Always a good stop for breakfast - if you get there before the crowds. Quick and friendly service.Usual selection of Cuban or Mexican inspired breakfast dishes. Breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, and burritos (note the latter is HUGE). Great selection of coffee drinks.Damages for 4 with tip was $75.

This place is a hidden gem! Their corn is a must try - so so delicious I could literally have 5 of them in one sitting. Also absolutely love el yucateco hot sauces and was so happy to see them here!!
Be the first to ReplyI was excited to find Cuban food in the area.
It was pretty empty when we walked in before 12 pm on Saturday. It got busy after half hour. So mind your timing to dine here. The vibe is nice. It's like a small diner and they play Spanish songs all the time. The lime-lemonade is pretty decent. My friend and I had high expectations on the food but no pleased with the quality. Here are the reasons:- Cuban sandwich (6/10): it is claimed the best in NYC, but my sandwich was not warm enough. As you can see in the pic, the cheese is not even melted yet. It drips a lot. I guess the shop tries to impress customer that the sandwich is very juicy. But it feels like the meat got soaked in the sauce before laying in the sandwich. I definitely had better Cuban sandwich else where in the city. - Roast pork plate (6/10): my friend got this plates. The rice and bean is bland, not flavorful at all.- Grilled corn (4/10): I'm not sure how it supposed to taste like, but I'm not into it and my corn is cold....- Sweet plantain (10/10): I think this side dish is the best one on the table. It's freshly made and sweet but not greasy. A must have option. It seems people have different options based on the reviews I read. Maybe the quality is inconsistent due to the chef's mood (just kidding). I would like to have another try someday and hopefully I would have better experience.

If you like Cuban food then this is a good destination in Brooklyn. Good service, and decent ambiance for a fair price.
Be the first to ReplyIn short, this place was disappointing.
Saved this Cuban-Mexican restaurant for so long as there are more than 2k ratings on Google Map and 3k ratings on Yelp. Their storefront vday decoration was adorable tho. Love the homey vibe of this neighbourhood corner cafe. I ordered two of their most signature dishes with a plethora of good reviews. I might be completely wrong, or simply bc this kind of dishes doesn't suit my tastes, but I really didn't find it life-changing, maybe even unsatisfactory... Plus all their 2-ppl tables were super small. I kept dropping cutlery or lime or my personal belongings due to the narrow seats (given that I visited during non-peak hours). * Cubano Sandwich"Voted best in NYC" - ermmm really? The only thing I liked about this sandwich was the crispy baguette with mustard/mayo. Ham was mediocre and tasted like cheap supermarket ham. Taste of cheese was almost invisible. Shattered pork was bland, tough and reminded me of tuna idk why lol. I poured away all the ham and pork at last and finished the baguette only. Fries on the side were tasteless, probably precooked. Oh and one more point - the sandwich was soaked with meat juice, which made the whole dish soggy and messy...* World Famous CornHad high expectation on this one - it turned out to be underwhelming. There was a stick for you to hold the corn, but DAMN THE STICK WAS FREAKING BROKEN AFTER MY FIRST BITE!! My grilled corn dropped and I had totally no idea how could I bite it without a stick. I used all kinds of methods to devour it, messing up my hair and clothes. No mood to enjoy the highly rated corn.Btw, I had a super small appetite but this was literally the first time I still felt hungry after having a $30 meal after tax and tips in NYC...My Recommendation: Maybe the grilled corn?Worth Returning ? No.Follow @nyc.bgoo on Instagram for more honest food reviews!

Cozy, convenient, delicious!I came in on a rainy Thursday afternoon to grab a late lunch and went with the classic Cuban sandwich that I heard so much about. Cubanos are my favorite sandwich so you could say my standards are high. I was absolutely not disappointed. Every part of this sandwich worked perfectly together. The meat was cooked super well and the cheese was melted perfectly. There was a slight spice to it which was the absolute right about for me. I didn't care for the fries that came with the dish -- I picked at them a little bit but would otherwise recommend Cafe Habana serve less fries with the sandwich. All around amazing experience, and the other customers' food looked just as good!

I've been to Cafe Habana a few years ago and was in the area, so I decided to try it out again! I ordered and shared the 2 Tacos with Rice and Beans (Fish Taco and Chicken Taco), World Famous Grilled Corn, the Cubano Sandwich, and the Sweet Plantains. The corn was delicious as always and is definitely a must get! It's grilled to perfection and the Mayo, cheese, and spice accompanies it so well. The plantains were great as well and had slightly caramelized crust which I loved. The 2 Tacos and Rice and Beans were great as well though I'd opt for two fish tacos or to try the shrimp taco since I thought the chicken one was okay. The Cubano Sandwich was yummy but I do think the other time I had it and at their sister location (Habana To-Go and Outpo was better. The cheese needed to be more melty and I wish I had some more sauce. Other than that thought he most important elements like the pork and crusty bread were great. Overall, if you're craving Cuban food in the Nolita area, this place is definitely worth checking out.

