I landed in Pittsburgh and my wife was hangry and we were on a mission to get some yummy food in that belly. We were staying in the the Strip / Lawrenceville area so dropped a pin on the map to get us to that area and then we would find. Well little did I know that the random point on the map that I touched was this restaurant. We thought it was fate so let's give it a shot and we were glad that we did. As we walked up to the host desk to check in we kept seeing all these amazing plates. Asking people what they ordered. Place was packed but only had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table. Overall there were smiles and good vibes all over the room. We were sat at a high top since the dining room was fully reserved that night. No problem at all it was perfect. Now the food and service. The food I would say was 8.5/10. - Bread 8/10 - little pricey for bread with olive oil but yummy - spring salad 6/10 - real heavy on oregano. I enjoyed is fresh and tasty. Wife not so much - lamb sugo pasta 9/10 - cooked well and tasty - CREMA DI POMODORO SECCO - 9/10 - great homemade pasta and flavorful sauce. The service is where is fell short. The host was awesome. Super nice and friendly gentlemen. But we sat at a high top in the bar area and our server / bartender was just super busy so we didn't see him often and had to wait long period in between orders and to get the check and to take the card etc. was very nice but def would help to get him help or fix how the service works when sitting in bar area.
Be the first to ReplyI cannot say enough good things about this spot.
First of all, all of their pasta is made FRESH! I would literally eat here everyday if I could get a reservation, but even if you don't have one, they will work super hard to fit you in somewhere cause it's a super friendly, family oriented atmosphere and the service is spot on! They bring fresh bread to each table with dipping oil. So far I've had their gnocchi (ummm...yeah...it's to die for), the meatballs (I'm pretty sure they're the food of the gods), and the Cacio E Pepe (I just kept eating and eating this delicious pasta, but there was so much still left on the plate!). That leads me to the other best thing about this spot; they never skimp on portion sizes. You will be taking a doggie bag home for sure!
Be the first to ReplyGood food good atmosphere but not great for gluten free.
Also not the most knowledgeable servers if you have any questions about food safety or food allergies and intolerance...

My husband and I were in Pittsburgh for a hockey game (Go Pens!) and we found DiAnoia's on Yelp and we decided to try it. It was spectacular. Every thing we had from the soup to the gnocchi was phenomenan. We would love for DiAnoia's to open a restaurant in our town. My husband and I have joked about flying back to Pittsburgh, just to eat at DiAnoia's again. Highly recommend!

We came to this restaurant during their Negroni week last year, which was such a fun event to experience! After that, we enjoyed two delicious and unique cocktails at the bar before we were seated. The ambiance of the dining area is very pretty and classy, while still comfortable. We had a delicious kale salad, and their homemade focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was amazing! Our entrees were the gnocchi in a bread bowl and the pork. All the homemade bread was excellent, the pork was very flavorful and the gnocchi were perfect fluffy pillows! Our service was great too. Definitely recommend this restaurant for yummy drinks and excellent Italian food!

My friend and I recently dined at Dianoia's and embarked on a delightful culinary adventure. We kicked off our meal with two appetizers: the escarole, beans, and sausage, and the nduja cheese & pesto aioli. While the escarole, beans, and sausage dish was bursting with flavor, it leaned slightly towards the salty side for my taste. Conversely, the nduja cheese & pesto aioli was a true delight, boasting a perfect balance of crispness and spices. Moving on to our entrees, we savored the gnocchi bread bowl and the chicken alla bosciolla. While the gnocchi bread bowl made a stunning presentation, its flavor profile leaned towards the standard side. However, the chicken alla bosciolla stole the show with its tender meat and decadent, savory sauce. Overall, our experience at Dianoia's left us with positive impressions. With its inviting ambiance and attentive service, Dianoia's stands out as a top choice for Italian cuisine in Pittsburgh.

Cannot say enough good things about DiAnoia's, my boyfriend and I love it. It's my favorite Italian spot in Pittsburgh, cocktails are always a hit and pasta is amazing. I always get the meatballs, ricotta, doughnuts for dessert, and some type of pasta (we usually switch up which pasta we get). Sometimes we'll grab some pastries to go too! It's never too crowded and they have a great ambiance. We usually go here for date nights, you can dress up or down, it's pretty casual but I like dressing up for a date night. We loved when they did brunch and hope they bring it back!
Be the first to ReplyDianoias is hands down a place I will NEVER get sick of.
The best pasta and service. I love the ambiance of the place where do you even feel you're in Pittsburgh. 100/10 every time. PS don't forget to get the bread and whipped ricotta
Be the first to ReplySo everything was amazing.
My nephew had the steak and it was delicious. (We all had a taste) The Vongole was perfect and the pasta was al-dente. The gnocchi was very light and the sauce was not overwhelming. The star was our server Alexa Kennedy, who even though she was so busy made us feel like we were her only customers. In Europe, serving is a respected profession and she could compete with the best of them. Deserts were perfect, especially the lemon and blueberry cheescake.
Be the first to ReplyWe arrived pretty late, about 1:45pm.
We didn't know that Sunday does not have regular lunch menu, it just has the brunch menu. Sadly, since we were so late, the pizza rolls and cinnamon rolls were sold out. They sounded delicious though. We got the breakfast pizza, veal Parmesan, and pistachio cake roll. Breakfast pizza was decadent and delicious. Also somehow evoked feelings of breakfast? Spaghetti with the veal was top notch. Deep flavorful sauce and fresh pasta. Dessert was definitely real pistachio. Very subtle and slightly overpowered by the dark chocolate. Delicious none the less, and very very rich. Homey Italian feel.

