Great oyster!
Mostly a good experience. Fun decor. Attentive and quality service. Raw and baked oysters were great. I really liked the linguine with clams, my wife did not. The snapper and trout entrees were good (but literally forgettable). I might return.

This is the best restaurant in every aspect, if you like seafood it is definitely the place to be. Best food, freshest seafood, amazing service. Just great. 😊 You have to go when visiting Aspen.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect New Year’s Day lunch
Stopped here while shopping in Aspen - didn’t have a reservation but managed to get seated at the bar. Atmosphere was great, very busy and we probably wouldn’t have got a table if we had arrived half an hour later. Great wine list. Delicious bowl of chilli. Very happy to have found it!

Very good food. Service too. Arrived just after 1:pm. There was no wait for a table. Started with a wedge salad, which had pork belly. WalkIng distace to hotels, shops, ski lift.

We had not researched lunch spots and just popped into Clarkes on the off chance the had a table. We were seated immediately, delicious fresh sourdough to nibble on and the best crab cake my husband had ever had. I ordered the clam linguine which was truly excellent. Lots of families and couples eating so a good buzz. Would recommend.

I'm a retired hotelier with 40 years experience in luxury hotels and am shocked at our experience. The attitude of our server ("Dale F" according to the credit card receipt) was a combination of resentful and indifferent. We didn't do anything to provoke such an attitude and it made no sense to us that she would act in such a manner. We spent over $500 for dinner and did not receive as much as a thank you. All dishes very tasty and well prepared. Clams with linguini, crab cakes, swordfish, wedge salad, shrimp Louie, chowder and oysters were all very good. Drinks way over priced. Least expensive cab by the glass was $30! Management ought to take a look at that. Lots of very good places with excellent service in Aspen. We won't be returning to Clarke's.
Be the first to ReplyGo for the Food, not the Cocktails!
Would have given a higher rating to this quaint restaurant, but would give them 1-star on our martinis and how they handled our feedback. For a $22 drink, this restaurant served what I would call the "kids menu" of cocktails. Very measly pour on all three of our martinis. When we commented to staff, they said "we have had other complaints, but that is how management does it". Then, a manager came by to explain our exact 3 oz. pour (half the glass), not in any way to apologize or make it right. Don't you love it when you give feedback and you are told how wrong you are?!! Ambiance was nice, a bit dark. Lobster roll was large and delicious. My octopus was good, though salty. Asparagus very generous and tasty, nicely prepared with sardines. Salads were shareable and fresh. My advice -- go here for the food and SKIP the overpriced, underserved cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyClarks hit the spot!
After a day exploring the town and hiking through some trails up the mountain. Clarks hit the spot! My overall experience was a 9/10 and will definitely be back. The atmosphere is great and met this nice couple at the bar. We stat at a high top table for lunch and ordered oysters, a cup of New England clam chowder and split the burger. The oysters were tasty and the perfect size. Next the clam chowder was flavorful and came with a size of oyster crackers the chowder was filling and perfect temperature. The burger was a good choice to split after the oysters and the clam chowder. We finished our late lunch around 4:45pm and chatted with some people at the bar. It definitely starts to get busy right around 5pm recommend making reservations ahead of time.
Be the first to ReplySo glad we stopped in for lunch
We walking the street looking for a lunch place when we happened upon Clark's. Oh, what a lucky break. Gabriel helped us pick out some oysters, chowder was delicious, and the octopus was spectacular. We sat outside and people/dog watched while sipping a first-class cocktail. Great find on our first trip to Aspen.
Be the first to ReplyClarks in Aspen is a must visit !
Last meal of a wonderful 10 day driving trip and it was the best meal by far. We both had fish which were excellent. And app was an amazing steak tar tar. Only criticism was the signature shoe string fries. Almost impossible to eat since they are so thin and crispy. Mentioned to waitress. She said they do get a lot of complaints about that but it’s signature side of Clark’s so not changing. But a small blemish on an otherwise wonderful meal.
Be the first to ReplyWe always enjoy Clark's Oyster Bar!
We always enjoy Clark's Oyster Bar. The clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, crab Mac and cheese, hamburgers and clam linguine are our favorites. It has an airy, modern, New England atmosphere with the high quality seafood to back it up. Service is always friendly and attentive too.

