BRÚT Restaurant Reykjavík Reviews from The Last Year
Lovely dinner, we'd go back
Lovely dinner on a Sunday night, the service was super and we had a lovely table by the window. We both had a starter, main and shared a dessert. It was all delicious and we had a couple glasses of wine to go with it. I especially enjoyed the skate, not so common on a menu. Most of the dishes are with fish but there was something for the non-fish eaters. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
The Sunday brunch buffet is spectacular.
Exceptional, original and delicious cuisine. The Sunday brunch buffet is spectacular. My favourite restaurant so far. Its located centrally and has an elegant yet easy going feel.
The restaurant for fish lovers!
Very well prepared food. The selection of starters and main courses is especially something for fish lovers. The dishes are perfectly balanced in terms of taste and presentation. No excessive frills, very authentic and also quite acceptable in terms of price. The wine selection is consistent, something for every taste. The wine recommendation is quite good! Very nice staff, attentive and not pushy. You can see into the kitchen and watch how carefully the crew works. A great experience, highly recommended.
Stars no, applause yes
Michelin recommends, curiosity rules. In the center, not far from the port, there is a restaurant with large windows and silent glances. A long counter with an open kitchen, minimalist furnishings in perfect Nordic style and some dramatic touches at the entrance. The curtain opens and the show begins. Well cooked fish dishes, the flavor of the ocean in all its variations and a lot of courtesy. The sour smell of cooking permeates the clothes, limiting the final charm. The cod cheek is really tender, the prawns excellent despite the bacon. Two à la carte dishes each for a final bill of around eighty euros. Not everything listed on the menu is finally available, and the place doesn't deserve the starry sky. But it still remains of a good standard.
Mhh
We chose to have dinner here on Christmas Eve. The first impression of the restaurant is very pleasant: very bright, the interiors are nicely decorated, the entrance where you can leave the coats and the small welcoming area are very promising. We were disappointed from the paper manu we were given because it did not match with the one published online on the website. None of the starters we booked the restaurant for (octopus and tartare) was available and a smaller selection of mains/differences in the Christmas menu made us feel like we had to go for something different that what we actually wanted. The food we got was good though, the ribeye and the artic char were a good size portion as well, even though the waiting was a bit long. I asked a side for my fish (more than happy to pay for it, I stressed it) to the waitress and I was answered that they 'don't adjust dishes like that': it seemed quite sad of an answer, since later one we found out that a potato pure and cabbage side was to come for free with the mains :/ could do better, sorry 😔
Not too bad
Nice place , nice and simple menu the waiter forgot the drinks menu . The food was ok but not sure it should be in the Michelin guide
A Disappointing meal
Staying in Radisson 1919 which houses this restaurant arrived asked if had a reservation as no shown to a table which even for two was very small - menu in English presented in the main fish ,fish and fish which was fine ordered glasses of wine and lemon Sole - a small bread basket was presented which was tasty and then the fish which is sold to include sides - the sole was fresh if a little undercooked the sides which was one small plate between two was some mash and some sweet potato- disappointing- no lemon offered - as the place got busier the level of service fell away the Dessert trolly was tasty but to try to get a bill took forever and in the end I went to the desk to sign the bill to my room and was told different company need to pay no charges to the room - now given this is the same area the Hotel uses for Breakfast- I was amazed- the meal was not cheap but the is Iceland but the meal was really very average the service poor - the sides were very disappointing and outside on the door it had a Michelin plaque Would not wish to come back
Do not attend if you have allergies! Otherwise good seafood and fish restaurant
Do not attend with allergies! Food was good (tasting menu) however this restaurant is very poor with accommodating allergies. We stated an allergy on booking and this was reconfirmed when we arrived. It was confirmed again when ordering the tasting menu but was still served on one of the courses. A meek apology was offered and a replacement course brought out but meant the two of us ate the main course at different times to each other. The wine paring was nice. If you like seafood and fish it’s a good restaurant but definitely do not go if you have allergies!
Tasting menu not worth
Everything was tasty and presented well, but if you offer a tasting menu offered at most Michelin listed restaurants, the courses aren’t the same as the regular menu offerings. Basically 3x amuse-bouche with an on menu starter and on menu main course.
Best fish we had in Iceland!
We really enjoyed our lunch at Bru. The fish was super fresh and well prepared. It was quiet because we went for a late lunch but the waiter was very friendly and took all the time for us. We wished we could go back for dinner but unfriendly we need to drive to the North. Undoubtedly the best food experience we had in Iceland.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
