Dakar NOLA New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Exceptional, upscale, seafood forward, multicourse fusion of New Orleans and West African cuisines
Exceptional, multicourse, seafood forward, upscale cuisine in smaller portions, exquisitely, prepared and seasoned. Exceptionally affable and professional staff in an attractive dining room within a traditional New Orleans house. The shrimp and vegetables and rice throughout the meal were brilliantly done.

Not only delicious and unique, but really educational and meaningful. The Staff makes it special with their warmth and expertise and the chef comes out to introduce a dish and he is pure light. Highly recommend.
Wow, Just Wow.
I totally understand why this is one of the hardest reservations to get in New Orleans. Being from this Great City there are so many choices you can make with food and all of these choices are top notch, but Dakar set a standard that is both unique and Different from the typical choices that you get here. First the Communal style sharing a table with complete strangers is one the coolest things ive ever experienced. Chatting and drinking on the chefs choices were just something that stood out. The starter French champagne with simple syrup was delicious. All of the wait staff was very attentive and offered so many different options for what was expected the different dishes to come. I order the wine pairing which fit perfectly with all of the dishes that were served. We started with a dish that the chef admitted that he just invented the day of and it was delicious and I wish I could remember the name of it. The spin on shrimp and grits were good and so was his spin on red beans and rice. The fish was fresh and the pecan pie was different but good. I totally loved the owners speech welcoming us into this home and explaining his background and the personal touch of spending time at each table was a treat. I will definitely come back and visit.
Phenomenal experience.
The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The Chef and his creations were incredible. Highly recommend this restaurant. We're in New Orleans 3-4x per year. We will be here for each visit. Thank you Chef Serigne Mbaye.
Warm hospitality and creative cuisine
Dining at Dakar NOLA was a very special experience. The food, inspired by traditional Senegalese cuisine, was unique and creative but also felt like comfort food. The chef came out into the dining room and explained the inspiration for the various dishes. He and his business partner welcomed us with such warm hospitality that it felt like going to a friend’s home for dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant!
We were so glad we did not allow the few negative reviews
We were so glad we did not allow the few negative reviews we saw prior to the visit change our decision to enjoy this tasting experience for our anniversary. From the ambiance, to the service and food, everthing was top tier. Some of the dishes even took me back to fond memories from my childhood. If you are planning to go to New Orleans, do yourself a favor and include Dakar to your reservations list. Your time with Chef Serigne Mbaye, Effie and the rest of the staff will definitely be one of the highlights to your visit.
I can't get enough of this experience so to the point we
I can't get enough of this experience so to the point we have booked another night with more girlfriends this time. The food the atmosphere was truly amazing. Such a home experience with all the explanations of each dish. Seven course meal in a communal environment. The staff was awesome and it was a super nice touch with the chef and co-owner floating around.
A real treat! All the hype/plaudits WELL deserved!
Chef Serigne Mbaye offers a modern Senegalese tasting menu that is rich, fish-forward, full of flavor and truly memorable. Never had Senegalese? Neither had I until I took a chance and wound up with a unique foodie experience thanks to the team at Dakar NOLA. It’s hard to single out a favorite dish because they were each so good. The wine pairing was worth the added charge and the service was top notch! As the Michelin would way “high quality cooking,” “worth a stop.”
MUST VISIT!!
BOOK EARLY ON REZY!! This is a must for foodies!! The staff, food and entire experience is wonderful. Little details about eating in Senegal are added with table hand washing before the meal. The meal is set course and only based on freshest produce available. Picky eaters do not apply - no adjustments are made - and for great reasons! Each dish has a story and the staff and menu detail them for you. One of co-owners will come out and describe where they got the ingredients and why they use what they use. The chef hits every table as well. This was lovely. I will return and refer everyone here!!! Great food and people!!
