I loved ice skating.
I had visited the ice skating rink in Jan but unfortunately I wasn't able to skate be ause it was raining. So I am so happy I was able to come back with my friend to skate. It is kind scary but there are helpers to assist you across the ice. It is an amazing experience and as a fellow NYer, I definitely love being a tourist in my own city.

The Winter Village is adorable, filled with a bunch of cute stands with various market vendors selling food, jewelry, plushies, and many more unique gifts. It's dazzling in the wintertime and surrounded by skyscrapers -- you can even see the Empire State Building! The stores there can be quite expensive (remember we are in Midtown here) but they're cute for window shopping. Ice skating:I wrote an article on my school newspaper all about the rink at Bryant Park, check it out at thesciencesurvey.com and search up ice skating at Bryant Park! The ice skating rink is cool too (literally) and I've skated there multiple times. There's a 55 min time limit, but it's one of the only free ice skating rinks in NYC (if you have your own ice skates), but other than that, ice skate rental prices can skyrocket during peak times/hours. Bryant Park is a wonderful place during the wintertime! I encourage you to visit!

Festive and fun winter experience with ice skating and bumper cars on ice. The ice rink was pretty crowded on a weekend night but still an amazing experience with amazing views of the midtown skyline as a backdrop. - $65 for an hour for two on a weekend night, including a $5 bag check. The bumper cars were so much fun! - $ 20 per person for 10 minutes to bump, spin around in circles, and have laugh out loud fun. We reserved tickets in advance for both ice skating times and bumper cars, and didn't have to wait. A number of food vendor booths are located outside the rink. Even if not skating, Bryant Park Winter Park Village is a must see; so colorful, fun and festive!

So many fun activities and the ice skating rink is a really fun experience. I would recommend being prepared for the crowds and amount of people, but other than that everything is great.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the ice skating rink in particular.
Go to ANY of the other ice skating rinks in the city. The staff and their rules are not customer friendly. As someone who lives in NYC and has tried most of the other rinks, they are all preferable to this place.

He actually put his hands on me and my husband had to rush over and only then did this staff member let go. He then tried to yank my child's penguin out of my hand. He then yelled at his manger and stormed off.

Love this ice skating rink because 1) I'm a Bank of America customer and you get a discount if you buy tickets online using your BOA bank card, 2) But ice skating is FREE if you bring your own skates! 3) On alternating days, they change the direction of skating, one day you're skating clockwise, the next it's counter-clockwise which is great if you want to balance your crossover skills on both legs and 4)) Location, location, location, it's smack dab in the center of the most beautiful part of midtown - Bryant Park - behind the New York Public Library between 5th and 6th Ave on 42nd St. It's especially festive during the holidays with the rink surrounded by all of the holiday food/drink/shopping kiosks. Didn't you watch Amazon Prime's "Something from Tiffany's" movie? What I hate about this ice rink is 1) It seems small for an outdoor rink, like you're skating in a fish bowl, maybe because everyone outside the rink is staring at you, 2) Except for the first FIVE minutes during the earliest (8am) timed session, the rink is ALWAYS treacherously crowded, be prepared to practice defensive skating here and avoid the flailing arms and legs. One night we saw one guy uncontrollably speed by us and slam into a mother and her young child, 3) You can only be inside the area for a 55-min timed session so we saw a few regulars put on and lace up their skates near the entrance before the rink even opened so they wouldn't waste time when their session started, 4) There's really no place to buy and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or hot tea once you're inside the rink resting area, all of the kiosks are outside the rink on the other side of the resting area. Guess they just want you to focus on skating your heart out. We've skated here in the morning, afternoon and evening. Evening was the most crowded. This may be different now that the holidays ended, but do tourists ever stop coming to NYC?You can't beat this rink's FREE entry (if you have your own skates), but the only time to come for that "floating on clouds" ice skating feeling is during the first morning time slot.

We had a good time, was a little disappointed that it wasn't real curling, but we still had fun! The food on the other hand was terrible. The sliders or should I say slider, came with 5 French fries. The cheese " board" was a hunk of Brie, 4 crackers & again a few fries. For the cost of $325 for a curling lane & an igloo for 90 minutes, you would think the food would be a bit better. Staff was great & friendly!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Christmas experience with tons of excellent food
Amazing Christmas experience with tons of excellent food and little shops. The only problem is this year was so incredibly busy with tourists it was impossible to have the tasty food or treats unless you wanted to wait hours and be pushed around. The ice-skating rink is also beautiful and timed.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst skating experience.
Skate time was reduced due to staff reinforcing the ice. Staff were obnoxious and rude. Took a brief break at the benches to wait for my son to finish in the bathroom and was ushered away due to the area suddenly needing to close. The attraction is a high tourist venue and I've witnessed ppl getting dismissed by hostile staff. Once advised to leave the ice staff instructed us to the back benches where everyone was told to grab their belongings and go. Definitely not the skate time as promised in the reservation. Staff scream to exit the establishment as visitors change into their shoes. Would not recommend this attraction in NYC especially if visiting and during special holidays. Lake view prospect park rink will give a much more warm family experience!
