This was one of the best dining experiences I've had.
My husband and I had the port cocktail, the goat, prawn, burrata as well as the crème brûlée crepe, the watermelon and eucalyptus gazpacho and the banana caramel with recommendations from our lovely waiter Andres and all were specular. The location on the river can't be beat. Will be back!

A group of us dined here as part of an epicurean tour of Portugal and the tasting was top notch. I had a pescatarian option and each dish topped the last. The unique combinations of flavors that somehow created familiar tastes was a something you don't experience often especially executed this well. The little vegetarian "hot dog" was mind blowing on how the exact flavor was replicated by completely different foods. Over all a great experience and one of the better restaurants we experienced!

We had the scarlet shrimp for starters and for our main course sea bass and octopus. I idon'thave a word to describe it but this tops the trip we have here in Portugal. We will definitely come back and bring our kids with us.

The quality of food and service what you would expect from a world class restaurant. Pricey, but worth it. Artistically presented, with extra tastes from the chef between courses. I write this almost a year later so I'm sorry I do not remember the specific dishes. They were all great.

The hard part of reviewing a place like this is that the menu can change so abruptly and drastically that a meal one day to the next can be completely different. We stopped for lunch after visiting several port wine vineyards that call the region home. For a place of this caliber o even be open for lunch is unusual. Also my wife and I were concerned about dining here with a 3 and 6 year old but it is quite family friendly. The restaurant is located riverside and offers beautiful views of the Douro Valley. Restaurants with this type of view are usually gimmicky and I can assure you this place is not. The pasta was fresh and made in house, the scallops and octopus were cooked to perfection and the duck was glorious with foie gras. Each dish was good but most fell a little short of our lofty expectations. Especially the fish which seemed devoid of an real discernible flavor. Before desert they served a palate cleanser that playfully included pop rocks which was a real hit with the adults and kids alike. I would like to return for dinner to see what they are cooking up. The service was impeccable.

One of the culinary highlights of my life! Incredible and unique food, fantastic service, truly a special evening.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful riverside view in the Douro valley.
Excellent service. Staff speaks great English. Had duck for lunch which was prepared perfectly. The octopus appetizer was great. Finished with cappuccino and orange creme brûlée!! If you're in Douro Valley, this is a great place for lunch or dinner.

A high end spot with an amazing view located on the bank of the Douro River a 20 minute drive from Régua. We enjoyed a lovely dinner sitting out on the large sheltered deck. As the nights are starting to get cooler after the sunset (7:30), they had located many heating lamps and positioned cozy blankets on chairs just in case. It was quite pleasant. Food-wise you can order a tasting menu if several courses with optional wine pairings or do what we did and select from the ala-carte menu. We've learned with the big portion sizes here in Portugal to cut back a bit so we ordered two starters (burratta with tomatoes and the scarlet shrimp with rice). The burratta was a standout with creamy sweet cheese nestled in a tomato confit. The shrimp was interesting-it was almost like a mini lobster and the server removed the head at the table for me. We decided to share a main course-the veal tenderloin which was good but not nearly as tender as one might expect. In between there were little small bites from the chef and we ended with a luscious chocolate dessert. The white glove service was a swarm of activity instantly refilling glasses, clearing plates and changing silverware-it was a little much for me as our table was right at the crossroads of the activity.Wine list is huge as you'd expect with everything from wines by the glass for €10-17 to bottles in the hundreds and even thousands of euros. I saw one that was €6 thousand on the list. As is common in this kind of place, prices were steep and our dinner with 2 drinks, 2 glasses of wine, 2 starters, 1 main and 1 dessert was around €150.Bottom line a lovely place with great service and food and high
Be the first to ReplyWe had an amazing dinner at DOC tonight.
The quality was top notch as were the service and presentation. We both ordered the signature dishes and a bottle of wine. While not inexpensive, we have never experienced such unusual dishes that looked as good as it tasted. If you appreciate fine dining, look no further then DOC.
Be the first to ReplyGreat view, excellent seafood, reasonable prices.
We stopped by with a reservation for a weekday lunch, and we were seated outside with plenty of extra seating. We shared the scallop and squid appetizers, both of which were tasty, but the highlights were the entrees--the octopus was excellently prepared, while the lamb was also delicious. The food was overall delicious and the service very helpful, all in a very comfortable environment; I highly recommend making a trip out here for a meal.

The food is excellent the price is reasonable for the quality of what is delivered. The location is spectacular and the food is plated in a way that reflects the location, each dish is a work of art.We arrived for a late lunch or early dinner at 5 PM only to find that the information we received on yelp was not correct and they would be open at 7 PM.When we pointed this out to the manager she felt terrible opened a table for us made appetizers poured us a lovely glass of wine and invited us to return later that evening, which we did.Heads up , they're closed from lunch until 7 PM but certainly worth a stop. River side dining at its finest!!
