Ciccio Yountville Reviews from The Last Year
Fantastic food and service.
Excellent food and service. We had the sashimi (yes, Italian sashimi) which was fantastic. Also the chopped salad and a pizza. All the best we’ve ever had. Some signature cocktails and good wine list. Would definitely go again next time we are in Yountville.
My wife and I had dinner earlier tonight.
We shared Sashimi, Caesar Salad, Gnudi, and Black Cod. All were excellent except for the Black Cod which had great flavors but was drowned in oil. Service was excellent although a bit on the fast side. WIth those courses and no desert, we were done in under an hour. Wine prices were on the high side, so we took advantage of the $25 corkage fee. The joint was jumping and quite noisy, but it was still possible to converse. We will definitely return!
Excellent food and service in a casual comfortable homey
Excellent food and service in a casual comfortable homey environment with an open kitchen. The chopped salad is craveable, the pizza crust is amazing. Pastas are fabulous as well!
Update: 14 March.
Yelp has shared that my pictures from the night at Ciccio do not meet Community Guidelines. The establishment must have complained about the truth of the review. The rating has now dropped to 1 star.
Fun food. Rushed service.
Popped in on a chilly evening. No reservations. Quickly seated by the efficient host. Perused the menu. Ordered the excellent Frank’s’ Negroni, Sicilian white wine by the glass and the focaccia. All excellent. The waiter (uninvited) then launched into his recommendations for each course. Rapid fire delivery. He checked back twice to see if we were ready to order. Not yet, we said. We ordered. Loved the breaded pork chop. Very large but delicate, moist and not at all dry. A pleasant surprise. Had the huge Caesar. Messy and crisp but not distinctive. Was not saved by the $18 supplement for anchovies. All in: fun, active, rapid paced and pleasant meal. The overly aggressive waiter spoiled things a bit imposing his recommendations and pushing our pace. Why the rush? We exited the restaurant precisely 60 minutes after arrival. Will probably not return.
Recommended to us by chefs and locals in our culinary
Recommended to us by chefs and locals in our culinary course. Casually elegant Italian where everything went right and I will return. Menu stars included Sicilian Sashimi, Caesar Salad (the bonito is a game changer), Agnolotti (pillows of garnet yam joy!), Potato Pizza with Leek Confit (please sir, can I have some more?!), Vanilla Bean Gelato with wild pine nut oil (unsuspectingly delicious and quite possibly one of the best gelatos I've had outside of Italy). A great, casual Yountville experience that didn't disappoint.
Our family dined here on a very rainy Tuesday night.
We took advantage of the $25, w bottle max corkage fee. First course was EXCELLENT Cesar salad, meatball stuffed peppers and we ordered the gnudi pasta which was light, rich and flavorful. The dinner continued with the potato pizza and white bolognaise special. Both were excellent. All items were served family style. Our server was excellent at recommending the appropriate number of items for our group. The atmosphere is nothing special but the food and service were stellar. I recommend making reservations as even on a rainy February Tuesday night, the place was packed.

Ciccio is over-impressed with their limited menu, mediocre, and overpriced offerings provided by a group that is often not "pleasing-the-customer oriented", but acts as though they can "do no wrong". There are better options in the area.
OMG The Polenta!
The food is fabulous! Most of the time I accept the recommendations and try...it is almost never a mistake and this time was no exception...everything they recommended to us tasted wow! But I couldn't stop eating La Polenta....you can't not try it!

We were on a wine drinking trip in Napa and ended up in Yountville. This place was absolutely to die for! Their pizza's were amazing! We have sausage pizza and tomato pizza (vegetarian) and both were really good. Both pizza had great amount of sauce and they were back to perfection! I highly recommend this place for pizza after wine drinking all day! It was so satisfying.

