I went to this establishment with my family to hear the the band band. I give them four stars. Really good music! The place is really pretty and seating is close to the stage. We arrived early to have dinner. Big mistake! We ordered pizzas, burgers and the feta cheese appetizer. The pizza wasn't bad, but certainly not made from scratch. The burgers came out almost raw, even though we ordered medium. One was sent back and never came out again. The other two were partially eaten and pretty bad. The appetizer came out after dinner after numerous requests. No water refills, no inquiries from the waiter as to how our food was or if we wanted anything else. The highlight was the white wine we got. We will probably go back, but have dinner somewhere else.

I was looking forward to visiting this modern venue since they amazing artists coming to perform. My view from my table was pretty close to the front, but I will say that the tables were way too too close to one another. It felt cramped and there was no privacy between tables. I ordered the cocktail of the day and although it looked fantastic, it tasted like a syrupy mess with no flavor. I usually don't complain about cocktails, but I needed to send the drink back to the bar. My drink was replaced with a mule which tasted fine. The venue itself was great for an r&b concert and I enjoyed my show.

After all the negative reviews, we were expecting chaos and bad service, but we had the total opposite experience! Were there for a comedy show and got all our food and drinks right away and were checked on by the very helpful wait staff. Food and drinks were much better than I would have expected for a place ostensibly not focused on food. I wish they had a few healthier options (more like burgers and lots of fried options), but all was pretty good for that sort of thing. I will go back again!

this delightful venue for singer-songwriter concerts and comedy events is poisoned by abominable 'customer service', an attractive but lame and infuriating prank of a non-utilitarian website, and drunk on its incessantly annoying carnival-barking attempts to lure concert ticket buyers into joining miscellaneous wine clubs.....my girlfriend and i have made dozens of attempts in the past week to purchase tickets for two different upcoming events, only to encounter breathtaking time-wasting glitches and alleged 'server errors' which prevented the completion of our task...our efforts were made from different computers, different phones, and, with different credit cards--all resulting in the same quicksand pit of dizzying annoyance and inexplicable failure....this establishment is its own worst enemy--shrugging out a deceptively polite voice mail message about reaching their box office and/or leaving a message, rendered impossible as their mailbox is routinely full and humans never seem to intervene to assist....city bufffonery might be a better-suited name for this slick scene--maybe their constant trolling to suck music lovers into their wine world contemplates that getting new yorkers drunk will obviate the need to operate civilly and sanely, let alone practically and purposefully....they also try to separate customers from their money, as if not charging enough with preposterous ticket 'fees' of around 20%, by splattering their online ticket completion page with offers to 'protect' your tickets against a host of entertainment calamities which might arise by paying them yet another 23 bucks for their idiotic insurance/reassurance....these characters must think they're an airline with this gimmick, and any venue purportedly selling seats which makes ticketmaster look professional is in big trouble....the thought that spending hours visiting their actual box office would be faster than placing an online order is pathetic, not passing any straight-face test for a reputable, conscientious, caring entertainment forum....the bottom line is these are not smooth operators, and they sure ain't The Bottom Line, rest in peace......city winery needs considerable refinery, as knowing the price of everything while forgetting the value of everything is a recipe for alienating potential customers and eventual demise....right now they are on 11th avenue--if they keep not doing what they're not doing, if they keep rolling boulders in the path of the most basic ticket/customer service protocols, it won't be long before they move a bit further west, sinking unceremoniously on 13th avenue....mark

Don't bring out something that's the drink equivalent of a bite-size Snickers bar. It's really disgraceful. I'm reminded of why I hated it here the last time. But I get to see Beth Nielsen Chapman tonight!

This place makes so much money that they don't have to treat anyone well because they can afford to lose any individual customer and it doesn't really affect their bottom line.Had this happen a couple times now.First, I had a reservation for a large party that they cancelled the day before because an even larger party booked them (it's a business, I get it.)Last night we came to see a specific comedian who was listed on the line-up, checked in by name for that specific comedians show, and didn't find out until the last comedian was not them that they weren't even going to be performing. No one even acknowledged that the comedian wasn't there.

