Perfect
Now it’s my one of the favourite restaurants. Always welcoming, fantastic food, ambiance. And literally 5 minutes from our office. Just PERFECT!

We had the most wonderful evening here last night in the private dining room. Faultless service (a huge thank you to the amazing Suleyman and to Alexander also). Fabulous food - so delicious. Portion sizes spot on. The whole evening was PERFECT and there was nothing I would’ve changed. A huge thank you to the whole team.
Be the first to ReplyVery much worth a return visit.
Our first visit in decades! Why? From superb reception to superb food and service. Enchanting atmosphere. Amazing interesting duck. Not silly prices. Good value for money. Truly a happy gastronomic experience.
Be the first to ReplyMAIN MEAL FISH & VEGETABLES VERY SMALL PORTION
An elegant restaurant with conservative atmosphere. The main disappointment was the lemon sole main meal. Only half of a sole was served which I doubt met standards on weight portion. The vegetables were limited and the carrots were undercooked. Even though I had a starter and a dessert, I was left feeling somewhat hungry. All enjoyable but did not measure up to Clarke's costing of a 3 course meal.
Be the first to ReplySteak as touch as rubber. Overpriced
I had dinner here a few months ago with some family and friends. The food is not cheap, so one would expect a certain level. Sadly many of us had steaks, and most had the same issue, the meat was so tough. Nobody complained at the time, as the meal was paid for by a kind family member, and the occasion meant it was not appropriate to mention to the person. However the issue was mentioned a day or two later to the venue, and they did not seem to believe our words. The service charge was refunded in the end, but the whole occasion was spoiled...and we still paid full price on the meals. No real apology was ever made. I would strongly advise against eating here.
Be the first to ReplyMajor Disappointment
Our booking was for 6.15pm and we arrived a few minutes early. The restaurant comprises an ante room just inside the entrance where there are a few tables and the main room to the left of this. When we arrived there was only one other table occupied and that was in the main room. We were shown to a table in the ante room initially and because the main room looked more inviting we asked to be seated there. This request was just about tolerated and we were shown to a table just beside where the serving staff enter the dining room from the kitchen - so a heavily trafficked location. Given that all other tables except one were free we asked for one of the other available tables. This request was acceded to with poor grace. So before the meal commenced we felt unwanted and uncomfortable. We've had the good fortune to have had a few meals in The Ledbury pre-Covid and level of hospitality we experienced there was exceptional. The contrast in the level of hospitality we experienced in Clarke's, even before we had a look at the menu, could not have been greater. Unfortunately matters did not improve with the food. My main course of halibut lacked flavour while my partner's chicken dish was reasonable. I had blackberries, rasberries and figs for dessert and that was exactly what I received - just the fruit on a plate, nothing else. The meal in general was extremely poor value for the prices charged. The quality of service, while attentive, can only be described as poor - dishes were served and plates removed in silence, no interaction to speak of. The only staff member who displayed any warmth was the most senior waiter who, when we mentioned our disappointment with our experience, did express regret. We did notice during the meal when the restaurant began to fill up that a lot of the guests seemed to be regulars and they were warmly received. It would seem that if you are not a regular here you do not merit

A warm welcome from the eponymous owner set the tone for such a happy dinner. Tables are not shoved together. The staff are thoughtful and gentle. The menu was not lengthy but offered an intriguing array of seasonal dishes. The wine list is intelligent and fairly priced with modest bottles as well as Mouton 2006 at £1,500. I yearn for Le Caprice and Bibendum before it was ‘ transformed’ ( sic). This was as good as it gets and I immediately booked a table for December when i got home. So professional but charming not clinical.

