We looked around the Back Bay area for a unique, slightly upscale and elegant place for dinner, but something that wasn't stuffy. We thought this would be a great place, but our meals were really disappointing. Service wasn't always on point, either. If I have to ask over and over for something, it's a clear sign that either the staff isn't being hired or trained properly, or there is confusion and chaos elsewhere. Drinks were slow to get to the table, but they did arrive. My friend who is an avid martini drinker, said he was certain that they didn't use the higher end brand of vodka he asked for and the drink was weak. My glass of Pinot Noir was fine, but nothing where I'd order a second glass. Ordered our appetizer course and decided to share the charcuterie board and it was just okay and seemed skimpy. We hoped for better with the entrées. I ordered the shrimp pasta and my friend ordered the steak frites. Both of these were highly disappointing. My pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy and the steak was under cooked in some parts of the meat cut, and over cooked in others. It lacked flavor and looked terrible when presented on the plate. The name of the entrée was also deceiving, because steak frites means literally that you'd get steak with a side of fries. We were charged an extra $7 and our server said "well, you wanted fries so it's extra." (Apparently their version of steak frites means fried onions, not french fries.) Since $7 isn't going to break our budget, we just let it slide, but did send the steak back. We were then told that they wouldn't "remake" the steak because it would probably come out the same way (are you kidding? your chef cannot cook a steak?!) We just ordered a goat cheese salad and the two of us split this and my pasta entrée. Our server brought us out another glass of wine and martini, when we didn't order them, and we basically said unless they were on the house, we didn't order it and were not taking it otherwise. Overall, there are far better places in Boston to eat at and we chose unwisely on this one. We were asked if we wanted dessert, we just advised we wanted our check and to leave as soon as we could. First and last time at this place to be sure. ***The next night in Boston, we went to Davio's and it was amazing. They know how to cook pasta and a steak. So, our reboot went much better!***