It was my buddy's first time here at Ciccio and I was as hoping it would live up to my hyping. He's a pretty good cook himself so I know his standards for tasty food is above average. We arrived on time for our reservation and was promptly seated by host. Our server was friendly and explained food is served family style and order is taken all at once. We decided on Focaccia Bread, Chopped Salad,Gnudi, Tomato Pizza, Sour Corn Polenta and Mt Lassen Trout. Yes it's a lot of food ordered but we are two hungry guys who have been looking forward to dinner here all day! Focaccia Bread was so fresh. Chopped Salad was refreshing with lots of flavors to enjoy. The Gnudi was okay probably the least favorite of the night as the other orders clearly had outstanding traits. Tomato Pizza was solid and loved the Stracciatella cheese on top. The side of Polenta was so fresh & yummy. The Mt Lassen Trout was my favorite! It was cooked perfectly and the flavors heavenly. I would order again in a heartbeat. For dessert we split the Italian Hangover Cake which was recommended by our server- it was interesting and delicious at the same time. Overall a great night with tasty food and good company. Ambience is loud & busy (which I don't mind), service was excellent and food sooo good! Cant wait to come back.
A bit of rocky start .
.. 5 pm (first) seating, second group in the door and asked for a booth against the wall (there was at least one set up for a party of 4 already) because 3 of the 4 of us have hearing issues, and it's an extremely loud space. Instead, we were sat near a table of 8. When I asked the hostess why we weren't able to sit at the booth behind our table with a 4 top set up, she repeatedly mentioned large parties and not be able to move her book ... when I pointed out there was a 4 top behind us in a booth she repeated she wasn't able to move her book ... I tried a different approach ... are the booths reserved, such that I can request one next time when making a reservation? You can request them, but they aren't guaranteed ... I asked her whether someone else had reserved the booth behind us and she said no. So, I still don't understand why we couldn't be seated at the booth. It was an unheated discussion, just trying to understand the restaurant's policies ... still don't understand. Our server mentioned several times the chef prefers to take all orders at the same time, and then the meal will be coursed and served family style. No problem - though, none of us wanted to share entrees. While ordering, our friend was told the kitchen would not remove the skin from the trout. Shortly thereafter, a man, who may be the manager, came by and stood behind me and my friend and spoke down to us asking "is everything okay miss"? If you're going to speak with patrons (particularly if you feel there may be a service issue), stand at the side of the table (as the servers do) and look them in the eye/face when addressing them. It was extremely rude and condescending, and mildly aggressive. We ordered the meatball stuffed peppers and the burrata (which does not come with anything so we ordered the focaccia to go with). The same man delivered our appetizers and said "I don't know if you know what you're doing, but these two appetizers compliment each other well due to the flavors and texture". My husband remarked ... "oh good, condescension as well." Noting the complimentary nature of the food is always welcomed, referencing whether we knew what we were doing is not. Both appetizers were very good. The peppers could have had the skin removed, but were perfectly cooked to al dente and the meatballs and sauce were flavorful and well cooked. ... chili crisp a nice addition. The burrata and focaccia were also delicious - the focaccia looks like a cake because it's quite tall, but it's super airy with a crunchy crust. All were perfectly seasoned. Our friends ordered the Mt. Lassen trout and loved it ... perfectly cooked and seasoned with a pine nuts scallion relish. My husband's gnudi cacio e pepe was not good ... mostly flavorless ricotta and flour balls (too large). You could taste the flour, and very little pepper. My white bolognese was pretty good - sauce made with creme fraiche, kale, and chive oil. A little rich. Fazzoletti was perfect thickness and perfectly cooked. I think I like red bolognese sauce better. After a bit of rough start with service, we settled in, and the food, overall, was good. We did have difficulty hearing each other due to the noise. And, on our way out, there were actually 3 booths with parties of 4 ... still mystified why we were not seated there :)

