Touristy, potentially grotesque, but not a bad meal here at
Touristy, potentially grotesque, but not a bad meal here at Carmine's. I went to this huge, jam-packed restaurant for a large birthday and ordered a few dishes family style. Being dairy-free, Italian and family style sound like a nightmare combo but I fared well here with some classic pasta and red sauce, garlic bread, and a shrimp app. All of these were pretty good despite the Disney World-like operation needed to feed large, general crowds. The espresso martini was good besides the fact that it was loaded with Baileys, but that's my bad that I didn't specify. Service was pretty decent and lively given the crowded circumstances. Would I come back here? Probably not since I'm not a visitor, part of a school field trip, or any given day's birthday girl, but I wouldn't sigh if I was invited to another event here.

I wish I had remembered to take pictures but I was so distracted by the large amounts of food. Just to inform you, these plates come as FAMILY meals. They could mostly feed around 4-6 people. I had not known this and ordered a ton. Bread is complimentary but I hadn't known and also ordered garlic bread, in which I received 8 large pieces. The place is so unique and spacious on the inside. I would for sure recommend trying if you were in the area with multiple people. The food was so good and service was quick!

I've been to the one in Vegas so I def wanted to come to the one here. The food was amazing! It always is, big portions, great ingredients and the atmosphere at these places is always fun. Well decorated and the staff is always happy with great recommendations. The garlic bread with cheese is great but the portion is large we opted for half garlic bread half with cheese and some other great plates! If you have a big group and want to save some money definitely come here.

We've been going to Carmine's for years, predominantly AC, both also Times Square and upper NY. Since the pandemic we have experienced its decline, and last night in AC was the worst. We order the same thing every time. We started with a cesar salad and the dressing was more like dip. It was so thick I think it was shaken from a bottle. Then we got the chicken scarpariello over rigatoni, which we have been getting for the last 15 years. The few pieces of chicken they served had no meat on them and were over cooked. I think they gave us chicken wings. This was once our favorite restaurant but I'll go to Olive Garden before I go back there.
Be the first to ReplyFood here is made with all the italian love in the world.
Their wings are to die for and don't get me started on the garlic bread. WOW! The servers there are greatly knowledgable and the ambiance within the establishment gives the italian-new york vibe it needs to give. Food portions are HUGE(family style), and their desserts are delicious. Its truly a must when visiting the East-side.

Amazing! My wife and I came here for a dinner date before heading to see Phantom at Majestic theater. It was fun! The food was amazing, the server was great. The ambience was noisy and a bit cramped but for some reason we didn't mind... it felt like a warm, friendly environment. Would Def go back!
Be the first to ReplyI went there for an after work event.
Cesar salad, penne alla vodka, and salmon were all very good! I can't say if I would return as I am from LI and wouldn't go through the hassle. Also the restaurant is completely packed and chaotic. But overall, the food was great.

Carmines was recommended for us to try while in New York, we go out with a big group of people while we're on a work trip so we're lucky we get to try food places. Everything was amazing! The staff was accommodating and friendly while getting our big orders in. Definitely want to come back when I'm back in the city.

Dined here with my mom on March 16th and it was pretty regular. The staff was really unprofessional and didn't really checked on us. I left a really good cash tip and they charged me a xtra tip on my credit card that I never provided. I called management to solve the situation and their answer was that they charge the tax after the transaction. They said they would email me the receipt which never happened. Food was just ok, and don't forget to reject water or you will be charged for just tap water.

Extremely lively and bustling Italian family style restaurant in Times Square with huge portions! Food was absolutely wonderful and plentiful, service was great especially considering how busy it was. ***Reservations heavily recommended***

Went in on a Friday,,, just my daughter and I! Food was good! But would not recommend if it's just 2 persons, or if you are visiting NY and your hotel does not have a microwave! The portions are HUGE I could of feed the whole homeless neighborhood with my leftovers! Wish we had space for dessert but those too were family size!
Be the first to ReplyIf you have a large group craving some good Italian food
If you have a large group craving some good Italian food this is a great place. I have to warn you that the portion is gigantic and meant to be shared with a few folks. For example Tiramisu is a size of a big dish suitable for 4 to 6 people. Every dish is just that big. The chicken we ordered was excellent but then again was too big for 3 of us. I dinged one star as they didn't offer fresh ground pepper. I did ask a waiter and was told they just don't have one.