The place smells like shit, the margaritas are pre-made, watered down and costs $11, the inside feels icky, and the outside is no better. I'll never come here again.
Be the first to ReplyFor the food, I would give it 5 stars.
If the boss is reading this review, I recommend changing the staff,I come here from Long Island only to eat corn, this has never happened to me, but today I was quite disappointed and unwilling to tip, the first time I thought this was racism? Or what,From the moment she entered, she had a bad expression and the other servers were also quite unfriendly. When we left time, an employee named Maria was very kind to me, so I wanted to give her a separate tip.Rose and Roslyn? Their service was the first unfriendly experience I had while living in New York, and the next time I come back, I don't want to go in if they're still working here.Ps. You didn't seem unkind to other guests, why did you do that to me and my daughters?
Be the first to ReplyCafe Habana was my go to place pre-pandemic.
I would go out of my way, bring people from out of town all the way down there to enjoy the amazing Cubano sandwiches. So of course, my first weekend back in NYC, I had to go back. I ordered my Cubano, some grilled corn with cojita cheese and grabbed an outdoor table to enjoy the sunshine. I was told that when I was ready to order, to go inside and place my order, no problem. Then I was told that I would have to pay immediately, again a bit weird, but I get it that they don't want people running out on a bill, I even preemptively gave a good tip (unfortunately). We ordered our drinks, and a couple glasses of water. The cans of coke came out quick enough, but no waters. Food came out quick enough, and the server asked if I wanted any ketchup for my fries, I asked for a side of mayo instead. The grilled corn was excellent, as expected (tough to mess that up) and I was so looking forward to this sandwich, but what a disappointment. The meat was very very juicy, but so much so to make the grilled bread soggy, but not in a good way. This itself was surprising, but what was more surprising was how such a small amount of meat could make this mess. Yes, there was very little pulled pork on the sandwich. Seemed like they not only skimped on volume, but overall, it was quite bland. Oh, and I never did get my side of mayo, but the waters did arrive just before we were done. I would be willing to give this place one more try, just because of how good it used to be and hopefully it's just a one time fumble.

Be the first to ReplyReally great Cuban-mexican place downtown.
I heard about Cafe Habana from a few people, and actually tried their ghost kitchen takeout (kitchen united mix) a few weeks ago. The food was good even as takeout, so I was happy to try it out as a dine in experience. The inside is a simple diner style with booths/small tables. We didn't have to wait to get seated early on a weekend and table turnover generally seemed pretty reasonable.I had the corn and a salad with shrimp. I loved the corn, which had the perfect amount of toppings and seasonings. It's a little messy to eat, but there's plenty of napkins for that. My salad felt super fresh and crisp. The tortilla strips mixed in the salad were crunchy and didn't get stale/soggy as I ate. The dressing was a little plain (olive oil?), but tossing some hot sauce on made it even better.Definitely would come back or eat at the ghost kitchen, even if it's just for the corn...

Please do not remove my review as I truly had a poor experience. Yelp users should know that this is a very sub par rendition of real Cuban food. There are many better choices.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite spots for a chill meal and drink in Soho.
Love the laid back vibes, reasonable prices, and of course the Cubano sandwich. If you aren't feeling a sandwich, the marinated pork with rice and beans is also amazing. Honestly sometimes finding a place with a low pretentious factor in soho can be difficult, and this place checks that box.
Be the first to ReplyWalked in on Mon Feb 21 around 1pm.
As soon as we walked in the waitress said in a loud voice she wanted to see vaccination and proof of ID we walked out. That's a no for me. I would never frequent this place ever again.

Cozy spot to grab one of the best Cuban Sandwich (Voted Best in NYC) I've ever had. Cutest decor and friendliest staff. My sandwich came with a side of Cholula, without having to even ask. Even at times when they're packed, they hustle and deliver a great meal. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
Be the first to ReplyI had nothing but a blast at cafe habana.
My girlfriend and I only had to wait about 3 minutes to get seated and were provided service with excellence. The food is the most amazing part about this place though. Just one elote will have you reeling for more. I got the veggie burrito while she had the plantain tacos. And the margaritas hit strong which is just what you need walking through the city. Definitely coming back next visit and be impressed yet again!
Be the first to ReplyOkay simply put.
..this place is wow. Walking in you might have some initial judgments but I promise it will be worth your while. The margaritas were great and strong (which we love) and the food was so fresh and delicious. The corn is a MUST HAVE when you go there (order 2 because it's that good)!! I had the plantain tacos and I was pleasantly surprised at how filling and satisfying they were. Service was great... the staff was smiley and looked like the were enjoying which made the experience that much better. It is a bit smaller than you expect on the inside but I can assure you the wait is quick and well worth your time and money! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back (especially for the corn)
Be the first to ReplyRUN, don't walk to go get an amazing CUBANO sandwich.
The best I've ever had. Perfectly toasted, delicious sauce. My only wish is that there were more pickles on it. I asked for more, but they didn't have them.Incredible corn on the cob. Great music and a happy vibe.I'm thrilled that they actually checked my Vaccination card and ID. Coming from the west coast, all restaurants say vaccination card required, but almost no restaurants ever check!
Be the first to ReplyNot authentic Cuban food.
Also Cuban and Mexican food/culture are not interchangeable.