We went as a group of 8 in late december and had a great meal. We tasted a lot of different things and i wish i had taken notes. As a vegetarian I loved the gnudi and honeynut squash pizza. the carnivores at the table split the fancy steak and said it was very good.
I was excited to try Ciccio since the new ownership.
It was disappointing. The Cacio Pepe isn't the same. Now, instead of linguini, it's overly rich ricotta stuffed doughy balls Very little pepper flavor. I asked the server if they had any pasta- no being her answer. Only to them find out that they had a special of Buccatini and black truffle. She forgot to tell us. Maybe next time will be better. Very loud!! Couldn't hear across the table.
Great place
If you are in the area this is a fantastic meal option. It is really buzzy has really great pizza and wonderful salads. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to all friends and family who visit.
Very Noisy
This has to be the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. The waiter even had to shout when he told us about the specials. The food is good but not that many options. It is served in large portions so that it can be shared. As a Napa resident, I know there are many better options for Italian-style food.
GO!! THE BEST!!
I’ll never be able to eat Italian food ever again unless it’s here. The most incredible pizza and pasta my husband and I have ever had. Bravo! Such a cute, quaint vibe as well. Amazing wines.
Family style at Ciccio?
First the downsides. It was hot, crowded, very small and noisy. The place is family style so the food comes out in no particular order which is fine unless three things come out at once. And some dishes seem better suited to one person if you’re hungry. Also a reservation is a must. No way you are walking in and eating here. The pros? The food is delicious. We had sole, bavette steak, Caesar salad, meatball stuffed peppers and a white bolognese pasta. We were told the menu is constantly changing so while all our dishes were excellent , they may not be available for someone else. Service was friendly and perhaps a bit too fast.
BEST meal in Napa!
Best meal in Napa! Atmosphere, service and food…spectacular! Cocktails, Caesar salad, pork Milanese and pizza delish! Gelato the perfect ending!
It’s ok
Average food We were there on recommendation I don’t think I will ever crave this It’s not bad but not great Tomato pizza has blob of cheese on it that’s placed after it cooks Bucatini was so-so Not coming back unless my arm is twisted
Innovative menu family friendly.
We were a couple at a 2 top on a Sunday in June. It wasn’t too loud and the team was excellent. Gnudi /grilled olives/ tomato pizza all excellent. Surprising they use small glasses for red wine ? Highly recommend they are finding the groove and it’s a good one.
Good food overcome by rigid sets of rules
Four of us who live in Yountville were eager to experience the "new" Ciccio Restaurant since it reopened a month ago under Christopher Kostow's helm. There was a lot of buzz about this restaurant, which was previously quite popular here. Upon entering, the look was pleasant and bright, a cheery upgrade and better table layout than in the past. No longer large "group" tables. The place was busy and LOUD. The first thing we found out was that we could not order in stages (Rule #1). We were also told that item portions were meant to be shared family style. We had to know everything we wanted and the kitchen would course it out for us. So, it took a while to put the entire list together. We had heard from other locals that a few items were "dry" (the chicken, the bucatini and the pork chop), so we stayed away from those. Normally, we like to order things at our own pace to control the speed of delivery and because we don't always know portion sizes or when we will have had enough. As we feared, the 4 items we ordered under the appetizer section basically all came at once. We wanted a lot of small plates and no mains (entrees). That really doesn't fly here, as we were told that the chef wants the items served according to their groupings (appetizers, then pastas, then pizzas, then mains) (Rule #2). All 4 appetizers were very good. The focaccia was unusual in a good way - a large round crispy loaf with flavor. The grilled olives were also unique - small green pitted mild olives in some tasty oil. The shaved mortadella and Caesar salad were also very good. Everything was a hit. Then we received our 2 pasta dishes (theoretically our entrees). The gnudi was out of this world! We were fighting to see how we would divide up the 7 gnudi balls among the 4 of us. The other pasta was the mezzelune, kind of a pork pot sticker-looking item. It was also something everyone wanted (another debate over dividing the 6 raviolis by 4). We had now been there 50 minutes, which is a short period of time for dinner out. The speed with which food came to the table sent a message that they wanted to turn tables and get people out (we commented to our server about this). We then asked whether we could now order a pizza (a possible violation of Rule #1). Yes, this was OK. So we ordered the tomato (Margherita style) pizza. You can add anchovies, but only 2 of us wanted them, so we asked that the anchovies be placed on half of the pizza. This level of customization is not allowed - either anchovies on all or none of the pizza (Rule #3). We ended up ordering the anchovies on all and moving them to the side that wanted them. Lastly, we ordered decaf lattes. We discovered that they do not serve decaf espresso (Rule #4), so were unable to have them at all. In summary, the food is very good, the service was very good, but the restaurant is very noisy and the rigidity and inflexibility ruined the experience. We felt that the customer's needs took a back seat to the interests of the restaurant. Given all the other great restaurants locally that seem more customer-friendly, we will not be going back.

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