I hop into this restaurant by chance after shopping around Nottinghill. I did not notice it was a michelin restaurant until I wrote the review and it really justify the reputation. I took a 3 courses lunch. The salad is just amazing! Crispy greens, fresh apricots, caramelized walnuts, cottage cheese. The taste, texture and flavor of all ingredients compliment each other. Simple yet complex that demonstrated the true essence of farm to table dishes. The main course - pan fried chicken with grilled sweet corns and spinach was very nicely done as well. The dessert apple pie was chunky, puffy, soft and very fulfilling. Service was top notch.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely excellent - lived up to it's reputation.
As a fan of Sally Clarke's books and approach to food, I've wanted to go to Clarke's for a long time A real treat, the cooking was perfect, service excellent and there was enough mid-range wine to choose from (for those not wanting to spend 100s on wine!)
Be the first to ReplyOver priced & under seasoned. Very disappointing
Clarke’s used to be brilliant - delicious, interesting, fresh flavours & well worth the price. We’ve been twice since lockdown and both times it’s been really disappointing. The dining room is a wonderful space but the food is under-seasoned to the point of blandness - yet the prices are sky high. I had a peach & burrata salad that honestly tasted of nothing, followed by a very ordinary pesto pasta. Pudding was a bowl of strawberries & cherries over ice (which meant they were too cold to taste of anything much). I don’t know if the chef has changed but it’s now way too expensive for the very ordinary food it serves.
Be the first to ReplyAn outstanding evening's private dining for a 60th birthday
I know this will sound overblown, but our evening at Clarke's was, quite simply, perfect. From the moment we booked some nine months ago nothing was too much trouble through the whole planning process. The family party included some people with special requirements, and Clarke's accommodated everything without fail and with grace. The evening began with a wonderful greeting at the door, which made everyone feel truly welcome. We had been given the Garden Room which looked delightful, the ambiance and appointments were perfect. The food was perfect for our party, and some of the guests commented that they felt that portion size was extremely well judged, so no one felt either hungry or outfaced by the whole meal. But the most perfect thing of all was the service. The evening was a 60th birthday celebration for my husband, and I was anxious lest everything be not perfect, but i had no need to worry. The carefulness and kindness over every detail meant that this was an evening that everyone who was present will long remember. Huge thanks to Sally (who was there) and her staff for a perfect celebration evening.
Be the first to ReplyIt is always a safe choice
This restaurant is always a safe choice: outstanding quality of the ingredients, elegant environment, super caring service. Especially the Italian maitre, he is adorable! It is perfect for a family lunch or a romantic dinner.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic all round
We were a table of 8 on a Saturday night and the restaurant was buzzing yet extremely cosy. Service was impeccable, we didn’t need to wait to order nor wait for food nor ask for refills etc., the staff looked after us beautifully.
Food was delicious and we stayed until they closed - such a fabulous night. Thank you Clarke’s - a rare gem to tick the service/food/ambiance boxes in London!
Good food but a little too she she for me
Dinner here is good. The food is well prepared and delivered with style. Good selection. Very expensive. Not sure two Scottish scallops with vegetables are worth 40ish GBP.
Be the first to ReplyGood
this is the most wonderful foody place to vist.from the white table clothes, howard hodgin orginal paintings on the walls,to even sajjy welcoming guests herself
but a good rather then perfection on a plate, this time
possiably just the seasonal influx of custimers
or more to the point
sadly not every dish simply cant be word perfect
maybe suppliers,staffing iuuses,via covid,brexit?have effected the rtham,ryham of clarkes
but its still a worth while treat
one possiably taken less often
in the hope
perfectiin on a plate dose arrive every time
OK food.... but
Live nearby, always avoided the daily menu till the Ala carte came, so decided to give it a go, we had the duck breast was ok, the veal was very good, halibut ok, service was unattended, We had a dinner for four spent £395 for one cocktail, one red wine, starters were to overprice for the portions, given, unremarkable main dishes, a dessert was hmm, so if we had better service, a larger table not fit for 4 people, not so overpriced would have given a better review
Be the first to ReplyExcellent as always
Excellent as always . Had a delicious family dinner here. Wonderful selection of choices - between us we had the Scottish girolles , the taglioni pesto , the tuna tartare ; followed by the veal chop , the halibut , the sea bass and the duck breast. The only dish I could find fault with was my niece’s pesto where the pasta was too soft . Good wine list though like most restaurants rather pricey .
This is the first time I have sat in the back room and in future I would always request the front room which has more ambience . However we had a lovely evening and I would not hesitate to come back on my next visit.
Rather underwhelmed
We'd seen Sally Clarke on James Martin's Saturday Kitchen, so decided to book a table for dinner as part of a post lockdown trip to London. It is an attractive restaurant internally, and we were warmly welcomed. When we were presented with the menus, our waiter immediately tried to sell us some specials; fair enough, but my wife, who is generally a vegetarian but eats fish soon discovered there was no vegetarian choice for main course on the menu. She questioned the waiter, who suggested a lovely plate of grilled vegetables! She eventually chose fish, while I chose breast of duck.
I'm finding it quite difficult to express our view of this place, because I'm wondering if we must be missing something. The food was just not exceptional; perhaps being from Devon we have different expectations but for £223 for two which included a reasonable half litre of Fleurie we expected much more of a tasting experience, instead, to be honest, we found it rather bland, and rather disappointing. It wasn't memorable for the right reasons, and the whole three course experience was over in just over one hour twenty minutes!
Perhaps it was just us - the place was full, with tables being used for a second time, and maybe this is what you get in Kensington, but we've had far better meals locally - for a recent example, by John Hooker at the Cornish Arms, Tavistock - another guest of James Martin. Exceptional, and about half the price.
Poor value for money - very expensive for average quality
We had a dinner for four and spent GBP 420 for 4 cocktails, 4 unremarkable main dishes, 2 glasses of average red wine and 2 poor desserts, with an enormous disconnect between the price and the quantity and quality of the food.
The veal chop was very good, but the Dover sole was chewy and savourless, the brim was average and the deer was two tasty but miniscule slices (60 grams overall probably) over a bed of wet spinach. The zabaglione cake was particularly disappointing, as it was tasteless and was served in two layers of spongy sweet bread, so different from a good zabaglione.
Even the red wine, Massolino, is not to be recommended.
Service was impeccable, but what we were offered is a long way from a GBP 100 per person dinner.
Disappointing.
Always excellent
Looking forward to having a meal against Sally’s food is always of the highest standard with a great atmosphere of calm and great service
Be the first to ReplyLovey evening before lockdown.
We ate here last Saturday and had a lovely evening. I use the shop every week but haven’t eaten in the restaurant for ages. The new layout and spaced out tables made it feel very safe and is very comfortable. Service throughout the meal was excellent, professional, knowledgeable but still very personable.
We had crab and tuna for starters they were fresh and good portion size. We shared the Rhug estate chicken with black truffle which was delicious. The only small negative was the puddings were not quite up the standard of the starters or mains amd found the choice limiting. As others have mentioned it is not a cheap experience but the quality of the ingredients is extremely high. Thank you we had a lovely evening.
