Went to Candlenut for dinner with a large group of colleagues from across Asia-Pac. We had a set menu. The food was overall very delicious. however, I pulled a long black strand of something inedible from my curry. I took it to be human hair because it was black, about 15cm long, was thin like a strand of hair, and was pliable like a strand of hair when I placed it on the small individual menu next to my plate. I have never seen such an ingredient in a curry before, including the curry I make at home or in any restaurant. I couldn’t bring myself to eat the remainder of the curry. When my plate was collected by the wait staff, I pointed out the object and thought nothing of it. I didn’t make a fuss or draw undue attention to the object. But seems the customer was wrong as another waiter brought the object back to me and explained that it was actually a piece of lemongrass. I guess the chef has a particular skill of preparing lemongrass in long thin black strands that look like human hair, are as pliable as human hair, and which are as unpleasant as human hair when found in a curry. Best to check your curry very carefully before eating it at this restaurant…. It may contain long strands of ….lemongrass. Which are inedible. Oh, and the staff think the customers are stupid as well.
