Great Restaurant in Los Angeles
Excellent food in a restaurant that is high on ambiance and good energy. We had 5 adults eating and drinking at this establishment. All drinks were well mixed and not lacking in the amount of spirit included in them. Bestia serves food family style so it is a bit like ordering tapas except the servings are larger. We enjoyed everything we ate and drank and we ate and drank quite a bit. The top favorite was the Duck, though. It was simply superb although the pasta with the bone marrow was also well enjoyed. Finally, we each ordered a different dessert. My favorite was the chocolate tart (torte?). Please note, You need to have reservations for this restaurant and you must be on time with your entire party. One member of our party was delayed. The original indoor reservation had to be surrendered 15 minutes after the time, but the restaurant did work us in and we had no complaints about where we were seated.

I have been to this place twice. Food is good but not excellent. Both time I was here we all felt we been rushed. First time we ( 3 of us) felt we been rushed, our server, every time kept asking are we done. We all thought maybe they are busy but second time, 4 of us, same thing we were rushed after 1 hour. Both time we had reservations. How can you finish your dinner in an hour. This is not a fast-food place. Food is expensive. They are taking advantage of tourists who go there due to Michelin star. They are better than average but do not deserve to have any star.
Be the first to ReplyMagnificent dinner.
First off, thank you for all of the reviewers who highlighted their favorite dishes from their visits. I'm taking your MO and paying it forward. This place is pure rock and roll. Second, if you're looking for a quiet and mellow dining experience, this place won't be for you. There is no way around this. This place is packed with guests, the kitchen is wide open in the mining dining room (inside) and the music is loud. This was on a Thursday evening. You were cautioned. Best dinner experience I've had in L.A. Highly recommend (all have pics except the prawns, they went quickly): Appetizers: Peruvian scallop crudo: sublime flavor profiles. The staff will recommend that you consume them similar to sucking down an oyster. Do it. You'll still get the full taste. Prawns: they were so good I didn't have time to take a pic (you'll see some other dishes are kind of half or a quarter way eaten, the prawns never stood a chance). A little heat, exquisite. Roasted marrow bone: another dish that was just attacked. I barely managed the fuzzy pic I got. The server carves the marrow bone into the gnocchi. As other reviewers mention, you can use the bread to sop up the remaining marrow but those soft gnocchi pillows are heavenly. Pasta: Ricotta tortelli: very good, but next time, I'll give another dish a try. If you're dining with kids, this one is very kid -friendly with enough flavor to please everyone else at the table. Ricotta gnocchi: OMG. The servers recommend you don't mix the burrata cheese ahead of time but instead just dish out chunks of cheese with your spoon and mix in the gnocchi. Do it. Excellent flavors. Smoked sweet corn agnolotti: superb. I could have enjoyed more lobster but I'm being very picky here. I'm so happy that corn got it's day in the sun on this menu. Underrated flavor that really makes this dish stand out. Second course: They were out of the pork loin (boo), the service staff offered a sliced pork chop alternative. Mother of pearl (yay). This dish was a haiku. The pork chop was served medium -rare with a sweet flavor. It was served with red cabbage leaves that were pickled in a sweet/sour marinade that offset the meat perfectly. Simple, yet deep. Dessert: Olive oil cake: my favorite from the trio we ordered. The sorbets that accompanied the cake were wonderful compliments. Strawberry crostata: wonderful bourbon-y (not described in the menu) flavor that you detect after a few bites. Red corn maple ricotta fritters: nice taste. Don't regret the choice but I will try something different next time. This place is expensive, but very worth it. Plan on about $100 per person minimum (w/ about 1 cocktail per person). If you can splurge and won't mind the music, do it. Do it.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food, but overpriced and TOO LOUD
Went fairly early on a weekday night. Place was very busy. Food and service quite good, but overpriced and VERY noisy; hard to have a conversation with person next to me and felt really sorry for staff that work in such a loud place. OSHA should check it out.
Be the first to ReplyLot of Fun in Bestia!
They are top notch service here like fine dining! The Chefs are 5 star chefs serving up amazing food! I loves their service and super fun environment. Cocktails were delish. The food is amazing, tough to get a reservation so plan ahead. The pizza, pasta and the most important is the ambience really loves it!

