Dame Portland Reviews from The Last Year
Had Dame on a sunday for dinner.
made a reservation an hour prior and came in 20 minutes early and they were very flexible and able to seat us! We had already eaten a couple of dishes prior and wanted to top off, so we stopped by and ordered the carpaccio and squid ink bucatini. Both tasted amazing!!! the only complaint that i have is that the carpaccio filled up half of the plate for $17. on the pricier side for less imo, but it did taste very good! the carpaccio was sliced very thin, slightly seared (but cold) and had fois gras flakes and fried capers (slight taste of olive) to top it. very yummmmm! the squid ink pasta was very flavorful, quite spicy!, sour, but most of all, delicious! the noodles themselves had much flavor, the shrimp balanced out the acidity, and the bread was perfectly toasted that it paired well with the (liquidy/soupy) pasta sauce. would def come again to try more menu items!
Found this place to take my parents after the airport.
Adorable vibes, portions were good, menu was fun and seasonal. Loved the service. The music inside was very very loud tho.

What a great restaurant! I just found out about it from a friend. I had the Beef Carpaccio, the Pasta al pasto and a dessert I don't remember the name of. Each dish was better than the last and the wine was great! Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the food here, with the exception of the Cacio E Pepe, which surprises me b/c it seems to be a signature dish of theirs. I found it lacked any flavor, I definitely didn't get "pepper" from this dish. The Beef Carpaccio was one of the most unique dishes I've ever had. The Shaved Foie Gras just melted in your mouth and took this dish to the next level. Its definitely one that I will not forget, ever! The other dish that we really enjoyed was the Risotto. It was cooked perfectly, with a great balance of flavor, we enjoyed this very much. Overall, I really enjoyed Dame, and will likely be back.

The service was good, ambiance good and the food was mostly good. We ordered the beet salad, wagyu carpaccio, mapo tofu ragu and squid ink bucatini. The wagyu was melt in your mouth excellent, beet salad was nice and had a warm spice to it, I enjoyed the ragu but unfortunately the squid ink pasta was excessively salty. If it hadn't been for the squid ink pasta, I would say don't pass this place up! However, when it's one of the two main entrees and largely misses the mark it's hard to walk away feeling satisfied. Would definitely give this place another shot though given everything else was on point.
Excellent meal with slightly generous portions for this
Excellent meal with slightly generous portions for this kind of restaurant. I had the trout-pan fried to perfection and the side veggies were delicious. Partner had the pork -it came with polenta; both were good-especially the polenta! Overall: great meal and we will absolutely visit again!
Very tasty.
We had the Caesar Salad, Cacio E Pepe, & Squid Ink Pasta. The Cacio E Pepe ($18) was very fresh and light tasting. I wouldn't do takeout for it tho, you gotta eat it right away as the cheese starts hardening right away. I kind of like the change in texture it provides halfway thru the meal. I liked the sharpness of the cheese in this dish. The squid ink bucatini was fantastic too tho different than other squid ink pastas - it comes in a shrimp broth so is sort of a noodle soup. The broth is very savory and tasty and good size shrimp too (tho I wish there were mussels as well). The noodles were prob my favorite - hard to describe, they were soft and light yet firm and bouncy. Awesome noodles. You can see them making them by hand in the back room too. I'm not usually a dessert guy but the chocolate cake was amazingly decadent, like eating a cake sized truffle from the Swiss Colony catalog (iykyk). The inside is very portland style - too cramped and small with mostly bench style seating. My only complaint about the food would be way too much red cabbage in the Caesar Salad, made it too bitter. It was like a full head of cabbage lol. But that's what I get for ordering a salad I guess.
Calm but cool ambience, good service, and delicious food
Calm but cool ambience, good service, and delicious food and drink. All around great!

I'm really not sure why I took so long to try Dame because WOW. The food, the ambiance, and the service. Dropped by with my husband on my birthday and had some of the most delicious food ever. We knew that we'd over-order because I always want to try so many different things but we went a little crazy here -- I do admit it. For apps, we got the bread, the cauliflower soup to share while my husband tried the crudo. Then we grabbed the cacio e pepe, the ravioli and my husband got the braised pork coppa for his omnivore self. When I tell you that we were blown away by the food, I'm not even remotely joking. I loved every bite of every single thing we had and I'd legitimately got back to Dame just for the SOUP and BREAD. Even their so called simple little offerings were incredible. The cacio e pepe and the ravioli were both absolutely perfect. Have you ever had a dish where you wouldn't even add one more grain of salt? Well that's what everything here was like. Delicate, balanced, and seasoned with thought so that each bite had the perfect amount of salt and flavor. My husband's pork came with polenta that was honestly the best cooked polenta I have ever had in my life. For dessert, we finished it off with the ricotta donuts and the panna cotta both of which were delicious -- and both of which we would absolutely get again. If you're sitting here contemplating about trying Dame, let me save you the worry and recommend that you get yourself here IMMEDIATELY. Absolutely worth the visit.
Finally dined here after eyeing this place for so long.
I've tried some other food under dame collective and was impressed but Dame ended up being really underwhelming. Every dish was visually appealing but ended up lacking that wow factor. The albacore tuna crudo was flavorless. The marinate seemed to be so light with the only note being citrus. The sauce from the cacio e pepe was overly cheesy and hard to eat. It wouldn't pull apart and coagulated quickly. The squid ink bucatini was a confusing dish because it was literally noodles in stock. Was I eating noodle soup? Luckily the beet salad was good but I was still disappointed in this meal overall. I like the cozy hip neighborhood vibes of the interior though. I think this is an average place to dine but don't expect amazing food innovative flavors here.
Really lovely servers, hostess, and atmosphere.
A little hard to identify from the street (Killingsworth) in the dark (and in my case, snow), but this is a great spot. Will go back for the wine list and the menu: plus plus plus.

The culinary experience was truly exceptional, with flavors that delighted the palate. The service exhibited a remarkable level of professionalism, complementing the inviting ambiance of the restaurant. Overall, a delightful dining experience that exceeded expectations.
We made a 5:30 bar reservation for Saturday.
It's a cozy atmosphere. The bartender and hostess were very friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious - Butternut Squash soup, tuna crudo, cacio e pepe, fall risotto and chocolate cake. I loved that it was intimate and we could hear each other talk.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
