Great food and nice ambiance
We started out with an appetizer while waiting for our main dish. By the time our main dish was served, I was almost full. Food was delicious and highly recommended. Also, the ambiance was so nice and service was so great.
Be the first to ReplyGreat but avoid the wok dishes
Great service and atmosphere, just order something other than the wok dishes. Chinese/Ecuadorian fusion with soy sauce soaked French fries was not a good choice on my part.

I've been here twice with my boyfriend and it is really one of the nicest, most romantic unassuming restaurants I've been to. The food is delicious, the ambiance is fantastic and the service is very friendly. An added bonus is that my boyfriend lives up the hill from El Caserio so we get to take a nice romantic stroll through the quaint neighborhood on our way to an equally quaint dinner destination. It's becoming a favorite for us. Highly recommend.

You don't find many Ecuadorian restaurants outside of Ecuador, but this is one of the best. My father was Ecuadorian and first stumbled upon this restaurant (the original one on Virgil Blvd) almost 18 years ago. The food is very faithful to its roots bringing nostalgia with every bite. If its your first time eating here, try the Milanesa, breaded skirt steak, (ask for lentils as a side always) AND rice!! If you're not lactose intolerant, order cheese empanadas (not a big fan of chicken or beef empanadas) and a Figs and Burrata Cheese for dessert (the figs are not dry btw). If you want to venture out, order Llapingachos (potato cheese patties topped with peanut sauce and a fried egg-a staple for us Ecuadorians) and a seco de gallina or chivo (chicken or goat simmered perfectly in beer infused sauce) or Guatita (tripe with potatoes in a peanut based sauce). They also have toasted plantains (not sweet) topped with salt called Patacones. Their authentic fruit drinks should definitely be tried also! Overall, you can't really go wrong with this place. The ambiance is a mix between Italianan decor and great latin music in the background. Service? Impeccable!

Soups are hearty and wonderful. Steak picado not that good. Nice selections of beers.
Friendly staff.
Very good and welcoming place, you feel at home and the food is excellent
A party of 8 of us went there since one of the group is an Ecuadorian and he recommended it. We were not disappointed. From the outside, you just know it's going to be good and going in, you had the feel you'd come to a welcoming place you'd just like to hang out in. Old world feel crossing a NY Italian with a West Coast South American feel...
The large wine cellar by the door was the tipoff that let you know it's going to be class meal while the inviting bar sort of begged you to sit and enjoy it. My kind of place.
We had a wide selection of about everything on the menu and it was all very good. I had the lengua en salsa and it was fantastic, the sauce was outstanding. if the place hadn't been white table cloth, I'd have licked the plate.
A large wedding party was in the open courtyard and, at night, the courtyard is a really nice part of the restaurant. Obviously, the party had a great time as they were all smiling and having a great time too.
Obviously, recommended if you like Italian or South American dishes.
Nice Neighborhood Place
The food here is consistently good as is the service. The staff is really friendly and they remember you when you return even if it's been awhile. The menu is from South America and includes a lot of roast pork, which they do extremely well. They also have a brunch menu on Sundays with several omelet choices and bottomless mimosas. The sangria is also delicious. The patio needs a little cleaning but it's still very comfortable and also pretty popular. I've been going here for several years and it's always a good experience.