Wow - what a terrific meal. Hip spot - beautiful people and food was OMG good!!! Casual but always hot spot deep in the depths of town - anyone whoโs anyone finds their way. Our server was nice and all the staff attentive (our server could had been a tad more attentive w wine and check ins, but thatโs ok - she was great enough and nice and helpful - just could have used a few more glasses of wine). The Caesar - might have been the best weโve had! Scallop app - so fresh and great prep and taste! The pizza - marg, and up there w the best in earth (we took a 2nd one home), the Sugo pasta - delish and very unique in flavor. The Budino - very good, we prefer more traditional style pudding vs cocoa crust - but we ate every ounce! Aperol delish and perfect and I did a Sicilian red to start and then a Sangiovese - both perfect wines by the glass. Summary - itโs so worth the drive - itโs about as good a quality Italian as youโll get. Great vibe - energy - people - and FOOD! Itโs way above a 5 - Star delicious and awesome experience - can you open one one Beverly Hills and Manhattan Beach? LOVE IT!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyRushed experience but go anyway and order the bone marrow. You're welcome.
The restaurant experience is a fickle one. it's very difficult to be everything to everyone and Bestia is no exception. I chose it after researching good food in L.A. and hands down was in food heaven. The cocktails were delish and very hipster in mismatched glasses and frothy prettiness. All dishes must be ordered at once (a little bit briskly like when you are told "lights out" at summer camp) but I was in their restaurant.... but given the pacing and busy nature of the establishment I understand the logic. Our table felt a little like it was placed in the walk way but at least we didn't have to do dinner in the alley as some patrons did... I can 100% say booking a seat at the bar would be my first choice to fully watch the "upscale diner" energy unfold. The restaurant is not designed in any way for lingering. You are gently rushed through with a attentive staff who aren't there to play. However, if you give over to the philosophy that you are there to try tastes and not have a long evening you'll have a great time. Prepare to go sit at another bar to chill the rest of the evening for sure. The food was outstanding. The scallop crude suggested by the waiter was insane in its delicate but flavourful bite and the bone marrow....oh the bone marrow. A cloud, salted butter and the marbling of a steak walk into a bar....that's the bone marrow.... The gnocchi served with it was lovely but between you and me I'd spread that bad boy on fresh bread so fast your head would spin. My boyfriend had to try the pork chop athough he felt guilty as he pretty much offered a diamond ring on one knee to Alex Guarnaschelli's pork chop at her NYC Butter Restaurant. It was fabulous... I've gone on to copy the very simple red endive salad with sesame seeds here at home. Wonderful food, I bought both cookbooks while there and we had laughs and loved the experience. The portions are small which is wonderful for us as I like to TASTE and SAVOUR as opposed to get really full and limping through your final bites. Great place. Lots of slinging of fancy purses and "don't you know who I am" attitudes but the chance to try these flavours is worth the quick turn around. Oh yeah. Just do the valet. Wait your turn. You'll be just fine.
Be the first to ReplyCasual but excellent
The arts district is incredible. We walked into a light warehouse complex and came to the building. Looked nothing from the outside. Up a couple of steps and enter a cavernous spectacular buzzing restaurant. Varied menu but Italian roots. Outstanding concept.
Be the first to ReplyTotally LA! Great buzzy venue! Delish!
Great service and super fun environment! Favorite was the bone Maro pasta, if you go for the black squid ink pasta with lobster tell the chef to go easy on the salt! Cocktails were delish. Leave a few extra minutes for the valet. ENJOY!
Be the first to ReplyModern Italian dishes, lively atmosphere!
I met a friend here for a late dinner and it is a very lively and fun place. You will definitely need a reservation because it is really popular and seats tend to stay full until your reservation time. It is located in an industrial area (converted warehouses, etc) but the inside is very clean with an industrial/modern decor. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. The menu is based on โfamily styleโ so you should plan to have 2-4 dishes for a couple. We shared the bone broth and muscles for starters and they were both great. Each dish is a new take on classic Italian recipes. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing so try something new if you arenโt sure. They wonโt disappoint!

The place is a lot of fun and the food is amazing, tough to get a reservation so plan ahead. The pizza, pasta and the whole fish all good choices.

