Delicious and Unusual Indian Food
If you want to enjoy Indian food that is not too spicy, you should come here to enjoy it. Not much spice and internationalizing the dish. Service is fast, the restaurant is crowded and always full so make reservations in advance

Situated within the iconic ITC Maurya, Bukhara is celebrated for its rustic North Indian fare cooked in traditional clay ovens. Their signature Dal Bukhara is a vegetarian masterpiece. Slow-cooked black lentils are simmered overnight with tomatoes, garlic, and butter, resulting in a creamy and velvety dal that's rich in flavor and aroma.

I enjoyed the services provided by Mohit and Prashant. They were phenomenal. The meal was good too. Everything went well.

While growing up in Gurgaon, Bukhara was the most sought after of the restaurants in Delhi. Last December, on my visit to Delhi I had the opportunity to eat dinner there after 7-8 years. I must say, I was not disappointed at all . The raan, the daal, the barrah kebab had still the same distinctive taste from before. They were all finger looking good. To me it was still the best Mughlai restaurant in the whole of India.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great but they made us sit on these small chairs im 180cm tall and it was a real bad experience .
The restaurant undoubtedly excelled in delivering exceptional cuisine that tantalized the taste buds with each bite. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, leaving us thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the culinary experience. However, our enjoyment was marred by the inadequate seating arrangements. Instead of providing suitable chairs, the restaurant inexplicably had us sit on small baby stools, which proved to be uncomfortable and impractical for a dining setting. The lack of proper seating detracted from the overall ambiance and made it difficult to fully relax and appreciate the delicious food. Despite the culinary excellence, the discomfort caused by the seating choice left a lasting negative impression on our dining experience.

Trip to India for our 25th Anniversary with our American and Italian friends. Bukhara went out of their way to accommodate our group! Food was outstanding and service was impeccable! We chose to go with the set menu where we were told we could get seconds as needed. There was so much food so we just chose just another portion of the Sikandari Raan which was to die for! As for desserts we did not even have to choose they just piled on all of it as you can see in the pics! Apart from that they brought us a complimentary chocolate cake for our anniversary! Just an overwhelming experience all around!

Bukhara is a highly acclaimed Indian restaurant located in the ITC Maurya hotel in New Delhi. It has been serving authentic tandoor-cooked dishes for over 40 years and is consistently ranked among the best restaurants in the world. The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambience, which is decorated with traditional Indian artwork and artifacts. The tables are close together, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Bukhara's menu features a wide variety of classic Indian dishes, including the signature Dal Bukhara, which is slow-cooked in a clay pot for 24 hours, resulting in a rich and flavorful lentil stew. Dal Bukhara is a slow-cooked lentil stew that is cooked in a clay pot for 24 hours. This results in a rich and flavorful dal that is unlike anything else you will find. The dal is served with a dollop of butter on top, which adds to its richness and creaminess. Butter naan is a soft and fluffy flatbread that is cooked in a tandoor oven. It is brushed with butter after cooking, which gives it a delicious buttery flavor. Butter naan is the perfect accompaniment to Dal Bukhara, as it soaks up all of the rich flavors of the dal. Murgh tandoori is chicken that is marinated in yogurt and spices and then cooked in a tandoor oven. This results in a juicy and flavorful chicken that is charred on the outside and tender on the inside. Overall, it’s a place you must visit this place.

Indeed was considered one of the best in Delhi had a list of regulars who enjoyed the unchanged tasty food BUT from the last two visits the standard has been deteriorated in taste and no check being implemented The chefs should take a serious eye view the signature dishes like Sikander Raan Dal bukhara (over floating with ghee) butter chicken (over sweet) a few mentioned Service is excellent but if food looses its flavour then it is difficult to maintain the top position

Kebabs kebabs kebabs. Prawn, fish, paneer, chicken, meat. Delicious food. And perhaps the yummiest gulabjamon and rasmalai ive had in India. Go early and get a seat with a back as the ones without are not very comfortable.