We've hoped to be able to dine here on past visits but it's always been so busy. We were able to get an Open Table reservation early today for dinne4 which was great.First. The service is exceptional. They're amazing. We didn't realize these meals were "sharable" as the server noted. There are only 2 of us, and we ordered a Caesar salad, meatballs and ravioli. Wow the sheer volume of food is crazy. This meal would have fed 4 or 5 people comfortably. When we were told "shareable" we thought that meant for 2. Absolutely not.Because we are at a hotel we couldn't take any food back with us. Although as we looked around the restaurant there were very few tables of 2 so it seems people are aware of this. The ravioli was creamy and perfect. The pasta, obviously homemade was soft and just the right firmness. Thr meatballs were huge and so tasty. Spicy yet not. The marinara sauce was just the right consistency and the flavors were spot on.Not really a place for 2, unless you have the ability to take food back with you.Other than that, a very special place.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated is the word that comes to mind.
Very average Italian food. We were going to a show at the Majestic Theater just across the street and had an early dinner. Very crowded, but we had a reservation. We were seated in a very crowed section at a table size that would be for 4 and one seat was not even an option as you would not be able to sit with the person behind so close and the other side was a couple right next to us. Feels like they are packing folks in to make up for Covid impact. I had to move the entire table after my wife and daughter got up so I could get out from being blocked in all sides. Server was less than enthusiastic. We ordered Garlic Bread with cheese, chick parm and rigatoni with broccoli with "white sauce". Large potions as expected. The food was served warm at best. The rigatoni was stuck together in big clumps on the plate. I guess they did not get the sauce on it in time to prevent it from sticking together. The red sauce on the parm had very little flavor. Biggest plus was proximity to the theater.

Today is my birthday so of course before the broadway show @ 2pm Carmines was my go to. Absolutely PERFECT as usual, still can't figure out why they are not more expensive....anyway get the Raspberry Lemonade and the vegetarian dish...you can add any protein, I added grilled chicken. Everyone is so polite and kind and friendly from you enter the restaurant you choose your seating you are catered to every step of the way . There's outdoor dining too but I choose indoors. A NYC must visit.
Be the first to ReplyPROS: This place is always my go-to with Italian food.
This is a great option for people that are seeing a show since it's next to it. Prices are great for the size portions you get. Waitress was amazing and the food came out in 5 minutes. CONS: They have a small space in front of the front desk where many people wait to be seated. It becomes a mad house. We had reservations and not only did we have to wait 20 minutes to be seated beyond that time, but they were sitting people that came after us before us. Unprofessional hosts/hostesses OVERALL: Great place to eat, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, but they have to get better with the reservations
Be the first to ReplyWe loved the pasta.
This place is incredible. Food and service is great. Hint: Order food to share, the plates are big!!! Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely amazing experience my first night in the city.
Wine was delicious! And the meatballs were size of my hand. Highly recommend if looking for high quality Italian. Big portions and family style sharing.
Be the first to ReplyGreat, great food.
Portions are huge so typically one entree will feed 3-5 people. Staff was excellent, and the environment was lively. We ended up with a slightly quieter table in the corner which was good for our family. Make reservations in advance if possible. Definitely recommend.

We ate here last week with a 6pm Friday reservation (took us about 15-20 to be seated). Food is HUGE and delicious, definitely better to go with a group of 4+ and split. My husband and I had 2 menu items and couldn't finish it obviously. It was great quality food and our server was super friendly. They definitely cram as many people as possible in the restaurant, so at first it seems overwhelming but when you're at your table it's not bad. We also tried the lemonade which was great.
Be the first to ReplyWent on a Sunday evening for my birthday dinner.
..me and husband took in a Broadway show across the street and didn't even realize how close the restaurant was! We were told to wait by the bar while our table was being prepared. We had a drink and were seated in about 10 mins. Our waitress was amazing, knowledgeable, quick, and courteous. My husband got the salmon platter and I got the bolognese with penne. Baked clams for appetizer, and garlic bread as well. Portion sizes are family style so I definitely had leftovers for lunch tomorrow and the following day! Food was amazing and received a little birthday cheer from the staff!

Welcome to one of the best spots to eat if your in Times Square, the food is out standing, the staff is out of this world amazing and helpful, the portions are incredible so when you see the price it reflects the quality and portion size you are about to receive. I would always recommend a bottle over glass. Mongi. If your from out of town or a local and you have not been here put it on your places to good
Be the first to ReplyI was worried it was a tourist trap and it kinda was.
Reservation was for 6:45, didn't get seated until after 7:30. Had us packed into the bar area like cows. Food was so so and completely unmemorable. Each plate feeds 2-3 so you end up only getting to try 1-2 dishes max.

Carmine's is a great spot for good food and a fun atmosphere. The wait staff was friendly and courteous. The garlic bread was delicious and the chicken parmigiana portion was huge!
