🤢 2/5 - There's a lot of hype about this place on the internet and

There's a lot of hype about this place on the internet and it somehow has a Michelin Star. We traveled 30 mins each way to try this restaurant on our last night in Paris. Our experience was sub-par.First, our party of 4 had a reservation for 7:30pm, which is when the restaurant opens. We were seated at the VERY back of the restaurant and crammed on top of the other 7:30 pm tables. "Why are we being packed in like sardines?" I wondered as we passed by the front, open dining room with a view. I quickly learned that the jerks running this place put the majority of the English speakers in the crowded back room with one server, while the front dining space with a view of the street and open air is reserved for locals. This place is popular enough to get away with this BS, but it's still disappointing. Having traveled thousands of miles to try supposedly great French cuisine just to be relegated to the back room and treated like ugly Americans was a bummer for sure. After we sat for 20 mins, our waitress spoke to us for the first time. No introductions or niceties, just "ready to order?" We hadn't even received water yet, but we knew the drill and placed our orders. 45 mins later we received our meals. The 2 person beef entree looked great but it was at least 50% fat and the fat carnage on our plates was disgusting. At least the frites are great. We also ordered the famous pepper sauce filet and frites. The sauce was good, the filet was tough and WELL DONE. Let me repeat: WELL DONE - not what we ordered. I was so disappointed. We ordered the soufflés when we placed our entree order and probably only waited another 30 mins for dessert after dinner. Unfortunately, after dessert we waited for at least 30 mins to get the bill - even though we had asked for the check 4 times since we had early morning travel the next day. If you are coming here to Instagram a famous spot, then sure, absolutely, this is a gem for your social media feed. If you are passing through Paris and are hoping to enjoy a classic Bistrot or steak frites, I urge you to go elsewhere. There are many other quaint local spots that have friendlier service and better quality food. Lastly, our bill was €251 euros (plus we tipped €25 because as an American that is ingrained in our brains) and we didn't even order wine - just a few beers, the steaks dishes, and the soufflés. Horribly overpriced. 2/5 stars at most.