This was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The appitizers, pizza, and pasta were excellent. I would definitely go there again if I go to Los Angeles again.

My friend and I dined at bestia to celebrate his promotion and we loved the food. Fantastic, authentic Italian food with great service. Would definitively come back for more pizza and pasta!!

Great service and the food was fresh and amazing. A real L.A. experience! We actually went twice in the 2 weeks we were in California
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Italian meals my wife and I have ever had
Every serving we had read Italian, but had its own unique and very thoughtful twist. I am highly confident I will never eat as fabulous as lamb neck as theirs. But truly everything was outstanding. From the somm who had an encyclopedic knowledge of Burgundy wines who helped us navigate their offerings, to our server Franklin, who was omnipresent but unobtrusive. The tart dessert finished the meal on a very high note. The whole experience was not to be missed!
Be the first to ReplyPopular Trendy Arts District Spot
Popular Italian restaurant in the Arts District. Came here for my dadโs birthday and made a reservation online about a month in advance. I would suggest eating outdoors because itโs very loud inside, so itโs hard to have a conversation. Valet parking or you can find street parking across the street. Credit cards accepted. Gender neutral bathrooms are in the back left hand side of the store. Food is shared family-style. We had the scallops, which came in four and were really small, but so fresh and tasty. We got the burrata pizza, which had a nice Neopolitan crust. The agnolotti was also smaller in portion size, but had a nice gravy-like sauce that was very rich. Definitely get the lamb neck - it comes with fresh lettuce with mint & dill, and is supremely tender.

Lively crowded Italian restaurant, can accommodate big groups. Excellent food nicely presented, the taste of food is wonderful and the ingredients blends in harmony. Very good service, mid-high price. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyBESTia is the BEST
BEST-ia wow. The first four letters in their name says it all... I haven't been wowed by a restaurant in quite a bit. The anticipation was real when our good friends invited us to dinner. I have been dreaming of going to Bestia for a while now and finally... My tastebuds were in awe with each amazing delectable bite of every single dish we ordered. We went with some Bestia OG's, so we let them take the lead on all the ordering. I feel like we ordered every single thing I would have wanted and more. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will be drooling while typing everything we got. We ordered: (Everything was amazing but the ones with ** my absolute fave) Crab Crostino** Roasted Marrow Bone ** Mussels & Clams ** Little Gems Margherita Pizza Burrata ** Gnocchi al Pomodoro ** Agnolotti alla Vaccinara Cavatelli alla Norcina ** Spaghetti Rustichella ** Grilled Whole Branzino ** 32oz Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye ** Dessert: They were our of the Apple Cider Donuts :( So we got: Creme Fraiche Panna Cotta Chocolate Budino Tart Berry Pudding Cake Blueberry frozen torte So lucky to have gone with a group so we could have a taste of pretty much everything. I will definitely make it a point to make my tastebuds go wild again at least monthly! Thank you, Anthony and Angela, for such great food choices and amazing company. BEST-ia for making me drool at the thought of seeing you again... Hands down, one of my favorite restaurants I have EVER been to.
Be the first to ReplyAn "interesting" experience.
Food? Amazing. BEYOND amazing. Ambiance? Loud. Server? She scolded me for taking a napkin from the place setting next to me and told me next time to ask her for one. She failed to see that my napkin fell on the ground, failed to see my water glass was empty, and failed to see that my friend's wine glass had been empty for over ten minutes. Also, I ordered the salad to start (it's HUGE), so when I ordered with lamb neck that came with a salad, why didn't she explain that I'd be having two salads? Manager? Provided great service to us. Would we eat there again? Yes.
Be the first to ReplyWow!
Wow, what a tremendous culinary experience. The food was simply amazing. Something as simple as a Caesar Salad was constructed in anything but a simple manner both in its presentation & taste. The margarita pizza was tasty, the lamb neck with the the lettuce leaves to wrap the meat in was superb & the porch chop amazing as was the creamsicle torte for desert. The ambiance is quirky in that itโs in a very industrialized neighborhood & if you dine out doors itโs in a dilapidated but very cool open air warehouse. This place is clearly hip too, as Kanye West was dining at the table next to us. Next time Iโm in LA Iโll definitely be back. Highly recommended!!

