Absolutely exceptional fine dining
A wonderful experience. True fine dining at its best. You pay for premium quality ingredients and dishes made with real flair and flavour. Bonbon is a must for foodies in the Algarve.
Be the first to ReplyA very good, creative restaurant to recommend!
Dazzling experience. Creative menu, just the right seasoning, perfect food-wine pairing. We had a great time in this restaurant. The service is professional and attentive. A successful first gastronomic experience in Portugal!

We spent an unforgettable evening... An exceptional meal with impeccable and attentive service.... Everything was full of flavor.... You can go there with your eyes closed.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice evening with a really good menu!
We had the large menu with accompanying wine and every course was very good. The restaurant has rightly held the star for a long time.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful!
This Michelin * restaurant is great for a romantic dinner. The dining room overlooks the mountains of Monchique and whilst it can be cool, the team provide blankets!
Be the first to ReplyPerfection in the Algarve
Simply incredible. Innovative, artistic, yet bursting with amazing flavour and flavour combinations. The head chef and his team are so talented and deserve a second Michelin star. Service is perfection - a nice balance of fine dining but with humour and interaction.
Be the first to ReplyBon Bon’s dramatic Vegan tasting menu crushes Eleven Madison Park!
Wow. Bon Bon was the absolute highlight of a wonderfully long vacation in Algarve. A table of vegans with various allergies, we were in awe as the caring and genius chef Jose Lopes brilliantly, creatively and flawlessly adapted Bon Bon’s heavenly 9 course vegan tasting menu to accomodate a sesame and chickpea sensativity. As fans of Manhattan’s Eleven Madison Park - which has been running a seasonall all-vegan tasting menu for several years now - we can honestly and confidently state that Bon Bon has set an entirely new standard for the category, in terms of both food and table service. What an extraordinary experience. The servers were so efficient, comforting, knowledgable and interesting in their approach and actions, and the sommelier dazzled us with unique, suprising and harmonious wine parings throughout the dreamy evening, all tremendously enhancing every single already-mind blowing bite we joyously deposited into our mesmerized mouths. To visit Algarve and not dine at Bon Bon - vegan or not - would be a huge mistake. Run and book this place immediately for an unforgettable, luxurious gastronomical adventure. Thank you chef and staff!
Be the first to ReplyStunning Food, Views and Service
The welcome when you arrive is absolutely Lovely, the View and Sunset is stunnng. The taster Menu with Wine Pairing was perfect, the journey through the courses and quality is just amazing. For me, this is the most perfect location and food. Cant wait to return.
Be the first to ReplyAn experience to savour. Some of the best food, wine and service that you will ever have. A must try venue.
Having been introduced to this restaurant 12 months ago we had to return to relive what is a fantastic culinary experience. Firstly, the setting is unbelievable with a beautiful outlook over the hills and gardens beyond and if you time your arrival right, you can watch the sunset as you review the menu. The format is a nine course tasting menu, which if you wish you can pair up with a wine tasting option. We did not do this when we initially visited, but did this time and it is certainly worth doing. You read the menu, which does not really provide you with the full extent of the quality and flavours you’re going to enjoy. The wide variety of courses, with a different forms of preparation and flavours, insures you keep thinking that the last course you ate was the best, it rarely is! The accompanying choices of wine are also amazing and gives you a real flavour of some of the excellent wines that can be found in Portugal and teaches you how to marry the right wine with the right food. Added to this, which cannot be under estimated, is the high quality service, the explanations that you provided what and how each course is being prepared and cooked And beautifully presented with some of the most incredible plating you will ever see. This restaurant is exquisite. Yes it’s not an economic or choice, but if you want to have a special experience, then all I can say is life is too short, not to try it. We have now been twice and we will definitely return again when we’re in the region. Thank you to the maitre d’, the sommelier and all of the staff. We had a fantastic and entertaining evening. By the way it is not a quick meal and the slow pace environment only adds to the experience
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely flawless
A blast! Perfect amount of food, perfect pairings, perfect amount of care. The minimalist atmosphere at Bon Bon highlights the attentive on point service, the cleanliness and beauty of every piece of porcelain and spotless glasses. Warm and welcoming, tasty and fresh 9 course menu with the wine pairing were flawless and definitely worth it. My kindest regards!
