Overrated and overpriced pho
Understood HK ppl love queuing for everything, but Brass Spoon is just not worth it. Came here for lunch and spent >30 minutes for a seat, which is acceptable for me and the restaurant only has limited capacity (~15ppl max?). Ordered the signature premium raw beef noodle, it tastes average to me, which I expect more with 125hkd per bowl and from Michelin-starred restaurants.

Decided to try out the original Brass Spoon for a decent bowl of pho. It doesnโt surpass Bahn Mi which remains my top choice for Pho, but it does do a better than creditable bowl of Pho. You get a deep tasting satisfying broth and the ingredients are fresh. To my mind you donโt get enough hor fun though. I generally try and finish the broth but after much slurping I still had a third of a bowl of broth left - so deep taste wise as well as in the bowl. It is, however, a pricey bowl of pho. Almost double the price. That said you are paying for the Wan Chai location and you donโt have to march up Aberdeen St and that hill to get it. Service is brisk and efficient in an eatery which seats 21. Be on time to avoid the queue!

This is a small Michelin-recommended Vietnamese eatery at a quiet corner of Wanchai. Brass Spoon only serves beef pho and some snacks. It is not open for dinner and almost impossible to get a table by noon. Seat is cramped and service minimal. The signature beef pho is quite underwhelming. Meat is tender and juicy. Rice noodle is unremarkable and the broth is mild. Price is steep. With some many sound options for pho nearby, this place can be skipped.

I didn't come here for the food - I came earlier this week already - so much as the staff. I tried three other restaurants and in all of them the staff weren't wearing masks. It wouldn't usually bother me but right now, in the current COVID-19 outbreak, I want to see restaurant staff talking my health as seriously as I am asked to take theirs. Brass Spoon's staff all had masks on. The food (cold noodle salad with spring rolls - take out) was great as usual.

Loved the broth and the excellent slices of prime beef. The spring rolls was very good too. Professionally run restaurant with good services. Will definitely return when I come back to visit in the future.

Brass Spoon is a Vietnamese pho specialist with a few branches around the city including this popular joint on Moon Street in the Star Street Precinct in Wanchai. Opening hours are 12 to 7pm daily (closed on Sundays). Simply put - this is an 18-seater noodle bar dishing out pho, vermicelli noodle bowls, spring rolls and a small selection of drinks. Service is quick, food is as good as advertised at this Bib Gourmand recognised restaurant. No reservations accepted and there is often a queue at Brass Spoon. Seats are turned over fairly rapidly so waits shouldn't be too long. There is a simple order card and pencil at all seats. Select you main ingredient for the pho and vermicelli and (+, - or hold) on additional ingredients. Hand your card to wait staff and your orders will be served in a few minutes. Recently tried the pho with cooked beef (HK$82). This is a large and tasty pho. Broth is a good flavour, beef, noodles, greens and other ingredients just fine. Overall, a filling bowl of really good pho. Tried the friend spring rolls (HK$55) as well. These were nicely-fried, crispy and compact. Nice flavour as well, a good complement to the pho. Overall, Brass Spoon is a straightforward concept with really good pho. It is as simple as that. Will gladly return.

Big bowls of pho, crispy spring rolls, delicious grilled meats. This is the kind of Pho you crave every day! Be prepared to wait in line however as this is one popular place. My personal favourite is the crispy spring rolls - the perfect mid pho snack.
