Thursday dinner at the counter
We miss the old Daphne’s I come to London twice per year with my husband Lundvik, Daphne’s became a must for the last few years until now… We used come for the lovely ambience of bartenders such as Salvatore who sadly left, at that times we had fantastic times plus great interaction during last visits One of the reason we come to London is Daphne’s that’s how much it meant for us This time our visit felt worse than Nando’s ( only service wise ) I do apologise to say than We were not greeted at all, we had to ask for water, we had to ask to order our food not even mention to top up our wine or water, literally 0 service at all through the meal The staff felt like they were doing a favour being there… The bar staff had zero interes at all, we have even noticed other seats next to us they were not given proper service Other staff had plenty of time to consume bread in that little corner in front of the people The food was good as always however it did not make up for the atmosphere A big shock for us on this occasion, not the usual place known for Warm wishes Marit, Lundvik
Be the first to ReplySalt can be added, it cannot be taken away!
What was the pasta chef thinking? Salt can be added, it cannot be taken away and we had to tell them this twice when our linguine vongole came to the table so salty it was inedible. They did take it off the bill which was good but the shame was we were back at a favourite old haunt that seems to have lost the plot when it comes to the Italian basics. Salt is bad for us they say. So why put so much in it renders the dish inedible. Shame.

I believe that we might have found one of our new favourite restaurants here in London, perhaps the most family friendly place we’ve stepped foot in. Authentic Italian cuisine and amazing staff such as Matteo who will go above and beyond for you.
Be the first to ReplyCheck the bill
We know this restaurant well and as many do it has had its ups and downs. Today the food was ok but the shock came at the end of the meal. We had been sitting at the bar and when the bill arrived we were a little taken aback when the card machine was pushed forward with the bill. Having checked the bill carefully they had added an extra bottle of wine, which with service charge added a £100 to the cost. When this was pointed out there were no apologies and certain surly looks. BEWARE!
Be the first to ReplyLovely food, very nice people but no wheelchair accessible toilets
Daphne's is an institution, part of the Caprice 'stable' with food and service as good as Scott's or Sheekey's. If you are a wheelchair user, make sure that you don't drink too much as there are no accessible loos! The staff were clearly embarrassed by this but of course it's not their fault. It would be lovely to receive a reply to this review and even better to return in a few months time to see that it had been acted upon.
Be the first to ReplyVery fine Italian in London
The conservatory has a lovely, cozy and romantic vibe. The food and service were just lovely! This was our first visit to London, and we had a 7:30 reservation. We had to wait a bit at the bar, and enjoyed that part of the experience as well. Beautifully made craft cocktails and friendly service. A great evening out! Kudos to the staff!
Be the first to ReplyVery average
Beautiful venue and decor, very friendly wait staff (apart from front desk who came across intimidating) but the food was very bland and extremely overpriced. The wine was poor at £14 a glass I expected better. We just returned from Rome where we could get a litre of wine for €6 which was ten times better. I think it’s just the place to be seen. Wouldn’t go again.
Be the first to ReplyTop Restaurant and Quality Food
Only just got round to writing my review but what a fantastic restaurant this is. The restaurant is a short walk from our home and we enjoyed a Sunday lunch with a bottle of wine at the end of summer. Great service and very high quality food. I would recommend the Chicken.

A really lovely place, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. We sat at the counter and had plenty of room, the food was gorgeous and plentiful. We can’t wait to go back and do it all again
Be the first to ReplyHappy Celebration
First visit to this restaurant, for a lunch time celebration . Warm welcome and good all round ambience, nice decor, etc. Service throughout was excellent. Had the tagliatelle with wild boar Raghu, which was delicious, aswell as the pork/veal meatballs with roast potatoes which were very tasty. Enjoyed the chessboard - all famous Italian cheeses, served with honey which was a first for us but no fruit or celery, which was a little disappointing. Overall, very enjoyable and almost full, which added to the atmosphere of a happy occasion.

Went back for a business lunch after a few months and still a great restaurant with excellent food and top flight service
Be the first to ReplyThe bathrooms smell great!
My partner and I are "regulars" so we are biased and happy to be so. Excellently managed by Gabrielle, many long term staff which is always a good sign, every dish either of us ( or friends) has had there has been first class. The front room can get a bit noisy so ask for the Conservatory if that bothers you , or take a course in shouting at OKA on Kings Road ( which is also excellent). Great wait staff...ALL of them ....hmmm, wonder if we could get a table there NOW?
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, decor, atmosphere and service
Second time here. Excellent food, decor, atmosphere and service. I ordered the prawns, the tagliatelle and truffles. All were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent- very attentive staff. The restaurant is stunning and the prices are reasonable

We was sat in the most gorgeous of tables underneath the the umbrellas in a sort of garden esque aesthetic. Parid, our waiter, was the perfect host. Friendly, helpful and courteous. Knew exactly what we wanted and was always there to make sure everything was okay. He made sure our experience was as it should be, romantic and relaxed. I would highly recommend Daphne’s! Make sure Parid is your waiter to ensure your experience here is just as wonderful as ours!
Be the first to ReplySimply the best
Sometimes I wish there was a 5 and a half star box we could tick because this place would qualify hands down. There is a reason you can’t just get a casual reservation and that comes down to location, ambience, food and staff that are par excellence. My prosciutto starter was as fresh as the day the head chef followed this little piggy down to market so I made ample use of that visit to order the calves liver and pancetta as a main. Who says 10 mg of Lipitor can’t handle the load, this food was so good it will have you calling your doctor to say there is no such thing as bad cholesterol. So hats off to everyone and apologise to the meatballs that I have had every month for the past 27 years… I have cheated on you, but for good reason.