Be the first to ReplyUnexpected super dinner in Algarve
Modest interior but the food o so good.Service excellent and the young sommelier fantastic explanations about the wine. Overall we can repeat our dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience!
We came here for our “baby moon.” My wife was 5+ months pregnant and we had a wonderful experience. They asked about our dietary restrictions and service was impeccable. We could tell there were some trainee staff but the experienced staff was just around the corner to ensure our wine, water, and utensil pairings were on point for the course. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute MUST if you are in the Algarve
BONBON is AMAZING!!! the food was incredibly creative, delicious and so thoughtfully prepared and coursed. The service was out of this world exceptional and the sommelier was one of the most knowledgeable I have even encountered. The overall experience here was OUTSTANDING and by far and way the best meal (and experience) of the whole trip!! if you are in/around the algarve, you need to get yourself here...it was absolutely the most incredible meal.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible Meal in the Heart of the Algarve
What can I say. We thoroughly enjoyed this well designed 9 course tasting menu. First off, it is very reasonably priced. I've paid much more for similar experiences. The chef has designed a very well thought out an creative menu. It felt like a journey though Portugal with each dish connecting to the next. Each dish was well balanced and celebrated a piece of Portuguese cuisine. Truly a memorable experience.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and the owner has a terrible attitude & is unable to accept criticism.
Hello I have visited this establishment twice in the past 4 months. The first time was for my partners birthday in March 2023, i explained in my booking email that it was her birthday as usually at restaurants of this elk they do some form of nice gesture usually a little cake or a similar thing, but this did not happen which was not a major thing, and we enjoyed our food and it was delicious. The second visit was in June and we booked a table for 4 people as our friends like us are very big fine dining people. We arrived and were shown to a table outside on the terrace which was very pleasant but when the sun went down it became a bit chilly and asked to be seated inside which was met with a slight amount of disdain, but we got our table inside. We had started the evening with a round of drinks which were 3 monkey 47 gin's and 1 large bottle of sparkling water, upon ordering the gins we were told that if we wanted another round of that gin there probably won't be enough of that gin left! We were shocked to hear that a Michelin starred restaurant did not have another bottle in stock. We then tried to order another round of drinks which took around 10 minutes for somebody to get round to taking our order and we ordered 3 Monkey 47 gins to be told that there was none left, we them ordered 3 Hendricks which is always served with a slice of cucumber only to be told that they had no cucumber, which again shocked us that they had no cucumber in stock. I was drinking water which was left on a table near our table and i had to get up twice to serve myself water as nobody came to refill my glass. People may think that certain things i have mentioned may seem petty but when you pay good money for fine dining you expect fine dining service. We paid our bill and the owner Mr Noono came over and asked if everything was okay i told him no it was not and he was taken aback and i went through the various things he never offered an apology and said moving tables didn't help and the shortage of staff in the area was also a problem and his attitude was very dismissive. I left it a few days and then i sent them a message on their feedback section on their web site which did not get a reply for around 2 weeks so i emailed them with the same message and a lady rang me and apologised profusely and said someone would get back to me within the next few days. Another couple of weeks went by and they did not contact me so i rang up and spoke to a lady and she again apologised and was surprised that nobody had contacted me and told me that someone would get back to me, 2 days later the lady rang me and told me she had spoken to the owner Mr Noono and he said i could have his number if i wanted to speak to him to discuss the issues i had which i found to be incredibly rude and also very arrogant that he would expect me to ring him to discuss the problems we had in his restaurant! The lady again apologised and i told her it was not her place to apologise. I have spoken to several people over the past 6 months about our experience and the majority of people stated that the owner has a shocking attitude and is fine accepting the plaudits but cannot accept any form of criticism. The week after our second visit to Bonbon we visited Bela Vista at Portimão which also has 1 Michelin star and it was superb just as you would expect from such an establishment, and we visited the same place again yesterday. We have dined in many Michelin starred restaurants throughout the world and we can categorically state that Bonbon has been our worst experience and their customer service regarding complaints is disgracefu.l
Be the first to ReplyLoved every dish
This restaurant restored my faith in rated restaurants. Often they go out on a limb to serve something controversial in order to be noticed. Bon Bon showcases the hero ingredients of the region and the service is without flaw. The BBQ octopus is truly amazing and the mushroom desert at the end is surprising and delectable. I would visit again without hesitation.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic evening at Bon Bon
Thank you for a fabulous evening and meal. From the warmest of welcomes on arrival, excellent service and truly exceptional food and wine the whole evening was wonderful. Not sure what part of the meal was the our favourite as it was all so different with flavours, textures, presentation and imagination - all of which were second to none. We absolutely loved everything. Thank you to the team!!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding - again !