Went back to Clark’s and it was fantastic again. Honored reservation to the minute. Service was perfect from wait staff to bus service. Grilled Octopus, Bib Salad great appetizers. Lobster Roll, Branzino and Crispy Snapper were fantastic. As prices go in Aspen fairly priced.

Simply outstanding. You have mastered your culinary art. I am speechless about your restaurant. My husband and I travel all over the world and meet amazing people and eat amazing food. The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was perfection. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary in Aspen... the same place we celebrated our honeymoon and we could not have been more happy. Rachelle was our server and was outstanding. Sweet, kind, knowledgeable and fast! We ended up going everyday we were there for lunch. The oysters were incredibly delicious and fresh. Her recommendations were spot on every time! The ceviche was out of this world. The wine selection was perfection. THANK YOU for the blessing of your staff members and your exquisite cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Vibe and Excellent Food and Service
The vibe in this restaurant is upbeat and festive. The food was delicious-had mussels and cioppino and both were excellent. Sat by the fireplace which was very romantic. Good people watching.
Be the first to ReplyHave you ever tasted Mediterranean Branzino?
Clark's Oyster Bar in Aspen came with a hearty endorsement but my wife and I took a pass on the house's two prime specialties, oysters and caviar. Truth be told, the next time I indulge in oysters or caviar at a restaurant, it will be a first. Instead, we opted for two of our favorites, Mediterranean Branzino and New Bedford scallops. I was introduced to Branzino at a restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, a few years ago. Since then, I order the delicious sea bass every time it appears on a menu. Clark's Oyster Bar really hit the spot. Located at 517 East Hyman Road, this chic neighborhood eatery with a great raw bar opened in 2018 and has been a popular lunch and dinner destination ever since. Open from 11:30 to 9:30 daily, it specializes in house baked sourdough, lobster rolls and fresh fish. Especially Branzino. We started with jumbo shrimp cocktail with horseradish, a bowl of New England clam chowder with bacon and Clark's Wedge salad with Nieman Ranch bacon lardons, hardboiled farm egg, red onion, buttermilk dressing and three jumbo cocktail shrimp. For her entree, my wife chose pan seared New Bedford sea scallops with roasted cauliflower and shoestring potatoes with rosemary and garlic. I couldn't wait for my grilled whole Mediterranean Branzino to arrive at our table with marbled potatoes with chimichurri and grilled Tuscan kale with parmesan. The dessert menu was a treat, too. We finally agreed to share a key lime tart with blueberry compote and a chocolate mousse parfeit.

This was one of the few restaurants we went to on our Aspen trip and we loved it. Delicious fresh oysters. The bread with butter and sea salt was phenomenal. Would love to go here again!
Be the first to Reply“Special” buyer beware!
Oysters were fresh and excellent, especially the way they were presented by the waitress. We had a mix of East and west coast oysters. My husband and I each had a glass of their daily special white wine. A bottle of this wine retails for $22. However, when we got our bill for the special of the day wine each glass cost $25. So 6 oysters , 2 glasses of wine and excellent sour dough bread came to $100.
Be the first to ReplyIf you really like oysters....
Consistently the best oysters outside of the California coast or Clark's sister restaurant in Austin. If you live in New Mexico, it is worth the drive across Independence Pass to come here for the oysters and the well thought out menu of fresh seafood/sashimi/comfort food. Other highlights - the linguine in clam sauce and....the burger and shoestring fries. We eat here 3 out of 4 days when visiting Aspen. Those oysters....

A very lively, but quaint place! Service was spot-on. Good selection on spirits! The tuna dish was outstanding. Great food and value in Aspen.

