were smoked in their small custom smoker for 4 hours. Dang that's dedication! The signature dish is their PΓ’tΓ© with pork belly and foie gras, which is the fruit of the labor of love. The dishes seem "humble" but they are filled with aged and smoked meats from the butcher shop that are cooked to perfection with care. Second time, we had goose on the menu! I've never had goose meat before but it was amazing and probably the best goose I will ever have. I imagine it would be gamey and chewy if I had it anywhere else but because Beast and Cleaver did it right, I'm happy to explore and eat whatever they serve me here. I didn't get the wine pairing second time but even that is fun and filled with unique great tasting wines. This place is SUCH a hidden gem. The food here reminds me of the food at Off Alley but execution is miles better, better format, and fairly priced. Only thing I'm miffed about is they don't give new utensils with each course and there have been times where I had to hold onto my dirty fork and other times where my spoon was cleared away by accident and I was out utensils for dessert. It's a very small inconvenience and I'm splitting hairs at this point. Amazing talented chef, amazing meals. It's one of my favorite "fine dining" tasting menu restaurants in Seattle (other ones being LTD Sushi, Taneda, and Wa'z).

Excellent service and such knowledgeable staff! Their products are fresh and thoughtfully curated for your grill and dinner table. I cant wait to go back for wine and a chef dinner whenever that is offered.

I must say that I never thought a dinning experience in a small butcher shop would be such an extraordinary event. The size of the establishment actually lent to the coziness and ambiance. We were greeted at the door and promptly invited in. Our table for 4 was set up right in front and was comfortable for 4 bear sized men. The Sommelier greeted us and led us on a culinary adventure. We ordered the wine pairing and each wine was served with a detailed description. The food was incredible: served at the correct temperature, quite delicious in every mouth full. Close to the end of our culinary experience, the power went out. actually right before dessert. The staff, which consisted of the chef, sommelier and a bus boy, kept their cool, and since it was my birthday, they put the only candle that was available on my table in front of me. Only request, don't blow it out... When the lights came back on, about 15 minutes or so, dessert was served. The chef (Spencer) came out , thanked each of us for coming and having patience while he and the others went into panic mode. I give them a triple A rating across the board. Well done everyone.
Have been disappointed with my last two visits here.
The team behind the counter were not warm nor inviting and seemed almost irritated by my presence. Also, the pΓ’tΓ©s (and other use to be awesome items) don't have the same quality as they use to. Where's the aged beef? Anyway, kind of a bummer as it was my special occasion go out of my way type of place.

We got a pair of New York strip steaks from Beast and Cleaver a few weeks back. The display had a ton of really amazing steaks in the front of it, but the butcher picked out a few from the back that were pretty terrible quality, turning green with an awful smell (these were not aged steaks). We hadn't noticed how bad they were until we got home and inspected them. Honestly pretty disappointed. People seem to hold this place in high regard but myself and my partner felt a little disrespected after our brief interaction. I don't think the butcher did it intentionally, but it definitely left a bad taste in our mouths as if he was just dumping the poor quality meat off on us.

I am sad to say that our dinner at Peasant (part of Beast & Cleaver) was disappointing, especially because it was so hard to get a reservation and we were so looking forward to it! We arrived on time for the reservation, but had to mill around outside with other guests until they were "ready" and opened the doors with a big flourish. Despite having reserved two months ahead, we were seated at the end of the very cramped bar, practically in the hallway/bathrooms and overlooking the dishwasher. Items were stored all around us and it felt like sitting in a storage closet. We also got to watch and hear the sounds of the dishwashing station right in front of us that was actively used throughout the meal. The chef was quite knowledgeable and friendly, but seemed stressed out and the mood was palpable. He seemed to be doing everything by himself with little to no support staff. We got the wine pairing, which was OK, but the sommelier didn't seem to know much about what he was pouring and timing was often behind the dish being served. Finally- the food! The food was good, we especially enjoyed the famous pate and it was nice to have balanced dishes that included some vegetables. Minuses were food temperature in some cases, timing was just a bit off. Surprising, given that several dishes appeared to have been made in advance. All in all, I can't recommend this restaurant based on the price and atmosphere/level of service. I get that it's a small operation, but quality sadly did not line up for us in this experience.
Great service and high quality meats.
Their Pate is exquisite. Very good price point for the quality.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
