Estia Restaurant Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
One of the BEST Greek/Mediterranean restaurants I have been
One of the BEST Greek/Mediterranean restaurants I have been to...period! From the calamari to the hummus to the Greek salad and spanakopita...everything was delicious! Our main entrees were lamb chops with Greek potatoes. Phenomenal flavor, taste and preparation. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Definitely a return visit! Do yourself a favor and eat here.
Finally got around to trying this place and went during
Finally got around to trying this place and went during restaurant week with my two girlfriends. The ambience of this place is wonderful!! As you walk in you feel like you are walking into Greece. (The only thing is the part we were sitting was a little too dark but otherwise the decor is great). Love the decor and everything. The service was outstanding as well. Our server was very attentive. We all got the restaurant week menu and I got the Mussels Saganaki, Lavraki, and for dessert I got the Baklava rolls. My friends got different items from the restaurant menu. I tried a bite of their dishes and every dish was excellent!!! This is def a great place for restaurant week and will be coming here often. I can see why this is one of the highly rated restaurants in Philly and why everyone raves about this place!!
Not relaxing.
Quite expensive and overall, good, but expensive. Felt very hurried and it's annoying when a waiter (even if he's been there for 20 years) finishes your sentences, telling you what you want to eat. "Desert, baklava of course." No. Not the way it works. Good food in a well-known place, but not great.
One of my favorite restaurants I go to in the city.
The quality of the food is amazing and the staff is just great. They are so hospitable, especially this one Greek man that was taking care of me during my birthday. I highly recommend! Great for groups and reservations are quite easy. Not sure how it'll be without a reservation. Definitely try their espresso martini! Food/Drinks: All amazing! I would recommend doing their sample menu if you want to try a bit of everything. However, you'd have to be hungry because it's a ton of food. I had their lobster pasta, roasted chicken, and lamb chops, and they were all delicious. True to the $$$. Ambience: Amazing! Makes you feel like you're in Greece, haha. Great for groups. Can bring a date as well but it's a bit loud. Rating: 9/10 Pros: Lamb chops Cons: In middle of city so street parking might be tough. Lot parking available, but can be expensive
Great service, OUTSTANDING FOOD! So good I almost forgot to
Great service, OUTSTANDING FOOD! So good I almost forgot to take photos. The seating space excellent as well. I have nothing to say about this place except that my wife and I really enjoyed the food/meals. Will definitely be coming back to try other dishes.
Perfect place for pre-theater, pre-orchestra meal.
They have a reasonable pre-theater prix fixe menu. Expert and warm service, delicious food -- the lamp chops were excellent. As was tasty Greek salad and perfectly crispy on the outside, moist on the inside roast chicken. Don't miss the lemony potatoes. The ambience is fun for a group, not particularly cozy if you're looking for that vibe. Overall this is a win!

Made reservations thinking Estia was an Italian restaurant, but to our surprise turned out to be one the best meals I've had. If you're ever in Philly Estia is a MUST!!!

Great seafood! would def come back again for the food and the atmosphere. service was average but the food coming out of the kitchen makes up for it
Great food and the place is huge.
Went there twice and enjoyed everything. You will not be disappointed !

We had a wonderful dinner here for my sisters birthday! The service was great and all of the food tasted great. The chicken lemon soup and the estia chips were AMAZING. I really wanted to take an extra order home with me but luckily had leftovers. For entrees we had the salmon, roasted chicken with yogurt and lamb chops. Each tasted great and the portions were enough to take some home. Overall a great experience and we'll definitely be back!

