Terrible customer service and over rated food.
Lacking in quality. If you know good sushi you don't go to this place. Or really any place in Gainesville. Absolute garbage!
Be the first to ReplyHappy Hour is the only time worth coming here.
Service has improved since the last time we were here. Menu has changed so it was nice to try something new. Nice ambiance for dates or special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyBeen going to Dragonfly for years and it never disappoints.
Great customer service, amazing food and drinks, and an overall great restaurant vibe! Would recommend to anyone coming in town to visit or just for some awesome sushi!

Food was great, we ordered the pork ramen and short rib miso ramen. Both very flavorful and complex, very generous portion as well. Service was very good, fast and respectful. Overall, not too packed on a Sunday night and their outside seating is very enjoyable.

Trey provided the upmost service with conversation drink and food recommendations with communication on when our food would arrive on a busy evening if you were looking for a date night or social gathering, he is the one to ask for.
Be the first to ReplyService was just ok.
Food was ok. They had a full house so maybe under staffed. Drinks were good.

Obsessed with Dragonfly, and I wish I could go back some time soon. Their drinks are fantastic, service was quick, and their sushi was insanely good. Also the bao buns??? SO good. It's a must-go if i'm ever back in Gainesville.

I came here with my girlfriend to celebrate my birthday, and left sorely disappointed. The happy hour menu was decent, service was fast, but food was mediocre at best and downright gross in some cases, which is CRAZY given what they charge. They don't do anything special for special occasions, so if you're looking to celebrate something, I'd suggest visiting somewhere else more upscale that does, like the local Chik-Fil-A. Whatever you do, do NOT order the nigiri under any circumstances. The fish tastes and feels like it's a couple days old, and doesn't have the taste, color, or consistency that decent sushi should. I spent over $50 on 8 pieces of nigiri, which was insulting considering what I was served. The two piece serving of O Toro (fatty tuna) nigiri, which will set you back $19, was literally gray in color, and tasted like it had sat out for the last 24 hours. Please do your tastebuds and wallet a favor and visit anywhere else.
Be the first to ReplyWho would have thought that one of the best sushi
Who would have thought that one of the best sushi restaurants in Florida would be in Gainesville? The food is outstanding. They have many very unique types of sushi and rolls. Their appetizers are very tasty as well. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts. A little pricey but well worth it. Get their early as the lines form quickly and their can be a long wait.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a spontaneous date night.
Had a 20-25 min wait. First time here and saw the reviews, setting the bar high. Glad to say the bar was met. Quality all around was great, even in the miso soup. Definitely pay for the premium. Prices reflect quality. Ordered the Miso Soup and Wontons to start. Miso soup had great quality ingredients such as mushrooms usually not found in other restaurants. Wontons had very interesting flavors and were super creamy, would've preferred some real crab chunks though, but that's just my personal preference. All the sushi rolls were to die for. Black Dragon could use a bit more eel but overall tasted great. Smoky dragon had a great balance of smoky flavors and great taste. Mango Tango felt more on the presentation style rather than true sushi taste but if you want a fruity roll with some sweet potato chips, go for it. O-Toro Nigiri met the standards but probably wouldn't get again for such a high premium. Not a must have but a great experience to taste premium quality. Ended it off with the Tempura Fried Cheesecake which also tasted great. Overall a really great restaurant that gives a premium experience for a premium price. Would come again.

Absolutely love this place! I haven't had one thing I did not like. The wonton appetizer is a favorite & their drink specials are so good! I love the outside seating and our wait staff is always so great. I was going about every weekend and I live an hour away! Totally worth it!

Inside is nice, going through some construction so some areas are covered with plastic/ or closed. Hostesses were very sweet and our server was too. The food was very good. Will love to dine again when in the area.

Wonderful sushi and experience! Always bring my family and friends here whenever we're in Gainesville!
Be the first to ReplyI love going here.
There is so much on the menu and everything is so delicious. The plates are small for the prices but it is advertised as a tapa type place. I have been a returning customer and will always recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyThis remains the best Japanese restaurant in Gainesville
This remains the best Japanese restaurant in Gainesville after 20+ years. The food and drink is consistently amazing. No matter what you order, or what your dietary restrictions are, you will receive a delicious meal. After years of enjoying wagu & tuna, I went vegan 5 years ago and was delighted to find their vegan options were just as tasty! They have a 7 piece vegan offering that blows my mind every time I have the pleasure of ordering it. The maitake mushroom fritter is also a must have. Finally, the warm spinach salad is so simple yet satisfying! The wait can be painful, but I guarantee it is more than worth it!

Thee elite Sushi bar in the swamp!!We've been blessed with so many delicious sushi spots in Gainesville and Dragonfly is definitely right up at the top. Don't think that you can just pop up here all the time, a reservation would be a wise choice! Located in the heart of downtown Gainesville, Dragonfly is a fantastic choice for a friend's night out, date night, or whatever occasion you're celebrating. You're in for a real treat whether you sit and enjoy your dinner al fresca with a view of the city or if you sit inside in the beautifully-decorated interior restaurant. The vibes inside of the restaurant are so moody and chill, I love it! I honestly feel like there hasn't been a dish that I have failed to enjoy here, from the entrees to the sushi bar - each bite has been worthwhile. The sushi always tastes incredibly fresh and when paired with one of their delicious cocktails? *chefs kiss* I've also always enjoyed the amazing service I've received here and my last visit was no exception. Upon learning that we were celebrating a birthday and major life changes, our amazing server returned to our table with a surprise plate of mochi ice cream, fruit and chocolate - so sweet!!So if you're looking for a delicious meal paired with a beautiful venue and prime location, look no further.
Be the first to ReplyLet me begin by saying I love Dragonfly! I frequent all
Let me begin by saying I love Dragonfly! I frequent all their locations for business dinners on a regular basis. The food, especially the chef inspired Omakase is second to none. And typically I'd be leaving a 5 star review that is glowing with praise because it really is incredible and rivals anything you'd find in New York, LA, & Vegas. However last nights meal was a travesty, it took over an hour and a half to receive our first dish from the kitchen. The waiter whom was clearly new and inexperience kept apologizing but did nothing to alleviate the wait. And this was not his fault, he just didn't know what he was doing. The restaurant was busy and we had plenty of beer and sake to keep us company. But this is simply unacceptable. We watched as people came and went and had a lovely night. And then as the dinner crowd wained our finally food came out. A few stunning plates that were truly amazing. But the lack of attention from the kitchen really needs to be addressed. We would have happily switch up our night to accommodate and not done the Omakase. A manager should have stopped by the table at some point, but this never happened. Simply disappointed in the over all experience for a restaurant that has, can, and should do better to ensure it's guests are attended to.
Be the first to ReplyBest ramen I've had in my entire life.
It's a bit pricey but the quality makes this place worth it.