We've been trying to get into this restaurant for almost a year. Always booked, so I finally got us a reservation on a Friday. It was before a show at the Benedum. It was Saint Patrick's Day, so maybe folks weren't looking for Italian food on that night! So happy we finally found out for ourselves about all the hype around this place. It was fantastic Italian food. Probably one of the best in the city.It was raining when we got to the restaurant and the hostess showed us to our table upstairs. We had to walk through a tiled hallway which because of the water tracked in, had become a little slippery. I mentioned this to our hostess as we got to the table, but she seemed rather indifferent to my advising her of a potential liability. Oh well, that was the only negative thing I have to say about the entire evening. We ordered some drinks to start. We had some signature cocktails that were tasty. I was the only one who ordered a salad with my meal. I have to say it was the best house salad I've ever had. Loaded with chick peas, olives, roasted red pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and lovely mixed greens, it could have been a meal on it's own. We got some bread to go with the cocktails which came with a creamy ricotta cheese topping mixed with olive oil. I've never had anything like that before. Between that and the salad I could easily have been sated. It was wonderful! Our entrees ranged from gnocchi with a meat ball, to Cacio e Pepe to Vongole linguine (clam sauce). All were homemade pasta and all were delicious. Those who ordered the gnocchi had enough to take home for lunch the next day. I ate all my Vongole. The Cacio e Pepe was so creamy and decadent, my daughter couldn't help but clean her plate too.Our server was very efficient and nice. The atmosphere upstairs was nice and quiet and the artwork on the walls was interesting. The ladies room was clean and well stocked.Overall, an excellent dining experience and I hope to get back again to try out more dishes.

I stopped by for lunch here yesterday for the first time! The ambiance is nice, very unique design elements like chandeliers made from bottles and glasses. During the time that I went you are asked to take a menu, get in line, and order at a counter. I'm not sure if it is like this at all times of the day. I ordered the Aglio E Olio and shared the whipped ricotta. The pasta tasted fresh, but I wish it wasn't so cooked. If I go again I will definitely make sure to specify al dente when ordering. The whipped ricotta and toasted bread was definitely the star for me, better than the main dish! I also saw some great looking desserts, but didn't have time to get any. Overall this was a good first stop in, and I would definitely recommend stopping in if you haven't before. Hopefully I will get to give it another try soon.

Absolutely delicious pasta, very elevated ambiance, and extremely great service. Delicious drinks as well (I recommend the shakerato). Went with my boyfriend for Valentine's and had an amazing experience! Will be back very, very soon
Be the first to ReplyHard to get into but worth the wait.
We sat at the bar and the waitress was so kind and attentive. The fresh pasta was incredible. We also started with the fresh bread which was wood fired and amazing - I highly recommend getting it with the burrata!

I've been here a few times before but I would recommended coming for dinner! They have a larger pasta menu at dinner and I would highly recommend the mushroom pasta. Everything we had was really good. They start you off with bread, oil and vinegar. Bread was soft and lightly salted-- so good. The cacio e Pepe was soo creamy and packs a punch of flavor which each bite. We started with the escarole and beans which comes in a pretty large size so we had to pack it home. My only complaint was that the escaroles and beans were a bit too salty. Mushroom pasta was so light and comforting and went really well with the meatballs. During lunch they serve lots of sandwiches which are good too but my highlight is still the pasta here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and amazing food.
Restaurant was very busy but had a good atmosphere for a Friday night. Would highly recommend their cheesecake and moscato.

We had been trying to gonthere for quite a while, and made reservations over a month in advance. I was pleased to see cacia e pepe on the menu and ordered it with a sausage "protein add on". I received a large helping of pasta and cheese, and was pleasantly surprised that the add on was a generous helping of sweet Italian sausage. All of the food was delicious, and the service was great. Will definitely return.

This restaurant came highly recommended online and by locals. Sadly, their own website and Yelp have misprinted their hours. Also, they do not allow dogs. Understandable, but please update Yelp. When I gave my input, they were defensive, but then recommended other possible restaurants. Kinda cool.