Loved. Sat at the bar. Bartenders super nice. Had half portion of pasta (which was still big) and branzino. Martini was lovely as well. Space very nice. My only negative: I had issues with reservation. Made one online, called to confirm, told I didn’t have one so verbally made one on the phone, got to restaurant and was told I had one for a different night, hostess argumentative. She could have just said “oh my, terrible mix up, I’m so sorry” but just argued. Once past her, lovely evening!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
Visited for lunch yesterday. This restaurant stands the test of time. Packed even on a Monday. Fabulous chianti. Amazing food. Tuna tartare followed by calves liver. Lovely bread and tomato salad. Service and ambience excellent. Highly recommend

The Christmas decorations were pretty spectacular. Service was lovely polite and friendly and the food was excellent. Lovely vibe and ambiance and a lovely place to start off the new years outings.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Christmas Ambiance and Great Bartenders
We visited Daphnes to experience the Christmas spirit/environment that they put so much effort into. We had a reservation around the time they opened and were sat at the bar (which I usually am not a fan of, but it was great). The bartenders were very engaging, thoughtful, and provided great description of the food. They had this Leggero - tonic drink which was incredibly refreshing, and I ended up having several of those. We had the ravioli which was delicious along with the shrimp and the tuna tartare which were all very tasty.
Be the first to ReplySeverely disappointing
I came today for a “bridal lunch” with my aunties and cousins and the service from start to finish was utterly disappointing. I made the reservation over the phone over 8 weeks ago, as soon as the date opened, as I was keen to celebrate my special occasion here, and specifically requested a nice table, in the conservatory if available. I was told they would try their best, but this should be fine. On arriving today, we were sat in one of the darkest corners of the restaurant, with barely any air conditioning. I asked to speak to the manager about the table booking who said a 21st birthday asked for the last table in the conservatory and specifically requested this on their booking so will be honoured. Even though I did too (I made the booking before they did). I asked if we could sit in a lighter part of the restaurant, as we wanted to take pictures and enjoy the setting. I was told this was not possible as they could not move tables together. I sat down and thought I’d forget about it and try to enjoy the rest of the meal. Rest of the meal was also a disaster, no side plates were given with the bread/oils so we ate off the table. Crumbs were not cleaned up and food was served on top, I had to specially request the crumbs to be cleaned. Cocktails were overfilled and split while serving, glasses became sticky but waitress did not seem to care. Took ages to get a member of staff’s attention for an order. “Congratulations” dessert was given (not complimentary) and served to the wrong person. The whole time, there was empty tables in the conservatory/light part of the restaurant and we were still sat in the dimly lit part. Whole experience was shambolic and ruined what was supposed to be a beautiful and special start to my wedding celebrations. Food was average and bill was over £500. Only recommend booking this place if you personally know the manager as they do not seem to pay attention to new customers. Will not be returning and do not recommend you book any special celebratory events here!
Be the first to ReplyGreat to be back - at probably the best in Chelsea / London West End
With Covid now being managed - it was great to be returning to Daphne's after 2.5 years absence (for us). It still is, for us one of the best Italian restaurants in London. We, my adult daughter and I, have eaten here, on average twice a year, probably since 2006. The GM, Gabriele Esposito greeted us, as if we had been in last week!! His memory must be like an IBM. Great friendly, professional guy - who simply understand good customer service. As does his crew. Food classical Italian. I own a place in Italy and I guess I know a bit about this cuisine. We ate in their new Al Fresco section - all bright and colorful with very nice seating. My squid and tomato starter was historic. I could smell the sea, as I did with the spaghettis and clams mid-course. I then had Chicken Milanese. Faultless. My daughter had beef carpaccio and truffles and then octopus. Terrific. Wine chilled to perfect. Service was impeccable. Go there; I doubt, most, even anyone - will be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyNot impressed at all
I have rated my experience at Daphnes as 2 star as we was sat outside as requested but as a result of this we had poor service.I felt our waitress didn’t really understand what we wanted as when asked for a gin and lemonade we got soda water instead. We ordered our food which was beef carpaccio to start and aubergine for my friend both were average. Salmon which was the fish of the day and chicken Milanese, the fish came with no sides but other sea food which wasn’t very nice. The Milanese had bones in. Desert was no flour chocolate cake and salted caramel ice cream and was nice also chocolate truffles which was 4 small chocolates. We both wasn’t very impressed with the whole experience and wouldn’t return
Be the first to ReplyPrivate Event- Amazing!!
Daphnes hosted our wedding dinner and it was absolutely perfect! From start to finish the events team were excellent. On the day the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was incredible. If you are looking to host a private event I would definitely recommend Daphnes!
Be the first to ReplyBad attitude
We received no service at all. Had to ask to order both drinks and dinner. Food was banged down on the table with the wrong dishes to each person for both courses. Not a single smile or welcome from any staff member across the whole restaurant. It was like they were doing you a favour to serve you. A most unenjoyable evening.

I haven’t been to Daphne’s in years as it just got boring but so glad I went back! It really was very good- straightforward good Italian food served with little fuss. Absolutely loved the liver dish as well as the zabaglioni - both are a must!
