Phenomenal Tasting Experience
If you are even somewhat adventurous Asian cuisine "junkies" then you must check this place out. Not only is the chef incredibly talented and creative, but the service was attentive and they really cared that we were enjoying the food and the experience. They will tailor the tasting menu to your preferences, and of course you don't have to do the tasting menu. Our two favorite dishes were the "whole" fried fish and the Burmese tofu. Thank you Jeff and Trevor for this very special restaurant.

This is a high energy place with great servers and a creative chef. When we told our server we were visting foodies from out of town, he sent over the chef. We chatted with him for 10 minutes about the Toronto restaurant scene and the restaurant business. For a tiny dish, the Smoked Trout Pomelo Betel Leaf had so much going for itself, the freshness of the betel leaf, some crunchiness, and a sort of Vietnamese, sort of Thai taste profile. We also ordered the Burmese Tofu and the Smokey Pea Dumplings as well as the trout, all great choices. We decided to order everything from the ample menu but there were at least a half dozen specials that we easily would have liked to have tried had we been part of a larger party. A Manhattan made with Nikko Japanese whisky and tobacco flavored bitters gave the cocktail a deep smokey yummy taste I wish I could reproduce.

Really a remarkable experience. Food was delicious and diverse. We opted for the chef’s choice and were enthralled with the selections. Not inexpensive but we’ll worth it. Good sized portions and a total of seven courses. Room is busy but booth seating dulls the noise level. Friendly and helpful staff were quick to offer suggestions. It focuses on Asian selections with a continental twist. Lovely meal.

Visited DaiLo twice in one week; both times on a Sunday evening. The first we opted for the a la carte and it was delicious. Our waiter, Shannon, was patient, attentive, and gave in depth descriptions of each dish we selected. The pork and prawn wonton and the lamb rendeng were highlights. It was booked for a birthday and we received a couple surprises because of that which was much appreciated.
On our second visit, which was a spontaneous walk-in, we opted for the Chef Selection at $76pp. In my opinion, you definitely get your money's worth. We basically got every other dish on the menu that we hadnt ordered the first time. Shannon was our waiter again so made sure to tell the chef not to double up on what we had previously. At one point, we thought one of the courses was our last, but then out came the platter of ribeye and truffle fried rice. We couldn't believe it. The steak was incredible!
Absolutely loved everything both visits, and can't wait to return!
Strong Tasting Menu, but a Little Pricey
This was a great tasting menu, but a little expensive. Courses like the fried rice or simple vegetables were a bit lacking given the price point. That said, the phenomenal trout, ribs, etc . . . mostly made up for it.

DaiLo is a must try for any foodie in Toronto!
My partner and I made a reservation for a casual date night having heard that this is a great restaurant but didn't expect to leave as amazed as we did.
The staff members are incredibly knowledgeable, and take turns to ensure no one is left unattended.
We opted for the ~$70 tasting menu hearing that they are uniquely customized to each patron - and for a moment there didn't fully believe it. 6 courses and however many dishes later, we're stuffed and somewhat in disbelief that we hadn't been to DaiLo until today.
Highly recommended - a total gem exhibiting Toronto's diversity through culinary freedom.
Great food, but getting too pricey
My husband and I went on a Sat for dinner (the 8pm seating) with another couple. The service was excellent, as was the food. I love eating food that's interesting and I would never prepare at home. However, it was so noisy in the restaurant that it was difficult to hear our servers, and we had to practically shout to hear one-another at the table. (Common in many restaurants, but totally unnecessary. Not sure why management doesn't consider some noise attenuation.) Also, we were quite surprised when the bill arrived. It turned out that some dishes on the "sharing" part of the menu were for only one or two people, so if you wanted to "share," you had to order 2, or - in the case of the betel leaf, 4 - of the same dish. It had been too noisy for us to understand this. 5 'sharing' dishes, 2 mains, 1 bottle of wine, 1 dessert, and 2 drinks came to approximately $440.

I came here as a guest so I didn't see the pricing for per person for the tasting menu where they give you 8 tasting dishes featuring duck, beef, lamb, rice and vegetarian dishes. Food was interesting and delicious! The service was outstanding. The portions were small, but with 8 dishes coming out, it was more than enough per person. My only complaint was the noise level. You could not hear your dinner companions because the noise level was unbearable.

Such a great place for get together and sharing plates. Had the compressed watermelon and the whole fish. It was incredible ! Definitely want to come back next time I’m in town.