I am not ashamed to admit that I was influenced to come here by Instagram. Happy to report that it did not disappoint. Our server gave us great recommendations to ensure a balanced meal. The pacing of service was on point and my entire group left extremely satisfied. We canโt stop raving about the Caesar salad, agnolotti, and cavatelli. The meal definitely hit ๐ค๐ฝ
Be the first to ReplyAWFUL EXPERIENCE
The service was abysmal!!
Got the worst drink recommendations and after asking for a side sauce was refused.
The server told me there was nothing on the menu I could eat.
Awful awful awful!!
I honestly think the way we were treated shows a targeted attack. The couples beside us exclaimed at the rudeness and asked them for better treatment.
We got up, paid and left without eating anything.

I Have to Eat My Words
I recently posted an unflattering review of Bestia based primarily upon my experience of trying to make a reservation by phone, waiting two hours and fifteen minutes, and being dropped from the queue before I got to speak to anyone. In my review I implied that it must be too busy or too popular to care about answering its phone. Soon after that I received an e-mail from Laura, the General Manager. She was gracious, acknowledged the problem, explained that it was due to a staffing shortage, and offered me the exact reservation I was hoping to get! My husband and I took advantage of her offer. It was his introduction to the place and my second visit.
Folks, I am going to have to eat my words. Obviously Bestia does care, and, honestly, that is always what impresses me most about any restaurant or place of business. It is the single most important indicator. I can appreciate shortage of staff in these times and the limitations it places on the kind of service a top restaurant would wish to offer. Given the choice between accepting some inconvenience and having L.A.'s better places simply close their doors and wait for better times, I will embrace the inconvenience when I know they are trying.
There was never a problem with Bestia's food, but now with more of it under my belt, I am in an improved position to comment. It really is very good. The combinations of flavors are original and intuitive. There is balance and richness to offerings such as the wilted cabbage salad with salsa verde or peaches and tomatoes with pickled shallots. They seem to invoke their own Mediterranean version of the fifth flavor. Something else that really stood out for me the second time was the desserts, They too have their own character, as balanced and engaging as the savory items. I think I would go just for dessert, which I don't say very often.
To sum up, this place is popular for a reason. The food is special, and the owners care. At the end of our evening, my husband even made the observation that if you have out-of-town guests you should take them to Bestia for the true L.A. experience. Well, LOL. Make your reservation well in advance (but maybe not by phone for the time being).
Totally ruined birthday party with over $2,000 bill.
I booked for my husband's birthday for 10 people with pre fixed menu and 9 bottles of wine reserved. I booked for the event 2 months ago knowing how busy the restaurant gets. Our dinner reservation was for 6pm. Around 9 o'clock, the lady manager said that there was 3 hour limit and there was another birthday party booked for 9:15pm. Plus, she said that the next party was coming in 5 minutes. We were very shocked because we were planning to stay till the close which was 11pm. I complained that there was no notification nor any statement on the contract that stated that there was 3 hour time limit. I wanted to talk to event coordinator/Jessica since we emailed back and forth for 2 months. They said that she was not there at that night. We literally got kicked out. We couldn't even cut our cake because we were in hurry. We were out driving around to look for another place to cut the birthday cake for more than an hour. It totally ruined our birthday celebration with over $2,000 bill. I can't believe this happened. I emailed the event coordinator explaining what happened and asked how come she didn't notify me about 3 hour time limit. 3 days have passed. No reply no apology nothing!!! Never going back to this place again. People be careful. The staff were very rude and very forceful. I can't get over the fact that I spent over $2,000 for this horrible birthday party. I wouldn't have booked for the party if I knew there was 3 hour time limit. 0 star.
UPDATE:
Jessica/ the event coordinator replied and said that the management team are claiming that they did not in fact ask us to leave in any way, rather they asked if they could clear our entrees in order to move our party onto the dessert course. I shared this email with our guests that night. All my guests are shocked and very upset about how they are lying. There was no misunderstanding there. We were asked to leave very clearly and very forcefully. I wish I videotaped all of these. I am contacting their director of operations and owner regarding this.