What a great time!I wanted to have a weekend brunch with my wife and saw City Winery was having a Beatlemania Sunday Brunch? I bought two tickets and headed to the west side. This neighborhood has really changed, its very family friendly with lots of fun things to do. On Sunday I was able to find street parking (which is a miracle) and walk to the venue. Any City Winery is a feast for the eyes. The interior design is wine forward, wine barrels and wood throughout. What make the west side location more delicious is the water views. My wife and I were seated at a table close to the stage. This is a very large venue, the stage can easily host a Jazz Quartet. The four beatlemania guys rocked and our table had a commanding view.I purchased a bottomless drink package, the alcohol provided was weak sauce. I mean, I like a mimosa but after 2 of them I wasn't feeling too buzzy. The Strawberry Fields Wine was syrupy sweet, I would have liked to drink a nice red and not purchase this drink package. Next time! The food at the Sunday brunch was also Meh. It was standard fare, French Toast, bacon and eggs in warming tins. I picked at some of the items, I left hangry. The music! Man, did we have a good time. Dancing, singing and all around good vibes.I had some Valentine Lovin'!City Winery, thanks for a good time. Cheers!
Be the first to ReplyMy first time at the new City Winery space.
I was here for a hard hat tour right before the pandemic. The company I work for had a fundraiser here. Their signature wine is decent for new wine. I'd come back to see a concert while having dinner.
Be the first to ReplyFood (3/5): Food here is average.
Tried the charcuterie plate, truffle fries, and ahi tuna burger. Charcuterie plate and fries were good but the Ahi Tuna burger was subpar. It came with a weird side of fried crackers that tasted totally bland and the Ahi Tuna tasted not fresh and was weirdly cooked with not good seasoning. Ambiance (5/5): Beautiful venue in on the waterfront with huge amount of space, wine displays, wine barrels, and amazing views of the water. Probably the best aspect about this place.Service (5/5): Service was quite good with them frequently checking up on us, efficiently taking orders from our large group, getting food and drinks out fast, and frequently refilling water.
Be the first to ReplyWent to City Winery last night to see John Waters speak.
The venue very interesting and the show was enjoyable. However, I'd think twice about coming back to see another show here. The service was not great. We arrived an hour before the show and were seated promptly. My wife asked the server a question about the white wines available. The server basically said she didn't know anything about the wines... at City Winery. We then ordered a food. The kung pao cauliflower, fries and pizza. Much to our surprise the pizza arrived within seconds. Like, immediately. Way too fast. Like, we were just taking our first sips of our drinks. We were not expecting to have what we considered the main item arrive before the sharing plates and within 3 minutes of ordering. If I had to guess, I'd say that pizza was pre-fired and waiting someone to order it to go immediately. Too soon. We were just gettig settled in. The pizza itself was unremarkable. Eventually the fries & cauliflower arrived as well. The fries are served in a mini-fryer basket that is a fun look but really just exposes the fries to heat loss on all sides, so they were cold very quickly. The fries also appeared to have almost no seasoning. The cauliflower was ok but al-dente. Our server never returned to ask us how our food was or if we wanted more drinks. She did ask the people at our table how their food was but not if they wanted anything else. We eventually flagged her down for another round. A wine & a beer. The drinks came 5-10 minutes apart despite being about 10 feet from the bar. Everything felt very disjointed. Our tablemates, who we did not know, got their meals that they ordered and were the exact same thing 10-15 minutes apart. One other oddity is that during the big pre-show crush for the women's room, my wife reported that several of the female staff were also in line for the same bathroom as showtime drew near, adding to the crazy line. Seemed like odd timing. I know, if you gotta go, you gotta go but is that the best bathroom for the staff to be using in the rush? In general, the show was fine, but the service & food quality left a lot of be desired. I may have gotten better service at Medieval Times. At least they refilled my flagon of Pepsi quickly.

awkward vibe, Not organized, not very warm, staff seem undertrained and disinterested in customers. Food is meh at best.halibut was served way undercooked, was sent back. fries were soggy and limp water never refilled unless you asked barely checked back for drink refills.