We just ate at Eater's number one new restaurant in New
We just ate at Eater's number one new restaurant in New Orleans, Dakar. It's Senegalese. Yeah I really did say Senegalese. The chef here has cooked in some of the best kitchens here in NOLA and elsewhere. He masterfully crafts incredible food through several courses that are delicious and mind-blowing. I could talk about each dish one by one, but this night was about something else. Funny thing about food, it is about so much more than calories and taste. Don't get me wrong, I eat because I am food obsessed, and the flavors are super important to me. Food is about people, history, culture, tradition, location, and even climate. People bring not only their food staples with them when they move (OR are moved) to far flung regions, their culture comes too, as does their history. Take okra for example. It most likely originated in West Africa and was called gombo. It was brought over to America by slaves, as was the other vital part of the dish, rice. Many of the slaves were brought to America through the ports of New Orleans. Here it became the centerpiece of the food we know as gumbo. Serigne Mbaye, you just fed this white guy with the very same (or similar) food that Africans ate as they last laid eyes on their home continent and land, and were to be sold? You humbled me......you made me understand through food how no other human being ever has. You have a gift! I commented to you tonight to never stop giving a talk during the meal like you delivered at tonight's. Wow! I who have lived in this country of my birth have never understood the plight of those misplaced, taken, or forced from their homelands. I who don't really belong here (in the new world), understood through food this idea, this emotion, this feeling of being misplaced. Being where you should not be. Native Americans belong here in America not Europeans. What the hell.........food? It transcends everything and brings understanding to those still without it, and sight to those like me who are blind. Gut punch. I happen to think that Dakar is an essential dining location for everyone. The food is unbelievable but there is a story to be told here too. Maybe one person in a hundred people will get out of it what I did this very night. I hope for far more though, I truly do. Go with an empty stomach, and an open mind. See what happens! If for no other reason, go for a good meal. I am putting away the soapbox. Dine well.
Bravo! I was finally able to try this place.
A group of us did the 3 courses on Wednesdays. We wanted to test the waters a bit before diving into the 7 courses. Service was excellent! Our hostess kept our glasses filled and was knowledgeable about the menu. The decor was nice and I enjoyed how small and quaint the dining area is. I enjoyed everything we ate. They started us with the cutest, tastiest little biscuits. The courses were salad, Fish and dessert. The fish came with a few sauces that ranged in heat. The chef definitely has mastered cooking fish. Flaky and moist. Looking forward to the u courses.
Wow, what an amazing dining experience we had!
Wow, what an amazing dining experience we had! Exceptional! This restaurant made our anniversary trip to New Orleans more enjoyable. The best food experience, hands-down...the rhythm and sequence of the course are effortless and harmonious. It was a perfect evening of delicious African cuisine with an intimate, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. A special big Thank You to Effie @kihdeffie, Chef @serignembaye_, and your entire team @dakarnola. Y'all made our anniversary extra special, and I can't wait to return. Dakar is no ordinary restaurant, and it deserves a Michelin Star already! If you have to eat in one restaurant while in New Orleans, it needs to be @dakarnola
Amazing food, chef, service, and experience! I did not know
Amazing food, chef, service, and experience! I did not know much about Senegalese food or culture prior to dining here. Keep in mind that this is communal style dining with each table seating six guests. My boyfriend and I were seated with two other lovely couples, and it was a blast getting to meet and converse with people from different regions. At the start of the meal, the server came to the table with a bowl, pitcher of water, and soap for you to wash your hands- a common Senegalese tradition before each meal. The chef then came out to give us a detailed description of each course, and tied each dish to a memory from growing up in Senegal. I thought it was very sentimental, and gave us some insight into the culture. You can really taste the love he puts into each dish. There was impeccable technique utilized in each dish, which the chef was happy to share with our table when we inquired. Even though all courses were delicious standouts, my favorite course was the Senegalese version of gumbo. The soup was thickened with okra and the rice was crispy in texture. It was so good! The menu changes depending on what is in season, what is available at the farmers market that day, the chef's mood, etc! I can't wait to return when I am back in New Orleans.
The Chef and co-owner have created an experience that is
The Chef and co-owner have created an experience that is worth repeating. The food is creative and the wine pairing was nice. Most of the staff were outstanding and I appreciate their efforts. One young man was our primary sever and used my mother's allergy to shrimp as a public antidote at our community table. It was shaming and his bx in that moment failed the experience. Do better sir. I tip my hat to everyone else.
Flawless experience
From the setting to the service to the food, this was one of the best experiences we’ve had! Came in from Chicago and so glad we thought to book in advance for this restaurant. Such a thoughtful and delicious menu

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!