Must go! May have to spend sometime in waiting though. WORTH THE WAIT. I've been going to Bukhara since my childhood and never been disappointed. I also keep reviewing many properties every now and then with blunt reviews. So believe when I say that it's Good. I must admit that there is generally a waiting time for Bukhara before you may be seated and may range anywhere from 15 mins to an hour thirty. However the wait is worth the time. In the meantime you can always take benefit of the bar @Bukhara. I read a few recent reviews complaining that there are no back seats or that it is overrated or that the menu is on mobile phone however if anyone has been to Bukhara even in 90s then they would realise that only the seats alongside the walls have a back rest and all others are without the back. That is how it is and has been maintaining it since decades. I am not trying to defend Bukhara, however most of the times we as consumers going for the first time have very high expectations and then feel that we have been let down. The quality of the food the service and atmosphere has only increased with time is what I can say. Earlier Chef Purushotam and Chef JP used to lead the kitchen and now from what I know since chef purushotam has retired the baton has been passed on to chef JP and his team. The taste of food has very slightly changed over the years which I did bring to the notice of chef and he promised to look into it. I must say that being a very old patron I could make out the difference but in general no one would know. The service I believe is extraordinary and sometimes the team is so over booked especially in case of a celebrity being present in the premise. In such a scenario also I have never seen or experienced that the service was below standard and when I say standard I mean ITC Maurya Bukhara standard. Still if someone feels that the service is or should be better than what they are currently getting I will strongly recommend to bring this to the notice of the Team Lead or any steward for that matter and you shall get the service experience you deserve. I always like to interact and meet the team of the hotel and the restaurant every time I visit any property and I must thank the duty manager Mr Angad, the front office associate miss Alisha for the warm hospitality, the f & b manager Mr Mohan, the steward on my table Mr paramveer and his team and last but not the least Chef JP and his entire team for cooking such a delicious food including but not limited to paneer tikka, daal Bukhara, tandoori gobhi phool, and breads. It is a combination of all the team members that make the experience pleasurable and enjoyable. If you are five or more people I will recommend you to try Nan Bukhara which is exceptionally large in size and yet very crispy. Being vegetarian i have even more limited options however I never felt the need that something is missing or should have been added. Thanks again to the team for making it a wonderful experience Special thanks to Chef JP F&B Mgr Mohan Duty Manager Angad

Authentic Indian restaurant. Food lovely but overpriced. No booking so had to wait nearly an hour. Probably wouldn’t visit again.

Our table was squashed into a nook by the door, but we were lucky as were given a table that had been set. Other customers had to stare at leftovers for twenty minutes. The seats have no backs and are a perfect height for children (but not western adults). To see the menus, you scan a QR Code with your phone. When it works, that’s sort of okay, but it didn’t, and we had to read the menus from the waiter’s phone. The wine menu is poorly laid out and overpriced and opted for a Kingfisher beer that we learnt was out of stock. To eat, we chose the Fixed Menu A which appeared to be a tasting menu. We realised we had made a mistake when the waiter asked whether we were okay with the food arriving all at once? We said, surely some of the dishes were appetisers. Five minutes later we were presented with two stoneware dishes of lukewarm amorphous lumps of food: vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Our waiter described each object, but we still struggled to tell the dishes apart. With no serving spoons or eating utensils we asked for some bread, and the flat bread and raita that came were highlights of the evening (primarily because they hadn’t been “improved” by the chef). The Tandoor Jhing (prawns) were mutilated mush, the Machali Tikka (some sort of fish) was just nasty. The Tandoori Phool (cauliflower) and Aloo (potato) were lumps of unappetising dough. The Paneer Tikka (cottage cheese) would probably have been acceptable had it been served on its own. Next came the fabled Dal Bukhara: an unappetising gloopy soup topped with a slab of floating butter made baked beans on toast seem like a gourmet delicacy. We pushed the gloop away and were offered a shank of lamb. Sadly, it was so salty we couldn’t eat it. We asked the waiter to try it, but he declined as he was vegetarian. The head waiter understood and took up the matter with the chef, and we watched a kitchen drama being mediated by a restaurant “suit” and about half an hour later another leg of lamb was produced. Whilst tender it was still salty, but we were so ravenous we ate it. We regularly eat out in restaurants and have enjoyed amazing meals throughout Asia. Sadly, the meal is one of the worst we’ve had. Our experience might have been a one off, but there is so much wrong with this restaurant we doubt it. The only reason to recommend the place is the comedic value of experiencing a really bad restaurant.

From the welcome to the service to the taste of the food this was 5 star plus!! Very attentive staff, delivering the tastiest food in a calm professional manner. The level of spice in our food was a major concern from the waiters, to make sure that we would fully enjoy the experience, which added to the whole evening! We ate using no cutlery, as is custom in the restaurant if you desire, which was actually a very pleasant thing to do that we thoroughly enjoyed doing! It’s a must visit while in Delhi. Thank you!

Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed and not worth dinner.
Was recommended and selected for my husbands 76th birthday while we were staying at the Oberoi. The greeting was dismissive and the service was minimal. The food at the Oberoi was much much better. Had been promised a birthday cake but non arrived and we left early. Would not recommend this restaurant.

The food was great and the hospitality was even better. The staff ensured that our special day was made even more special. Everything from starters to desserts was just fantabulous and this goes into my list as one of the best dining experiences.

Waiting time was annoying, I shall agree. However... once you get in, the aroma of food takes over ! The very famous Dal Bukhara is worth the hype, but very overpriced