Amazing food, amazing ambiance, fantastic wines and supreme service. An easy 5 star rating for one of the very best restaurants anywhere. We had the 6 course menu plus wine pairing (very much recommended) and it was better than awesome.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing!!!!!
There are underrated 1 stars and over rated two stars, this is two star cooking provided you love seafood. Nuno is simply the best owner, host, friend, an impeccable man who has so much pride in his food. The wine prices would shame any London starred restaurant and the sommelier was out of this world, insights that money can’t buy. Go if you love food, don’t go if you don’t appreciate fine dining. This is 10/10

Be the first to ReplyBest by a mile
Firstly, yes it isn’t cheap , but as they say “you get what you pay for” and this is a Michelin starred restaurant. The staff and the owner Nuno were fantastic couldn’t praise them enough. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and bless him , had to put up with table of red wine drinkers even though we had a lot of fish courses, but he played a blinder! On to the food….I could go on and on about “crispy lattice squid ink” or “ wreckfish Malandrinho” amongst others but there’s no point the Chef did an outstanding job on all the courses. You have to try it to believe it. Don’t hesitate just book Bon Bon you won’t regret it.

Went here for a surprise birthday dinner with my husband and it is one of the BEST meals we've ever had in Portugal. Every single detail was perfect - from the ambience, crockery, service, it's such an absolute pleasure to have a dining experience this outstanding! We had the 9 course tasting menu and every dish was like an explosion of flavours. There were some really playful takes on Portuguese cuisine that we appreciated - some playing on size, some playing with flavours we never thought would go well together. Every single dish was a standout and I can't wait to come back and eat here again. To top it all off, the service was absolutely impeccable and I was treated to a delicious surprise birthday cake and candle at the end. Simply perfection! I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Congrats to the whole team!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed . No notice taken of an allergy notification
We gave the restaurant 2 weeks notice of a garlic allergy which one of our party has. This was acknowledged in advance and on the night. When we arrived the head waiter made much of the fact that they could not guarantee that sauces which take 48 hours to make would be garlic free. Had we not paid a 200 euro deposit we probably would have left at that point.
We chose the 6 course menu rather than the 9 course menu and the same waiter would not let us tell him which three courses we did not want. Instead as the courses arrived we had three fish dishes and only one meat dish. We would not have chosen this . One of the meat dishes was swapped for red mullet which wasn’t on the menu at all. We were not consulted about this. 2 of our party had the wine flight ( which was excellent except that the red wine intended for the meat course was served with the red mullet which was not suitable.)
Surely if the restaurant is serving both 6 and 9 course menus the diner should be able to choose what he or she wants and not have random ingredients imposed without consultation. The waiter said only the kitchen could decide as the balance of the menu was important. How arrogant is that?
Some of the courses were much enjoyed. Some not. When the prices charged are of the order at Bon Bon this is not acceptable. The wine waiter was very good. That could not be said of the head waiter who was uncooperative to the point of arrogance
Amazing vegetarian lunch and great service
I’ve been at Bon Bon for a 4-courses vegetarian lunch and they exceeded my expectations! Quality was absolutely perfect, the service and the ambiance too. We had several extra dishes as homage of the chef and the wine they chose for us was excellent. If you are looking for high-quality food in Algarve, this is the place! Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyEasily our best meal in Carvoeiro
We ate at 2000 on a Friday, on our last night in Carvoeiro. (Fortunately, this meant we wouldn't be comparing other local restaurants to this one as we ate!)
We had the 9 "moments" menu with wine pairing (in actuality, this meant 14 moments/courses). The food was what you hope for and expect when paying this much at a Michelin starred restaurant. The flavors melded and complemented each other throughout--and the wines sang with the food.
Service was impeccable-- including our wine glasses being added to when necessary without asking.
We'd place Bon Bon in the upper tier of the 10 Michelin starred restaurants that we've been lucky enough to sample this trip. Highly recommend, as long as you are comfortable with spending 450+ euro on a dining experience for a couple.
