Clover Hill Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year

Dined here for my birthday in November and was one of the most memorable dinners I've ever had! I was intrigued to try this place and thrilled to meet the chef, Charlie as he's the only Black Michelin starred chef in New York City! This guy is making history and will be following his journey. I had the 12-course chef's tasting menu paired with a tasty Sauvignon Blanc that the sommelier had recommended after looking over the list of pairings. The food was amazing--10/10! My favorite was the duck as it just melted in my mouth and left me feeling like the happiest person in the world, no joke! The ambiance was everything!--10/10. The small quaint restaurant is very intimate and perfect for a date night. The music was fitting and even the bathroom was so cute with burning candles! We sat at the bar which had a view of the chef and his crew preparing the sophisticated dishes of the night. It was great! The service was exceptional--10/10. The waiters that would bring out the tastings were knowledgeable about each tasting and described and answered questions effectively about the dishes. The waiter and sommelier were engaging and very knowledgeable as well. I'd love to try this restaurant again when back visiting New York City. Can't wait to try the chef's newest tasting either!

Total the best amazing atmosphere phenomenal chef dish is to die for a must. My waitress was fantastic. Very knowledgeable of all the ingredients, spices and seasonings. I love the decoration and the food was absolutely wonderful.

I came here with my fiancΓ©e during the week for his birthday and this place is worth the hype! The atmosphere is top notch: warm, welcoming and intimate. This is a perfect date night spot or for just catching up with someone you haven't seen in a while. The service is attentive without being overbearing and everyone is just generally so pleasant. For the main course, I stuck with the duck while my fiancΓ©e had the Kobe steak. Both were perfectly executed. Although, be warned that the Kobe steak portion is small! I would welcome the opportunity to dine here again; although, my bank account would not!

Before typing, I was struggling to decide on "excellent," "outstanding" or "amazing." I took Husband here for his birthday last night, and it was incredible (there's another synonym for ya). Clover Hill was the first Michelin star restaurant I've ever been to. And when judges, particularly on Netflix's "Five Star Chef" talked about taking journeys as they travelled with food in their mouth, I had no idea what they were talking about...until last night. I'll stop writing. Here are some pictures.
Wednesday Jazz Night At The Clover Club
The Clover Club was good in making reservations in advance of our arrival for a Wednesday night. Jazz night. Menu was fun with small sides to order, and the drinks were nicely described to entice one to adventure in. Jazz later was enjoyable. Service was very good. We tried to keep our focus on Brooklyn this visit and we were very happy to find the Clover Club and jazz to boot.
Excellent tasting food and nice presentation.
It really does deserve its Michelin star recognition. Must try!
Had a wonderful birthday dinner here last weekend.
The restaurant is small but very cozy and inviting. Service was good throughout the night and the food was delicious. My favorite dishes were the tuna and the Wagyu (literally the softest bite I've ever had).

The food and atmosphere (including the playlist) were lovely. Chef Charlie Mitchell is a G, Black Excellence. My favorite items were the tuna in tomato water and the duck. Would note the beverage menu & charging for all water makes it feel priced more like a 2-star than a 1. I ended up doing the standard pairing, which had some truly amazing selections and I would highly recommend. My husband did individual cocktails and one wine by the glass. He found it a bit tough ordering a cocktail completely blind to the evening's menu (e.g. his coffee Negroni was delicious on its own, but overpowered the delicacy of his welcome bites and first course). They do give an individualized printed menu to each patron at the end. Service was mostly 5-stars, except one thing -- at the start of the meal we were asked if we were coming in to celebrate anything, we mentioned it was our fifth wedding anniversary, she said congratulations, yadda yadda. My husband also noted this when he booked. During the meal we saw at least 5 tables (that's basically half the restaurant, mind you) get a special extra dessert with a candle (presumably a birthday). At the end of our meal, our server wished me a happy birthday and wonderful evening... I didn't correct her, but if you thought it was my birthday instead of our anniversary, shouldn't we have received the same special dessert instead of nothing for our occasion? I know it's silly, but for a Michelin level restaurant, it was an off putting end to the night.
Absolute amazing
Visited the clover club after seeing the owner in a Netflix competition show. The bar isnβt large but comfortably appointed. The staff is super friendly and helpful. After going of the menu they suggested some nice other cocktails. Though not cheap, the food offering is great and very tasty. We actually were so happy after our visit we returned a few days later and once again, great cocktails, great service and lovely food. A true hidden gem in Brooklyn, would recommend to any and everyone!

- 10 star experience - very expensive - staff treats you like gold - some of the best champagne I'v ever had - dinner took a little over two hours - all the food was amazing - parking is not good - They are not so kind with canceling reservations, so make sure you are absolutely going - I love the low key, but posh atmosphere - people were wearing all kinds of clothing, thee environment is very unpretentious - rnb soundtrack was cool

I don't usually write reviews so this will probably go completely unnoticed, but this is an honest account of our experience at Clover Hill. We looked forward to supporting a local business offering fine dining in Brooklyn Heights, a lovely neighborhood with notoriously few good restaurants - certainly none earning a Michelin star. We thought that this would be a special meal to celebrate a birthday, and they reached out in advance to try to accommodate a dietary restriction. Great start! The first surprising disappointment was that the only non-alcoholic beverage on offer was water with lemon or lime. What? The first two one-bite courses were exceptional and beautifully presented, but the rest of the meal was underwhelming at best. Perhaps it was an off night, but the menu was 100% proteins - crab, scallop, fish, fish, more fish with caviar, fatty pork belly, Squab, not one vegetable course or accompaniment. We ordered the rib eye as a supplement (a substitute, not addition to) the Squab, which was 1.5x1.5 inches, extremely salty, and as we discovered when the bill arrived, $95. A huge ribeye at the very best steakhouses in NYC does not cost $95. Absurd. 11 Madison Park (3-stars) and Saga (2-stars) were both far superior fine dining experiences in every way in comparison to our disappointing evening at 1-star and comparatively priced Clover Hill. Congratulations on your star, but after this experience it's hard to imagine that you will deserve one next year, and we won't be back for the next course.
Cocktail Paradise
I am never disappointed when I swing by here for a drink! Great friendly service accompanied by a always delicious cocktail. Shut out to the bartender lady - sorry was forgot her name.
Amazing food, fantastic service, and an amazing vibe.
They welcome any and everyone to enjoy an amazing well planned menu. You can feel how much effort they put into everything. It's pricy, but worth every penny.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
