Not as good as before
I had visited Elvet a few times pre Covid days and we as a family were looking forward to it when visiting to celebrate our sons 16th birthday, 13 people in attendance. Things have changed and prices have definitely shot up which you don't mind as the food is great which it was. The issues I had were minor but did ruin our mood as we had brought a cake with us and then were told that we could not consume this or cut the cake as it is their policy. We had done this in the past and I respect that this policy is new but they should ask people booking over the phone if there is an occasion and then they can give you a heads up which many restaurants do so you don't waste money on buying a fancy cake! Whet really rubbed salt in the wound was that they also said that thee had no storage space in the kitchen either which for a 100+ seating restaurant just doesn't sound or feel right especially as teh restaurant was more than half empty. I think the lighting is a bit too dark for reservations that were made for 5.30pm, I get many restaurants get darker as the evening goes on but when there is still daylight outside it just feels odd! One thing I would suggest they do, is to add more alternative soft drinks so that the only fizzy ones are not just Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite, many people now are wanting to try alternative fizzy drinks and also the juice options were limited too. Some meals came with sides which weren't needed to be ordered and it just felt that some things they pushed you to spend more money which we didn't appreciate when the bill came. Service was super friendly and good and as mentioned earlier food was great just a few things they need to tweak but honestly we're unlikely to go back there again after feeling a bit ripped off.

Great food and great service from Sultan. Very helpful and made good suggestions as this was our first visit to the restaurant. Good ambience, clean and tidy tables and seats.
Lush halal steak!
Biggie was an excellent server and the food was delicious! We tried the steak board to taste the cuts on offer, the hand cut chips, mash and greens. Makesure you try the flower pot dessert! It was so much fun! We will definitely be back, excellent service, perfectly made steak, lush!

Amazing experience
I went for my birthday with my husband, customer service was 10/10, mainly “Biggie” looked after us, food was amazing too! Really enjoyed my first time there. Would definitely definitely recommend!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