It's weird that a fancy (and kind of pricey) place serves such greasy food. I got the kung pao cauliflower, and it was more oil than cauliflower. Disappointing! And I was there for an event that cost $30 at the door ($25 with lots of upselling opportunities and a $4.75 service fee if you ordered in advance). Lol.
Be the first to ReplyDécor was good.
Wine was good. Food was good. Service was good. The band was good. The acoustics were good.My only real complaint: Only one urinal and one stall in the Men's Room. So after the show, the line is quite long and slow.
Be the first to ReplyGreat show, lousy venue.
Haven't been to City Winery since it was located on Varick. This new location is in walking distance from our apartment - I had high hopes! The show took place in the loft. Tables and seats were so close together that it was almost impossible to fit, and difficult to move once seated. One bathroom located outside the venue in the hallway - getting up to use it mid-show was quite a production. If our small plate was any indication, you don't come here for the food. I expected a full wine list - there were five to choose from. Happily, the Syrah we ordered was inoffensive. Sound quality was poor, and the musicians had to keep asking the sound check guy to adjust - they didn't get it right until halfway through the show. Service was on point, with servers working hard to get people seated and set up with food and wine, even though they could barely squeeze through. Maybe a show on the main level would be more comfortable?
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely terrible experience.
We were sat down to a half empty dining area where there were crumbs on literally every seat. They clearly didn't clean the table either. My wife and I ordered two flights and fries. The flights were okay enough, but nothing special. There's better wine just a few blocks away. The fries? Clearly microwaved and half burnt. All of this was about $70, which is expected given the location. You do get a fairly nice view of the Hudson. But when the bill came, two other items were listed for $140. I think a change over happened as we suddenly had a new waitress. She actually argued with my wife that was our bill when there was only a single plate on our table, even when we pointed that out to her. While the waitress goes to the POS system to check on the table order, I went to the restroom. While I was gone, a host came to our table, forced my wife to leave and sat another couple there even though we'd been there less than a hour, our drinks were still on the table and our jackets still on the back of the chairs. We were furious. This place is a disorganized, disgusting mess. We told someone at the front about what happened and left. Stay away.

Music was great, hummus was disgusting, Kale Caesar was inedible. Great French fries. Beers came warm, server did put ice on them and get us new ones. But for the prices just expect more.

Came for a 9:00 pm Saturday night event, only to learn it had moved to City Vineyard. The security guard claimed an e-mail notice had been sent two weeks prior about the change of venue (which I did not find) plus the concierge reminder e-mail I got on Wednesday (three days prior) still listed the address as City Winery. I got a Lyft and arrived "on time" only to find the main event was soon ending. The concierge e-mail listed the time of the 9:00 pm "meet and greet" when the actual event started at 7:30 pm! Granted, I went back and opened the original ticket e-mail fromNovember (three months ago) and it showed a start time of 7:30, so that was my fault, but I'd rather have had the correct venue and time communicated in the concierge e-mail. Also, I was able to walk in to City Vineyard with no one checking my ticket or vaccination card? Very nice set-up (first time there) and had a nice Cabernet.

Saw the Strawberry Field Beatles show last Sunday and the entire experience was wonderful! The venue, the food & drinks, and the show were amazing! Our servers, Brooks & Maya, were absolutely the best! Courteous, friendly, and attentive to my wife and I the entire time! Can't wait to go back!

I never leave reviews (truly have only left 2 in 10+ years) but I was excited to go here because I've heard great things in the past. We had no view, given we're all the way on 11th Ave. Worse, the food was cold and not very good. The cauliflower was solid inside with a crispy outside, instead of crunchy. The risotto balls were not great and again cold. For $20 per item, to have cold food that are only apps?! The flatbread, with hot honey and sausage, cold. The wine flights were fine. Service was fine. Just very disappointing to have cold food at that high a price. Trekking all the way over there is not worth it.

So this past weekend we met friends out for dinner and they chose city winery...and what a huge letdown it was! Snack Bar level food at best. Save your money and do yourself a favor, I live in NYC, go anywhere else the food will be better than this place. $22.00 for a Sausage and Broccoli Rabe flatbread pizza that wasn't Flatbread first of all, then it had about $1.00 worth of toppings. Almost as awful as the dried out, flavorless Rice balls. If you must dine here stick to the basics, like a Cheeseburger and Fries, you know, items any snack bar couldn't screw up. Disappointed...

So the ambiance is beautiful, surrounded by oak barrels and a beautiful table setting and views of the Hudson. STUNNING!FOOD - I have to agree with some of the former reviews, the food is OK. They ran out of hangar steak. Instead were served a hamburger , the French fries were burnt and so was the bacon, totally unimpressed and how do you get a hamburger and French fries wrong? And the key lime pie , please don't get it. And it's a shame the beautiful show and ambiance suffer for the poorly prepared dishes.SHOW- The show was amazing, Brian McKnight performed , a perfect show. Entertaining, engaging and even tear jerking at times. I will say they need to work on the customer service of the hostess staff. I asked a simple question about the pre-ordered wine at my table, her response not my job. Go find the waitress for your table, I can't help you with that !!and abruptly walks away with an attitude. When you invest a so much for the performance plus dinner , you really expect a enhance , elevated quality of service and that wasn't it. So Brian and the venue are beautiful but the service and food quality left much to be desired . Better management, better food, better staff training, will help hopefully ! But honestly if you. eat before you go and get wine and a show instead , you might be better off., my recommendation.