Grilled shrimp, old fashioneds* These are my favorite things Pretty dining room *had a lot of food but the Greek old fashioned was the winner. Very attentive staff as well
This establishment is located near city hall in downtown
This establishment is located near city hall in downtown Philly. It offers a great atmosphere and ambience, but more importantly, the Greek cuisine served here is terrific. It provides a pre-set option of three course meal at a set price. Entrees presentation was excellent, and tastes superb. Waiting staff was friendly and explained specials of the day. Portions were generous, and orders came out at a good pace. So whether you're in town for a play/show, or simply visiting the attraction, Estia would be a good place to sample fine Greek cuisine.
The food here is excellent, which is probably why this
The food here is excellent, which is probably why this place has lasted so long. Ambiance not bad either, for what it is. However, the service is inconsistent, unfortunately; in my recent visits within the past few months, service has ranged from excellent (bar and server staff) to extremely disingenuous and rude (hostess) This is something management should look into. One or two bad actors can sometimes sour a customer's experience permanently.
Do NOT order off the theater menu dinner.
The server talked us into ordering it and led us to believe that what we ordered was included in the 40.00 amount. She even stated, I do not know why people do the 60.00 restaurant week menu because the theater menu is much cheaper. Even worse was the manager who repeatedly told us there was nothing he can do to change our bill. We were charged an extra 40.00 so our bill came to over 172.00. The manager also stated, yeah a lot of people complain about the theater menu bill but there is nothing I can do. He said he would talk to his boss about changing the font size...really??? the 40.00 was clear it was everything added to it that was confusing.
Authentic Greek Mediterranean Spot in Philadelphia.
Estia! This restaurant is beautiful and always has been. Its exquisitely decorated with white washed wood and exposed beams and stone. The open bar and kitchen create an inviting vibe to watch all the action. The staff is attentive, helpful and experts on the gigantic menu. There is some exhilarating feeling I get when my food is delivered and it's smoking or on fire. The Saganaki! You know what I'm talking about! It's visually appealing, the food gets a nice char and flavor, kind of like dinner and a show. The crab cake was pure crab devoid of any nonsense embellishments per usual. For entrees, we ordered the branzino and halibut both impeccably prepared. The branzino's lemon butter flavors were excellent and served with Horta, wilted greens. The halibut was delicate and melted in your mouth. Excellent Philadelphia spot! Loved it!
Convenient place for dinner before or after the theater
After enjoying "Ain't Too Proud", we had dinner here. All three of us had the Theater Menu although it was restaurant week. Two of us ha the Romaine Salad and the other had the Lemon Soup. For the main dish, we had the Fish of the Day, Dorado, and Shrimp Souvlaki. Dessert was two of the Lemon Sorbet and one Baklava. Make sure to ask for the bread and hummus. Their hummus is delicious.
Perfect Pre-Theater Treat of a Meal!
Terrific spot for pre-theater food! A completely charming atmosphere with incredibly attentive and quick service! I would recommend the Theater Menu... I opted for an incredible Romaine Salad, Shrimp Soulvaki, and a lemon sorbet. You can't beat the deal at $40~~
Not so happy hour
I had the pomegranate margarita and the Dionysus cocktails at happy hour. Neither was notable at all. For dinner I had the lamb chops, which were splendid, perhaps one too many for my elder self, but really tasty, Australian meat in lovely Greek marinade broiled to the degree the chef recommended. Excellent. I asked for roasted rather than French-fried potatoes, but they were as soggy with oil as I supposed the fries would be. The tzatziki was impossible. In old age, I’m a more delicate eater than I used to be. They were out of Retsina, surprised to say, but the Riesling was fine, just the perfect temperature. The free warm pita bread with hummus was lovely.
Please have better customer service
We made reservations for 5:45 on a Saturday night. We went at 4:30 to sit at the bar and have a happy hour drink. They do happy hour everyday! We also ordered the Estia chips! They are thinly sliced eggplant and zucchini chips. They were delicious! The bartender, was unfriendly and looked mad at everyone. He asked a couple next to us, who apparently were regulars if they wanted another drink. Ignored us and never came back to ask if we wanted another drink. After the bar, we were seated in an area between two fairly large parties. Not ideal. I ordered from the pre theater menu. I got the selection of dips, shrimp Souvlaki and walnut cake for dessert. The dips were great, and good portion. The shrimp were on skewers and well cooked. It came with a side of tomato/feta orzo. The walnut cake was great, and super moist. My friend got a salad with salmon and she said the salmon was good and well cooked. During our meal, a waitress came over and took my bread plate! We still had bread on the table and I’ve never seen this! I asked another waiter if I could have a bread plate. Our waiter was busy attending to the large parties in the area of the restaurant we were seated. He was not very helpful and could tell they didn’t care about just the two of us. The food was very good but employees should be happy, friendly and attentive. The service made us leave disappointed.
Pre-Theatre Fixed Price Dinner - Convenience and Value
Our first time there before seeing the Lion King show. Party of 3 all had the $40 fixed price, 3 course Theatre Menu. Added $17 saganaki starter only had 3 small strips of cheese. Added $15 glasses of wine that were only finger-width filled; sauvignon blanc was good but pinot noir was not. Appetizer keftedes meatballs were excellent but spanokopitas spinach was too coarse with not enough feta cheese. Entree extra price (+$15) lamb chops with Greek fried potatoes were great. Fish-of-the-day sea bass had nice lemon/butter flavor but was overcooked and mushy. Desserts of honey walnut cake and salted caramel baklava were very good. Table service was outstanding in all respects. Large dining areas were attractive and comfortable but somewhat noisy. Overall, food quality was 3 to 4 stars and service was definitely 5 stars - not sure about going again with its convenient theatre location but high prices.
Sit at bar : ask for Charles
At Bar:!Great Service by Charles We came in last Saturday and had Charles as our bartender. He was a great guy and knew his menu. We had octopus and tuna entree. Very tasty
Nice dinner spot
Great service and food in a nice setting. We enjoyed the octopus and eggplant chips as appetizers, and halibut and the whole fish sea bass. Everything was really good. Would definitely recommend!
A Class Act
Had a Thursday dinner reservation prior to a show at Academy of Music. Reservation was acknowledged on arrival. The interior itself is beautiful and feels cozy for its size. Well presented table for 4 had plenty of space on and around it. What's especially nice is menu has a special prix fixe Theater menu which includes an app, entree & dessert and included a fresh bread and hummus starter. We've dined here pre-theater, but before the pandemic. Unlike many places we've dined at recently, Estia hasn't lost a step. Food was great, especially if you're a Greek fan. Ordered a Manhattan from the menu. Though a bit pricey, it was generously sized and well prepared, though it could have been served colder. Service was outstanding by all the staff and timely even though the house was busy. Even a manager stopped by to check and was genuinely interested.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
