Dos Urban Cantina Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
This was not only one of the worst Mexican meals I've ever
This was not only one of the worst Mexican meals I've ever had and one of the worst meals I've had in recent memory. That this place exists in a market of great Mexican food is astounding to me. $80 including the mandatory 20% tip (ridiculous) is just killing me this morning. What a waste. I think customers must love the cheap drinks at happy hour and the discount on snacks. That's my guess. Maybe they don't live near a better place. We ordered the dip trio with their heavy greasy chips and a couple drinks to start. I liked the salsa but the pepita hummus and guac weren't great. They were also absolutely buried in sharp nasty white onions. The salsa was just like they make at a very famous restaurant this chef/owner used to work at. I don't love the menu. You can get a good taco anywhere in Chicago. You can't walk a few blocks without seeing one. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. Mistake. The worst version I have ever seen or had anywhere in the country. Where was the green sauce? It was a pile of tortillas, chicken and cheese. Oh, and don't forget another pile of those onions. It was a terrible dish. The side of rice had as much energy as you'd expect. You could get better out of a box. I tried my wife's beans and again, better out of a can. No energy in these either. I tried her fish taco and handed it back to her. Yawn. Needed a flavorful sauce/salsa or something. The waiter was wearing a backwards baseball cap, shorts and running shoes. It's a bar. It's clear that this is a bar masquerading as a restaurant. If that's your deal, enjoy your drink and snack for happy hour and go somewhere else for dinner.
I am not sure why I had never been to Dos or heard about it
I am not sure why I had never been to Dos or heard about it from others before this past weekend. The food was good and the tacos are big with plenty of filling. I probably would have been content with just one but I was more than happy to have leftovers for later. They offer a daily agua fresca which you can add your choice of spirit to and when I found out that passionfruit was the flavor I couldn't help but order one with some rum. It tasted amazing. There was a good amount of seating on their sidewalk patio which was a real plus given the first taste of summer that we had over the weekend. It's not a glamorous patio by any means but it still had a nice ambiance. The staff were all friendly especially considering that we arrived 30 mins before the kitchen closed. I went with two friends and we shared a shrimp ceviche along with the trio of dips for appetizers. Both came with tortilla chips which our waiters refilled without our even asking. I had a carne asada taco and the Baja style fish taco and as I mentioned above the portions were big and everything tasted great. I'm looking forward to going to Dos Urban Cantina the next time I'm in the mood for a slightly elevated taco experience or maybe to take advantage of their happy hour specials which all sounded like great deals.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
