Cho Dang Gol New York Reviews from The Last Year
The experience here was next level.
The fried chicken was delivered with ketchup though, not the homemade sweet chili sauce advertised. We also had the bulgogi hotpot which was delicious if you like sweet food. Some tough pieces experienced. I'm bummed I didn't order the tofu but thought some would come out free as advertised elsewhere. Will probably be back to try tofu.
!!! Probably the best Korean food I had in the US.
I heard from my coworkers that this place is usually packed and people had to wait in lines for tables, and I can confirm that. We were dotted around 5:20, by 5:30, there was already a long line of people waiting. It was amazing to try many of their dishes but my absolute fav was the beef stew plus rice cakes. Service was amazing!

Ok the cod roe omelette was truly divine, I did not know egg could turn into this. The egg had a fluffiness beyond what I've ever seen before. The cod roe inside and green tea mayo on top blended together to create an irresistible burst of flavor, full of umami and creaminess. Absolutely incredible. The sundubu however, it kind of missed. We got 3 sundubus, only the spicy one was decent. The other two were watery and flavorless. The mushroom rice was ok, I do like the mushroom elevation. Will be back to actually try their main dishes and the cod roe omelette again, when I'm ever in the mood to wait 1.5 hours for a table.

Would you like an incredibly delicious, reasonably priced meal ? If you like Korean food, this is your new go-to place. Cho Dang Gol makes its own wonderful tofu -- I converted an "I do not really like tofu" person into a "this is so delicious !" person with just one lunch ! If you arrive as they open at lunch, there will be a line, quickly accommodated and in fifteen minutes, the restaurant will be completely full.......so, what to do ? Well, either line up just before 12, or wait until 1, when the initial rush is over and suddenly the place is empty. I love the small dishes that accompany Korean meals. Know that they differ from day to day, but I loved one so much, they gave me more... So you see, this is a place that will see a lot of me. They are just as nice if you are by yourself, or with friends.

4 of us went to CDG at 6pm and waited about 20 mins for a table on a Tuesday night which wasn't too bad. Great service and decent food. The Seafood & Scallion Pancake was delicious and I really like the Cod Roe Omelet a lot. The Octopus Flavored Rice was a little bland to my liking. Their CDG Seafood Jeongol (Hot Pot) was tasty and definitely can be shared among four people.
CDG doesn't miss.
I could pick something random blindfolded off the menu and I guarantee I'd at least like it, if not love it. There's a reason there are lines outside even during the most off-peak weekday hours, but it's worth it. They also will text you when your table is ready so you can do other things while waiting. I've had a handful of things on their menu by now and enjoyed them all, but the gamjatang I had on my most recent visit would have to be my favorite. Super generous and tender pork with an incredibly flavorful broth that blew us away. We loved the addition of dates that added a comfortingly herbal and sweet touch to the broth. Shout out to the perilla stew also, and their relatively affordable lunch specials. Definitely worth a visit!

one of the most affordable dinners ive had in ktown with great food! the wait was 1.5 hours on the weekend for dinner so would go early to put a name down the cod roe omelette was surprisingly my favorite! would definitely recommend as a dish to share. the galbi jjim was good (4/5) but not the best i've had in NY. both the tofu stews with rice are a great addition, would pick one depending on whether you like spicy or not. and the seafood rice cake came with lots of variety so i would recommend that to share too!

Came here for dinner on a weeknight and put our name down for the waiting list around 5:30. They open again at 5 but when we got there at 5:30 there were already a bunch of parties ahead of us waiting. Definitely try to get here at 5p sharp if you can to avoid the wait. We waited roughly 25 mins which wasn't too bad and we ordered the below. The noodle soup tastes really good and hearty. The seafood pancake was amazing too, albeit a little small considering the price. The restaurant is definitely really loud for dinner so something to keep in mind if you're looking for a more quiet reserved restaurant. Definitely recommend checking out one day if you're in the area.
This place is packed.
Even putting a name down shortly after they open, there was still a 40 minute wait to get in for a table of 5. Our waitress was very friendly. We got served a small bowl of fresh warm soybean curd. While I enjoyed that, I didn't love it in the kimchi soybean curd stew. The highlight was the cod roe omelet. It was so good, we ended up ordering another one. There was a good chunk of cod roe in the middle and the sauce paired perfectly with the fluffy warm omelet. The mushroom rice was very underwhelming. It didn't have that fragrant mushroom smell and it was very bland. It did pair well after adding the bulgolgi hotpot sauce though. The hotpot was very homey, very generic and felt like something I could make at home with just the sliced meat and a bottle of bulgolgi sauce. I'd come back for the cod roe omelet and watching them grind/mill the soybean in the kitchen. That's how you know it's fresh. It's fairly small but they seem to be have a fast turnaround when it comes to bringing out the dishes.
I was curious many people waiting for seat in outside.
So I try dinner in last night. I and friend ordered stews and octopus and meat and mini bossam. Stews were ok nothing special but octopus was so tough and meat quality was not acceptable it's not chewable. And bossam was so dry and no taste. Not recommend this restaurant. So many fine restaurants in 32nd Korean street. Go there.
Korean restaurant
Very busy restaurant can’t book but can join the wait list Food was delicious really excellent choice staff very helpful however we were eating late 9.15 pm and the kitchen closes soon after that Good value
Must go to for Korean food in Ktown NYC@@@@
This was our last night on vacation in NYC. We could not decide on a dinner venue, so my son picked this place. It was AMAZING! We did have to wait an hour, but it was well worth it. They make their own tofu. Every dish we had was very good. Would highly recommend this restaurant for Korean food.
No Wonder There is Always a Line
The wonder if there's always a line.cho dang gol Is known for their soy base dishes and particular to the third tofu and soy sauce. The 4 main dishes looked to be excellent. They have a morning special soup which was excellent. Delish Yakgwa at the end. Will be back