Great martinis and burgers for our party o four. Nice service, too. It was really loud so conversation was difficult.
Be the first to ReplyDon't waste your time here
Woah, the people who run this restaurant lack the most basic business sense, and it's really unfortunate in the already low-margin restaurant business. We showed up on a Saturday night without a reservation (not high season, fwiw) - half of the restaurant was EMPTY, including both tables and bar seats, yet they said they were fully booked for the night. Couldn't put us on a waitlist, and said their kitchen was under staffed. C'mon, a Sat night, your place is only half occupied, and somehow you couldn't seat people who walk in, and can only serve them drinks but not food, AND takeout is not an option?
The future of the restaurant business is omni-channel (esp after the pandemic), yet this place is probably like 0.000001 channel at this point. I swear that DMV workers are more efficient than this restaurant being able to turn tables and generate sales. What a mess - they need to revamp their business or their revenues are going straight to hell.
Fun and delicious in Aspen
Fun atmosphere with good music, competent service and excellent food…super fresh produce, fish and meat…absolutely adore this place!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent spot for a seafood lunch
My wife and I recently stopped in at Clark’s Oyster Bar for lunch on a Friday afternoon, and it was a really pleasant overall experience, with great food in a nice atmosphere.
We arrived for lunch around 1:00 pm, and it was busy at the time. We were told that we could find seats at the bar or wait around 20 minutes for a table, so we put in our name and left to walk around the area a little bit while waiting for a text message to let us know our table was ready.
Our table was ready in exactly the quoted 20-minute timeframe, and we were seated promptly when we got back to the restaurant. The outside of the restaurant looks like a really cute little cabin, while the inside is bright and airy, with a sort of simple, toned-down nautical look. The vibe is energetic and a little loud, but perfect for a casual lunch. I also liked that the tables weren’t ridiculously close together. We could actually enjoy our lunch and conversation without feeling like we were part of the groups on either side of us.
I thought they had a pretty nice wine list with some good options by the glass. My wife started with a glass of Sancerre, while I had a glass of champagne. We also split a bunch of oysters to start, which are definitely on the pricey side at $4.50 per oyster. However, I like that there were both East and West Coast selections and that they were served with a nice mignonette, cocktail sauce, and freshly shaved horseradish, which was a treat.
After the oysters, my wife just had a bowl of the clam chowder, while I had the shrimp scampi. Our server offered to upgrade my shrimp scampi to add pasta for $10 more, but I just wanted something light, so I declined adding the pasta. The shrimp scampi came with five pieces of shrimp in a hot cast iron pan, and it was really good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a good flavor with a good mix of spices. It probably wouldn’t have been enough for a dinner, but it was great for lunch along with the oysters. My wife also really enjoyed the clam chowder, which I also tried and loved. I would really like to come back we’re hungrier to try even more of the items on their menu, since they have all kinds of seafood options that sound appealing.
We definitely loved our lunch at Clark’s in Aspen, and will definitely be back on future trips. The quality of the food was great, they had nice drink options. The overall ambiance was perfect for a cozy lunch on a winter day.
Awful Service
Was excited to try this restaurant based off of the glowing reviews, but was highly disappointed. We should have known it was going to be bad from the beginning after it took over 10 minutes for the waitress to introduce herself and when she finally came she was had a total attitude. From there it continued to go downhill. We had to continually call our waitress when we needed something and she never followed up on our questions. The horrible service ruined our entire meal. When u are charging the prices that we paid you would expect half way decent service. Would definitely not recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous every time!
This is probably our fifth dining experience at Clark’s, generally for lunch or brunch. As always, we just had a fantastic experience all around with the food, service and environment. I would recommend dining inside as it’s a very special decor, but they’re outside tables lining the sidewalk are also comfortable and nicely shaded. Don’t miss the bread service as it’s fantastic, and you’ll be tempted to ask for a second, but hold out for the great meals. I ordered a Ahi tuna sandwich substituting salad instead of fries, and the waiter recommend that I just order a bib salad and add tuna to it, And I’m glad I did! It was very generous in portion size and absolutely delicious with flavor and freshness. My wife and niece also loved what they ordered, which were the BLT sandwiches. Everything we’ve had on the menu has been fantastic and it’s a must do for us every time we visit Aspen.
